By the way, I love that you have your own leaderboards and achievements system. Will that be removed if you add Game Center? I hope not! I like the way it is set up, personally.
I am not sure which level you guys are all talking about. I just got to around 18-19 on first (Kitchen) level on normal. The idea is to stay close to Pile and never venture outside. Quests with coins and saving bugs should be ignored. Quests with Scrolls and killing cetrain bugs should be accepted, as with scrolls you can just run up to mob guarding it, then use teleport ability of Ant to land right on scroll, then you can switch to Beetle right away and just Stun or w/e ability you have out of the mob and back to Pile. Bug killing quests will come to you (Pile that is). Then you just get additonal turrets with Ant ability and make sure to have 2 of them up at all times, refreshing one every minute. Get 2 sniper towers and 2 turret towers. Upgraded sniper towers seems to have amazing range and are complimented well with Ant's Better Base Guns ability. I think that's how I got past level 17-18 you all have problems with. I had fully upted Sniper tower and some upts on rest of them, I just popped the Better Towers ability when it got really hot and generally stayed behind pile. If there are too many units, take Beetle and pop most of his crowd control abilities (Jump, Shield, Gauntlet) and while those are stunned use Spider with some crit hit abilities to finish them off. In general I just stay behind with Ant and keep shooting into the great unknow hoping to hit some bugs. I think on next attempt i should get past 20 easily. Two more things that come into mind: If one of the heroes dies it's pretty much game over, no sane person would use 1500+ to revive the hero @ any stage of the game. It's just too punitive and pretty much guarantees that you will get WAY behind. Forgot what was the other thing . . .
Wait you can revive your heros? dangit I wish I had known that, because I usually upgrade one here so when the hero dies I have two really weak heroes which leads to my inevitable defeat. Thanks for the tips I'll try your strategy.
Thanks We will likely use our current interface for the game, but store the achievements and leaderboard information also on GameCenter (and of course you can view all the data on GC outside of the actual game). So basically all your stats and stuff will be logged onto GC, but as you're playing -- in terms of the interface and menus -- you won't notice a difference from how it is now. @ Arashi541 -- haha no, not yet; new heroes take a loooong time to finish (thankfully we already started some even before release). This first update will be strictly maintenance and bug/crash fixes. After that we have several updates planned which will include new equipment for the current heroes, including new weapons for some of them We'll announce further updates later down the road.
Good stuff action HOWEVER, I must note that quests are a major key to getting a high score! Just because you last longer, does not mean that you will have a better score. In fact I have beaten people by several 1000s of points on the leader board, while reaching a lesser round. A huge part of the strategy of this game involves only accepting quests you know you can beat. Early on I go hogwild and accept almost all quests, but later on (especially during base defense rounds) I also tend to decline the coin search quests and some of the harder ones, as things often get too hectic to venture far for too long. That being said, completing them gives you BIG rewards. Also quests are a very important key in leveling up your heroes! Completing a quests gives ALL your heroes xp, so its a great way to keep underused heroes from just being little wussies the whole game. Finally, gotta disagree on the overpriced hero revive cost... think of what you are getting for the cost of only a piece of equipment or 2. I always save up and revive my first dead hero Also note that the cost of dead heroes increases the higher the level they are when they died, so be careful.
So if you don't have Game Center enabled on your device you will still be able to view the achievements in-game?
Glad to hear that even the Dev declines the coin quests. Don't know if it's just me, but they never seem to spawn enough. Even with like 5 coins, I'll find 3 but never see a fourth coin on the map before time runs out.
Man I got up to wave 18 using the ant on kitchen hard, I hadn't been close to dying at all really and then suddenly they came from nowhere, there had to have been like 20-30 of the smaller food eating bugs along with some of the larger ones mixed in and two giant scorpion like things (or centipedes I believe there called). I didn't stand a chance. Ah well now to start again
Well, don't get me wrong, I love raking in that coin money on non defense waves... its like a free $500+ if you complete it (including the money individual coins give you). You do have to make a conscious effort to scour the map quickly though in order to complete them. There are also several variations... there is one that spawns all the coins at once (the 5 coin quest), and then the 10 coin quest spawns only 1 at a time... but that one gives you like 8 minutes to find all of them.
This is the iPhone game I've been looking for. After reading the raving reviews I saw on here I bought it, and I haven't put it down since. Thanks TA for showing me this great game I otherwise wouldn't have purchased, and I hope this game gets the recognition it deserves.
I must have missed something. Is there a difference between waves. I was Defending every wave. Maybe only devs know the secret. Btw, 17 again! I'll get it figured out this weekend.
Yes, when a message pops up saying "a huge group of bugs is heading for our food! We must protect the stash!" it is a pure defense wave. Otherwise, you should be able to explore and wander around the map, and let your turrets handle everything.
Your Welcome. On a side note, question to the peanut gallery; would you rather have a new hero or a new level?
