when you replace spider with worm, how do you handle medium-high health enemies such as grub launchers?

I would love to see this.

Foursaken Media: I'd like to express a thought on the new heroes. Now the original heroes all had some abilities and attributes that you can barely part with, like Ant's teleport, hole and life support, Beetle's heavy armor and unmatched AOE damage, and his powerful knockbacks and stuns, Spider's Superior Assassin, Spider Web, Assassin Bomb, Ninja Smoke...etc.

Now the problem with the new heroes is that few of them have any must-have abilities or attributes. They're all easily replaceable. Ladybug is an excellent all-around hero, but she has nothing that you can't do without in a game. Same goes for Fly and the others. The one exception is Worm, because he has an unmatched ability to destroy large groups of enemies from range, and knock down powerful enemies with his autocannon, which is extremely important for an adventure game. Most of the new heroes – while quirky, neat and unique – don't provide much that's considered a must-have for an adventure game.

Now, if Stick had a powerful teleport ability (make it more expensive than Ant's, but with a lower cooldown, or a higher knockback with damage, or anything that makes him a good substitute for Ant who has two teleport abilities), he could become a must-have hero for people who depend on high mobility. If Grasshopper had a more reliable way of regularly healing the group, he could be a substitute for Ant in the healing department (though I still wouldn't go for him because of Ant's teleport abilities, unless his healing was significantly superior). If Termite wasn't so damn expensive, he would be a superior hero at defending the base, which could be essential for people who go out exploring a lot. You get the picture.

I don't know if my opinion is of much value to you, or if many of you agree with me, but I believe I'll be proven right by the hero usage in the leaderboards.

With a fully upgraded worm weapon + fully upgraded Aim attribute, standing still while shooting can take them out real quick, along with anything around them. Also, Autocannon is more powerful than Spider's attacks when shooting at full speed (It's wonderful. Try it).

Fly is a peculiar character. I'm not very fond of either his equipment nor his leveling attributes, but he is, together with Spider, my favourite character in terms of controls, movement, etc. He is just so darn fun fight with, since he can dodge and spin and dart and speed about the battlefield. Battles turn into action film shootouts. If any iteration of Bug Heroes, current or future, features online play, I can see him becoming really popular in PvP for this reason.

I really like Ant for ranged damage, but I always found it hard to evade attacks with him. Not so with Fly.

Fly is arguably the most interesting character. With his luck based abilities, you have a chance to do well with less skill. And his speed makes him more fun to use.

I figure if it's going to fixed, I can get some fun in before boards are wiped. Got to 120 or so on normal office, could have gotten farther easily but I got bored. Absolute BLAST to do it with the shroom turrets. I suggest more folks try it before the fun is forever gone : )

Hm. I wouldn't agree. While I believe some of the suggestions Oxy made were certainly something to consider, I had a brilliant round with him on the attic on normal. Hit second on the leaderboard only because I was distracted while playing.

To put some advice out, I was swapping between Spider and Termite every round. I would be continuously checking out Termite's turrets and putting them out when I got the chance because while he is out, their range is increased. I upgraded his drill and it was good for pushing the attacking/disappearing/stealing spiders back because they would charge into him until they died if you pointed the drill the correct direction.

Spider would scavenge for treasure chests and kite the Spider Hunters away when they were in berserk mode (so my turrets would focus fire on a target they could kill).

I had Fly as my third, but I didn't use him the entire time.

Uh, in short, I kept him out of the fray and fought enemies one-on-one with Termite. I kept pumping out Termite's different turrets and was able to upgrade Spider and Termite pretty well and get them both to a decent level. Just make sure to not get surrounded and try to get the enemies to line up so they run into the drill while you backpedal.

Termite can DEFINITELY use some sort of speed increase, though. I understand he is a slower character and not meant to be run like Spider.. But I feel like it is one thing that really hinders his potential.

Okay, honestly, if leaderboards are getting wiped again, wouldn't that be another reason to have local leaderboards so players can at least have bragging rights of what they have accomplished before? Sorry if I'm pushing this feature, but I just really, really would appreciate it.

I see no mention but -- can ladybird here fly?

The fly is amazing because its shots spread like boomstick, they can avoid the nasty poison (but not grenades), dodge shots like dream. However, it has low HP and the firepower is weak and more often than not, I find myself needing more food than money.

Some of us can pass 118:D

Try getting four maxed mushroom turrets, Ant with a minigun, and destroy everything.

It's way easier to make the mistake of power creep and adding new heroes that are too good, than the mistake of making them too weak. It's always much easier to power them up a bit, later, than to have to try to take away powers that people have grown to like.

And the question of which three heroes are the best set for the few people who are going to be atop the leaderboards is not unimportant, but it's far from the only thing that matters, either. Plenty of people will play with any given set, or a random set, just for the challenge of how well they can do with that combination. You should try it.

No, if people want to compare what they are doing now to what they have done before, then having old scores that were achieved through bugs or exploits just aren't that useful to them.

If you really want to remember your high scores in previous versions, it's easy enough for you to take a screenshot, isn't it?

I don't fully agree with that for, may be I play it differently. I see new heroes are variations to the existing one that breaths new fun. Yes, ladybird may play like spider but she has better resistance to small foes and HP count. I have yet to exploit fully her abilities to tell.

    Love the game

Got this game when came out. Loving this new take on tower defense. never been much of an rpg fan, but I dont mind it for the action this game gives in return. I personally would love to see more maps and heroes without much more leveling up as it feels a bit too complicated at times with me pausing more than I would like to. Just the way I feel but i'm sure others love the rpg elements. Perhaps easy mode could reduce their necessity. Or an idea for another mode with little to no rpg elements.

If the game became boring after 30 minutes, you were playing a different game.

You barely know how to "tie your shoes" in this game after 30 minutes. I've been playing this game for over two months, at times for a couple of hours a day, and I'm still barely competent by my standards.

There's just way too much subtlety and variety to the different approaches you can take to even see more than few percentage points worth of what the game has going on in only 30 minutes.

Something peculiar for you here, devs: on round 16 on easy in both garden and restaurant, I get completely swamped and hemmed in, and either stunlocked, movement bugged, or both.

In garden, my heroes were attacked by five brown recluses, flanked by ten other bugs, just by my base. My bug got stuck in the base, but was also stun-locked a few seconds after by the brown recluses, and as soon as I switched, that hero immediately (as in, before an attack could land) became stunned as well. As soon as the paralysis lifted, they stunned me again. My base (one level four and one leve five machine gun) were firing away at the recluse, but since they had one (just one) healer bug behind them, they would not die. Since I was stunlocked and stuck in the base, I could not reach the healer that was protecting the recluses.

In the restaurang, I instead suddenly became overwhelmed by five spinning bugs (with a host of other bugs behind them), who bounced me between them until Hopper died. When I selected Fly and tried to flee, I got stuck in a nearby devourer, and could not move.

Even without the movement problems and the infinite stunlock created by the recluses, both those waves were far more brutal than anything I've ver experienced on easy, and I've never died this quickly on before. Since easy has supposedly been toned down even further, this leads me to believe that something is considerably wrong with my copy of Bug Heroes.
