Alright, its time to kick off the new hero contest! This will basically give you a chance to unlock a brand new PRAYING MANTIS hero for free! The contest is all about spreading the word and getting your friends to join in also, so the more people you can get in on it, the more chance everyone will have of unlocking the Praying Mantis hero! We have over 400,000 Bug Heroes players as of now, and will be releasing contest information in game in the next update, so don't be daunted by the 500,000 vote count Facebook and Twitter links are in my signature If you're already following us, your vote has already been counted Good luck!
Does being a regular on this thread count as voting? I don't have a twitter/FB account that I actually use, but I guess I could sign in to do that. Anyway, there's a really important issue that has to be addressed asap. The pop-up messages are getting really disrupting. The biggest example right now is with Worm's auto-cannon. When a pop-up shows up for whatever reason, you lose the momentum. That could be remedied individually, but I still think we need a 1-second to 3-second countdown after each pop-up, at least as an option, to avoid losing a game because of a faction of a second lost due to a pop-up.
His comment was right. (80 damage per bullet)*(10 bullets per second) would be 800 damage per second. The way you propose to do stacking is still too much. If a single mushroom multiplies damage by 2.5, that's a +150% bonus. So two mushrooms should be +300% bonus. In other words: 1 mushroom = +150% bonus damage = 2.5 damage multiplier 2 mushrooms = +300% bonus damage = 4.0 damage multiplier 3 mushrooms = +450% bonus damage = 5.5 damage multiplier 4 mushrooms = +600% bonus damage = 7.0 damage multiplier I don't know if this is balanced, still. But it shouldn't be any stronger than this.
As soon as we get the required amount of votes The Praying Mantis hero will ONLY be available through this contest (if it is successful), and will be for free. If we can't get the required votes, no one will ever see the Praying Mantis hero.
Well, I've put up my votes even thought I had to ask my wife to login to Facebook for me to do it (I don't have my own account). Really looking forward to seeing what the Mantis hero is like. Just had a good game with Worm, he's awesome once you get him pumped up enough. I feel like some heroes are pretty good right out of the gate, where others seem to need significant upgrades before they start to shine. For those of you doing well with Hopper, do you have any tips on what order you upgrade his abilities and which specials to buy for him? I've generally been starting with Brawler and then Parry, and the first special I typically buy is Rocket Kick. This may be far from optimal though and I'd love to do better with him. Thanks!
I don't really want a stronger, more powerful hero to be released and unbalance the game. Is there a possibility that I can tweet negative things about Bug Heroes so that I generate negative votes toward the total?
Hes not really more powerful. Its just a story thing and to make him sound extra cool. It should be clear now we're pretty adamant about keeping the boards and game balanced...
Well, I agree the original 3 heroes are generally more well-rounded than the rest, but I gotta say, Worm is a wonderful addition to the team, and I've replaced Spider with him in my ideal team. There is no substitute for Ant though because of his Life Support, Hole and Teleport, and Beetle is by far the ideal tank. Fly is good as a solo hero, but he can barely kill anything unless he's heavily equipped. Stick is good with his spells, but unfortunately doesn't fulfill the necessities the other heroes provide.
@Foursaken Media With the new changes in the next update, like the change in the mushroom turrets, will the leaderboards be reset again? Also, since the game is always being balanced and adjusted, will that mean that the leaderboards will have to be constantly erased with most updates? I agree that the boards need to be erased with changes to the game, but it would be nice to know when I can post a high score and it not be deleted, again.
Yes. Any new content must be submitted as an update first. We only reset the boards with significant changes or when exploits have been found. In this instance the Mushroom stacking and Beetle Boomsticks exploits were pretty major and clearly impacting the boards. I think Fly was a bit over the top as well being able to farm baby spiders for gold (and not only Fly, but also abilities like night hunter which earn health with each kill). I hate resetting the boards, trust me... but hopefully we won't have to reset the leaderboads again after this one. Oh yeah, so to answer your initial question yes, we are resetting the boards with this update
Would it be possible to add a "Random" button to select random heroes for all remaining slots? There's room for something between the "X" and "Start" buttons on that screen. So, you can press it and get three random heroes, or fill in 1-2 slots and press it to fill in the last slots with random heroes. Anyone else interested in this? Obviously it's more for casual/fun play than serious leaderboard assaults.
Abandon him, he sucks. Also, siege maggots don't eat any of my food. I see their tongues, but I don't lose food or get a message at the top of the screen. Second gen, iOS 4.1. Happened on Kitchen with Ladybug, Termite and Fly, on Attic and Office with Spider, Worm, and Stickbug, and several other maps/combos I can't remember.
