You are suffering from a common misconception: just because everyone can have an opinion doesn't make all opinions equally valid or informed because even for subjective matters (is Bug Heroes a good game?), your opinion is worth nothing if it's not informed. I assure as certainly as the sun is out where I'm living, your opinion is not informed. To revisit your parable above - if somebody has actually tried several kinds of ice cream - vanilla, fruit flavors, had a sundae, praline, had some milkshakes, softserve, etc. - and tells me they don't like ice cream, fine, they don't like ice cream. Just because I don't see how somebody wouldn't like ice cream, I'm not going to argue with them if they've actually given it a go. However, if they tried one of those 1/4 tsp tasting spoons of vanilla one time and they declare they don't like ice cream, you're right, I would tell them they haven't eaten enough, because they simply haven't. It's NOT a matter of opinion, it's a matter if they even have enough data to reasonably form an opinion, because basing their opinion on that teeny tiny bite of one flavor and style out of the entire range of ice creams in the world is just an ignorant opinion and worthless. There's a 150+ page thread here with thousands of posts that has accumulated in just a few months. There are games that came out two years ago that are lucky to have 20+ page threads about them. This is not a simple game, nor is "boring" a word that gets thrown at it throughout this thread. Objectively, the game is far too deep and complex to even understand what you're doing in 30 minutes for anyone. So, maybe it's not your style of game, that's fine, but unless you spent your 30 minutes getting to round 25 on kitchen adventure your very first try, I don't believe you can rightly call it boring. I give far simpler games with far less ambitious design or delivery a lot more than 30 minutes before I'm willing to review them. I certainly would never feel right about reviewing a game of this magnitude after a taster's spoon of one flavor when by all rights I should be aware there is the equivalent of a Baskin-Robbins with 3100 flavors right there in front of me. ----- Now, just so this doesn't seem all negative, while I think you gave this game far too little attention to be posting a review, I completely disagree with the sentiment that we should either not review a game at all or give it 5 stars. I give a game what it deserves because just as your opinion is uninformed and ignorant, so isn't that system. Reviews are meaningless if people aren't doing their best to make an honest assessment. If you'd really tried this game and still wanted to give it 3 stars (or even less), that would be your call and you should post it. I just wish you'd given the game more of a chance first because it's not just not boring, it's one of the best iOS titles in existence.
I think if nothing else the *feel* of using his turrets needs tweaked - objectively, they're probably more or less on par with what we spend on base turrets in terms of their damage and earning potential, but the micromanagement and temporary nature makes them feel less somehow. With Ant, sure, it's just the one porta turret, but it's free to place, so investing the $600 and micromanaging them feels fine, but doing the same with Termite doesn't because of the cost. In addition to considering your suggestions, another that's occurred to me is make them cost the same or even a little more, but greatly extend their life span - you can chew up the costs of a fully upgrading a base turret in a single big game with just rail turrets easily, yet they don't last that single big game. The concept of termite is solid, but the feel is just a bit off.
That's a good point, but as an alternative to that you could just tweak the workmanship for each point to provide a longer duration, which I believe provides +20 seconds lifespan atm for each point.
How about offering the option to SALVAGE turrets for a % of their initial price? (Maybe even an ever-increasing %, up to 90 or 100 near the end of their lifetime, giving you an incentive to place them and keep them around). This would keep the total cost low, while still making it strategic to pay for them (takes that much longer to get other abilities / equipment / upgrades). It would also add an additional element of multitasking to termite...not sure if this is a good or bad thing.
Yep, another possible tweak. Currently, although that's a 'must have' for upgrading Termite, it's also, at most, +100 seconds, and less than 2 minutes extra in a game that goes at least 20 minutes on average once players are reasonably competent is nothing. I'm still experimenting with Termite, but, for example, I just set a personal record this morning for score and duration on Kitchen using Termite, Ant, and Worm - although the game went more than an hour in total, the only thing I wound up buying for Termite turret wise was the first gun one, and I built, I think, 3 the whole game. His Cultivator was invaluable at keeping the team alive, but the turrets were just far too expensive for what they do. As it is, I probably shouldn't have even bought what I did as those 3 gun turrets + the initial cost for the ability was $800 - that would have been a more useful hero power if I'd made that choice. Somewhere there's got to be a set of tweaks that brings us to a happy place in between "overpowered with permanent turrets" and where we are at currently , which is "like Ant's porta turret, only not as good"
Turrets last for around 6 minutes with level 5 workmanship... thats a pretty long time, considering porta turrets for ex last for 2 minutes. Consider the total amount of damage a single turret can do over that time and you've got an ability that can really dish it out. The other problem is the turrets were not designed to necessarily be as simple as "drop them and forget." Will they not live up to their cost if you just throw them down, switch heroes and forget about them? No, probably not. Really the turrets are purposefully mediocre on their own, because there would be little reason to use Termite otherwise, being an inherently weaker hero in terms of combat. But if you use some of his boosting abilities and skills (optics, spark plugs, satellite), then suddenly you can create a defense that is nigh unstoppable when you need it to be. A few problems with what people have proposed... if we increase the time turrets last, then that also increases the amount of turrets that can be out at once, overpowering them. If we increase their cooldowns to compensate, that decreases the flexibility Termite has to swap out turrets for buffing equipment. I'm still not convinced that his turrets even are underpowered tbh. We dropped the price by 50 for each turret to start with, but we wont be making sweeping changes just 3 days after the heroes released P.S. Fun fact: Better Base Guns for Ant affects Termites turrets... and Termites Spark Plugs affect base turrets.

since the mushrooms cant stack anymore is it also impossible to take more than 1 like there are 3 shrooms you pick 1 and when you go over the other 2 they wont disapear without any effect?
Another healthy changelog. Looks very nice and thanks for blessing Stickbug Wizard more. I think decreasing Termites turrets price sit a little bit better with me(and others) and I completely understand why you don't just sell them at a higher prices for a permanent skill. I love using him but as said, the prices of the turrets were his only real turn off. I didn't have any issues with Hopper's skills but hey, no complaints there either. Thanks for another awesome upcoming update Foursaken_Media. How are we looking on vote counts? I liked the FB page post. I have a twitter account and am following FM, but i'm still a rookie on how to use it and the twitter info wasn't really clear(to me) on how to make that vote valid. Do you do @Foursaken Media and include the words "Bug Heroes" because if I just tweet Bug Heroes you can't see that right? Thanks ahead of time for clarifying.
We don't really expect the contest to take off until the update is actually released (we added a few pointers to promote the contest)... and all you have to do is have "bug heroes" in your tweet somehwere... twitter allows you to track specific phrases
Hoorraayy!!! I was just thinking about how much Termites turrets cost. I'm loving the new heroes by the way. My favorites are termite, ladybug and hopper!
You can see the voting total on a PC by clicking the "FREE new hero contest" tab on the left. We'll post weekly voting totals in the comments section as well, but they will only be weekly as its impossible to tally up everything in real time.
I second this. I can't even count th number of times I have accidentally picked up a shroom. On average about 5 accidents per game.
