Me too. My inclination would be to unlock heroes on my own (not as a cheapskate, but because I enjoy the challenge). But I love BH so much, I'll probably buy everything that I can just to support them.

This looks really nice and I've always been a fan of the engine that Foursaken has used in all their games. Amazing that a team of brothers can create something so cool and fun to play.

3g IS "supported", though I can't guarantee great performance (we can guarantee that it won't have any RAM crashes as long as you reboot your device before playing, at the least). Its a free game, so you can at least give it a shot - if it doesn't run well enough for you, shouldn't be a huge loss at least ;)

Perhaps in some instances, because you will often have your 2nd hero to back you up in standard combat situations... but in others, aiming for ex can be MORE important in BH2, because of some units' longer ranges (a benefit of being able to switch to an over-the-shoulder viewpoint).

Also, generally enemies are much more lethal in BH2, so often the decisions you make and the situations you put yourself in can be more important in BH2.

So far, very exciting :) Even so, might you consider putting in an option to disable the partial auto-aim, and a mechanic that provide truly precision-based, manual aiming (whether dual stick style, or FPS-crosshair-fashion)?

Huh? Aim assist is an option. Default controls are completely manual.

I just keep watching the trailer over and over wishing I was playing the game. Lol. I love the over the shoulder style camera and it's great to see some of the old cast in part 2. I loved termite I part one and I'm sure he going to be in my team in part 2. Congrats to Jamie and the entire FM team on another masterpiece. Any info on whats next for you guys. Lol. I only ask because I'm sure you already have another game half way done;)

Oh man this looks so fantastic! I do have a question though. Are you able to switch camera angels on the fly? Cause I can see both being useful at different points in a round. Just wondering...

Looking forward to this, nearly a month to go though it's so cruel : ( it's not that long but in iOS terms it's a lifetime for me!

Seems like I misinterpreted this passage (and please, say that I did :) ):

So the auto-aim/assist mechanic alluded to above is an option, and turning it off will offer full manual aiming, pinpoint precision-style? (For some reason, watching the trailer and reading above discussion gave me an impression of either a narrow cone-based aiming mechanic, with automatic aim inside the cone, or a general H&C feel where careful aim rarely becomes essential.)

If so, since there are no dual sticks, and since I could see no crosshairs in the trailer (removed for cinematic effect?), how do we aim (beyond shooting in the general direction of enemies)?

Thanks man :) Block Fortress War is of course next up, and we have some ideas for our next game after that, but we're anticipating taking some time for post launch support for both games, so no word on anything after Block Fortress War quite yet!

Yep, you can switch on the fly, precisely because many players will find the need to switch back and forth for different reasons and in different scenarios - we felt it was more important than having an option buried in a menu. That being said, you don't HAVE to be in one or the other mode to be able to play well. In our tests we saw all types of players: some who preferred overhead view, some who preferred only over-the-shoulder view, and some who constantly switched between the two.

Definitely, that is one of the unique elements of Bug Heroes 2, and is a staple in its gameplay! The best players will be constantly switching heroes to maximize ability usage, manipulate enemy aggro, and a whole lot more.

Yes, its only an option. Default is complete manual control; swipe to look, line up aim, shoot (obviously with melee it doesn't matter as much). We don't have traditional crosshairs because of the changing viewpoint (overhead vs over-the-shoulder), so we needed a different solution, which was an "aiming guide." Even in the trailer you can see a series of faint dots on the ground in a straight line coming from your gun, which shows you where your projectiles will go. You can see them around :23-:24 with Moth, for ex.

Yes, the guide is quite apparent now that I know what to look for. Very nifty mechanic. With that, I can't think of a single thing about the game that does not have me excited for the release (though I do hope that you find a way to work a strictly combat-focused, food stack-free Coliseum-like mode in at some point).

Can melee attacks still miss if there is no target directly in front, or are they sticky/MMO-style auto-targeted to the closest bug(ger) in a frontal cone (or even anywhere around the hero)?

In general, will we still be dodging enemy projectiles and having reaction-based firefights like in BH1, or is gameplay more like H&C, with less emphasis on evasion and careful aiming, and more on positioning and strategic use of abilities? (Both are very rewarding mechanics, but I have been hoing for the former for BH2. I certainly wouldn't mind a mesh of more of everything;) )

EDIT: Oh, and something I forgot entirely to ask: is there a connection or even contiguous thread in the lore, setting and narrative of BH1/BHQ and BH2?

FEBRUARY 20th WHY! seems such a long time! I cant wait so long!

  19. #1 Who does all of the unique voice acting for the bugs? You guys share that duty?

#2 If the Foursaken brothers could each be a bug in the game, which bug would you guys be?

#3 My daughters are thrilled about the game; I shared that on Facebook already :) They laughed a great deal about the Mouse and the Moth. Is that a scientist spider at the end of the character line up?

Melee attacks are not sticky and can still miss; some heroes like Ladybug have a very small attack cone, but can attack through multiple enemies for ex.

Dodging plays a big role still, but with the addition of cover, dodging is harder (bullets are faster).

We outsourced the voice work for BH2 - its a very important part of the game that really ends up being 40-50% of the characters' personalities! We have around 15 unique quotes per hero, so that's almost 400 quotes in the game!

As for which bug we'd each be, good question haha... I'll have to ask the other guys and get back to you!

And yes, that is the Tarantula Mad Scientist at the end of the character reel ;) The big characters like the Mouse, Robot and Tarantula are legendary heroes - where you only control one (extra powerful) hero, as opposed to a team of two.
