Worm is a pretty good all around hero... though most of his stuff is geared towards killing groups of enemies, so he is best used as crowd control (for ex he is a good substitute for beetle or hopper). BUT, he also has some heavy hitting firepower such as the Autocannon, his attacks with "Take Aim", and many of his explosives once you level up his "explosive" skill to the max. He is also a great hero in your party if you want to try to conserve food (since he practically never has to eat food if you are careful with him)... though you have to really be cautious. Also, I haven't seen anyone mention a bunch of neat things for Termite... for ex his termite trap is an AWESOME defensive ability to protect your stash against siege units if you are having trouble with them... simply plop 1-2 down near your base and watch as enemies deal 1/2 damage. Combine that with a cultivator turret and a shield generator and you've got one heck of a defensive barricade without using any turrets. Spark Plugs also affect base turrets damage, so Spark Plugs + Better Base Guns from Ant = a HUGE damage bonus. I played a really fun game where I was Ant, Worm and Termite, playing very defensively. Claymores + Burrow mines all over the place, very powerful base defenses with Ant and termite buffs, nonstop food with cultivator (turrets and Termites equipment)... it was fun There are some neat combinations you can do if you really dig for them... On other news, the update is finally "In Review", so it shouldn't be much longer...
Awesome!!! This is definitely very useful! Thanks, you guys are such awesome devs When I first played as Termite and Worm I wondered how well they would work with Ant. Always wanted to try it. I think I will now. EDIT: And awesome about the update!!
you can only have one termite trap at a time, and that is with workmanship (if it effects it) maxed... glad to hear the update is in review.
Exploding ammo is a must have. After that I like to go for tremor bomb and switch out grenades, bayonet, and claymores when I need to.
Currently I feel that Worm is a good hero but mostly because of his nuke ability, which can be a game changer especially if timed correctly. In addition to helping the player save the base in a pinch (in practically all the "massive group of bugs are approaching our base" scenarios) as well as giving free "Creep Killer" rewards, the Nuke ability becomes exponentially more valuable when combined with Fly's Pickpocket ability. I don't feel the Worm is in anyway as capable as Beetle (or even Hopper) when it comes to crowd control, though. The slow movement speed, rate of fire, along with significantly diminished damage when trying to move / dodge, AND the risk of dying within 1-2 seconds by late game, the combination of all these things really negates his ability to CC. Sure, you can take Bayonet and Tremor Bomb with you to help, they are decent but not quite as comparable to some other Heroes. Termite is essentially utterly useless (as in, much worst than any other hero) early game, and marginally better than some other heroes by late game (and that is only when combined with Fly's additional cash flow), if you take out his Food Cultivator. The ability to generate food is unquestionably one of the best abilities in the whole game, it becomes more and more valuable as you progress into the higher rounds. Most of the time I take the Railgun and Auto Turret (the most expensive turrets) with me by late game, and even having 4 or 5 of these towers out at the same time, combined with Spark Plugs, only parts him on par with some of the other heroes ability to defend. The turrets become slightly more useful when combined with Ant's Better Base Guns, but most of the time I find that say, taking Nuke or the Stickbug's damage abilities usually yield better results. It is very unfortunate that Spark Plug refuses to work when Termite isn't the active hero. When you are using Termite as your active hero, you are also significantly doing less damage than otherwise. If you are already using Auto turret, Railgun, Food Cultivator, that leaves you with just one slot left. I have tried both Spark Plugs and Satellite, and most of the time Satellite tends to yield slightly better results. Termite's Trap is great, but it isn't worth sacrificing any of the above abilities for it in my testing. The rest of his abilities are completely waste of slots. When I have the time I'll try to do a more in depth review of all the abilities, if you guys are interested. By the way, and I do feel I have to mention this but you should really never rate Heroes basing on as if they can carry all their skills with them (you should only rate them base on the combination of 4 skills). Likewise, you should never rate Heroes alone as opposed to rating the combination or team of Heroes. It is completely pointless to say one hero is better than another when you are not taking into account of the other 2 members of a team.
yes, please do. I hope Oxynidus is planning on doing one sometime also... @foursaken_media is Bug Heroes going to be in review for a long time again because of the IAPs, or was that a one time thing?
how do you use claymore? i never buy it because my initial reaction is that it will explode on a little maggot or something as opposed to something worthwhile?
I've been playing a few hours every single day and these are some of my thoughts so far: Overall, I find the new heroes to be UNDERpowered compared to the original ones...thats in general of course, there are situational exceptions. the termite is the most uninteresting and annoying character for me, i just dont ENJOY the playstyle of that character. the hopper is the most UNDERPOWERED new hero...i LOVE his playstyle, i LOVE his abilities, and i TRY to use him alot, but compared to beetle the only thing i feel i gain from using the hopper instead is his WALK SPEED. his armor is pathetic (if i get surprised by 6-10 fleas and i cant hit them FIRST, i lose 50-75% of my hp in a second), his primary attack is undependable (ill miss enemies right in front of me sometimes, and besides that each variation of his atk is so different than the other in terms of the hitbox!). those 2 reasons just make him hard to use ESPECIALLY late game (hard hitting enemies)....i mean hes supposed to fight MULTIPLE enemies at once but he cant even handle 6-10 FLEAS?!? yes i could "BLOCK", but in the first 5-7 rounds BLOCK is not a priority skill (towers, an teleport/escape ability) and as such ive lost insane amounts of hp/died very early. ^Please rebalance Hopper, hes such a GREAT concept but it takes SO MUCH effort to make him work that its just not worth it the worm: very well balanced, fun, doesnt need alot of changes as far as i can see (his HP late game is VERY worrisome, one hit from a big guy can take him out if hes lower than 90ish% ladybug: needs a little rebalancing, her attributes give her a similar position as the SPIDER in adventure mode but in the same breath shes much less effective than spider. her atk dmg makes killing big/armored enemies with her primary attack a PAIN and most often will end up getting her killed because of the time it takes. her skills are extremely fun and creative but i think she could omit a few in lieu of some that could not only enhance her position in adventure mode but also make it more unique. what do you guys think? im a humble person, and I realize I could not see things as clearly as I should because I possibly dont use the heroes correctly
In regards to Grasshopper, he isn't durable per se, but he has the best healing in the game, making him very survivable if you gear/level him up correctly. Both faith and Parry are innate skills that are incredible... Prayer is insane in terms of healing, and he also has the Miracle Worker ability which can potentially pump out so much food its not even funny (which you can use to heal him or whatever -- depending on the situation it can be MUCH better then Termite's Cultivator). And Hopper is much more powerful then Beetle in terms of damage, meaning that he isn't as weak against heavily armored/high HP units as Beetle is. Also unfortunately Hoppers hit detection is/was indeed off, and was only increased after the last update was submitted (almost 2 weeks ago)... so it won't be "fixed" until the next update >_< (mind you its not bugged or anything, it was just lower then it was supposed to be). As for Ladybug, she was designed to be less powerful then spider... this is what you get for more durability and better 1v1 combat (with her various parry abilities). She is MUCH better at killing Bumble Bees, Scorpions, and other medium fast, hard hitting enemies that Spider might not be able to easily avoid. Also she can kill big enemies in the middle of large crowds thanks to a variety of armor and invulnerability specials. In the end, there are nine completely unique characters... balance is certainly one thing (we're continually tweaking), but we never expected everyone to like EVERY hero

Sweet! downloading now. It's been a great day for iOS gaming. Can't wait to get the amount of required votes for Mantis now that the contest is "officially" kicked off. Thanks for the update Foursaken_Media, looking forward to the next content one too.
Ideally you would time it so it hits a powerful moving enemy. As that's not really possible without amazing skill, just throw it at a group of standing enemies (think cockroaches, spiders) and run away. Or, use it like proximity mines; dump down a bunch in an area bugs never visit (Salt and pepper shakers, behind the calculator on office) and run there when a lot of bugs are coming and your turrets are overwhelmed. The best thing about claymore, even if a flea sets it off, the explosion is so big it'll probably hit something else anyways.
Yay for patch 2.1! I love the improvements. I also appreciate your feedback on my idea. I love this community. Your idea on the revolver sounds a lot better and I can see how it can be too powerful. Also for the individual who wanted to know about the value of a mob based team. I was thinking further that the mob would have a special ability that can be purchased which would allow them to "scatter fire" or "concentrate fire" With scatter fire, each individual tick will pick their own targets, while concentrated fire, all ticks will fire at the same target. This would be the ultimate unit against large enemy mobs. A mob vs mob kinda unit. As for a mob based team being overpowered. Well just think of it this way. You know how the Ant goes full auto on his gun? Well make the pistol the ticks fire deal the same damage as each bullet fired by the ant. The damage will balance out, with the pistols much slower rate of fire.
Barter pays based on how much food you have. The more you have, the more it pays. As for when you should use it... that depends on how much food you want to sacrifice and how much money you need.
Continue? Hi There, I play on the subway and have to pause alot. It looks like the continue option is not working. Is anyone else having this problem? Great Game... Thanks Dave
This game is fantastic. While I've yet to figure out a valid method for using Hopper as a replacement for Beetle, the other heroes are just fantastic and the game on the whole is great. Looking forward to new content and maybe even unlocking Mantis in a few years!
