Ok, thoughts/speculation/picture dissection time! I had loaded these on my iPad and pretended to be playing the game like I was a 5 year old again messing around with the arcade machines at Pizza Hut #1 I love the over-the-shoulder view, much more than the current BH view. I love range combat so much more and find in H&C it is a better fit for my play style... #2 In shot 3, there looks like some... turrets? permanent base upgrades? there? PLUS the neutral flag in the top right... a capture point? #3 the maps look simple, but larger, per Foursaken's statements about maps earlier in the thread... I would love to, with ranged combatants, to be able to take cover behind a cheese wedge or something and blast away... #4 pics 1 and 2 definitely look like they are from the same round/game, same bugs, just leveled up... in 2 you can see Beetle hanging out way off on the top right of the map, guarding perhaps? #5 Who are those little buggers following behind the green slug in #1? #6 The bolt/hammer thing... wonder if that is the materials needed to upgrade stuff besides money? Just some thoughts, looking forward to it!!!!!!!!!!
Good observations! #1: The 3rd person camera is definitely nice to look at, but I definitely still prefer overhead most of the time, personally Good part is you can switch during the game, at any time, because they do both have their pros and cons for sure. #2: Those are indeed turrets. And yes, there are capture points Some objectives (and in MP) will require you to take and hold strategic points for a period of time. You can build turrets on them too, so you can actually create some forward support nodes. There are also Mercenary Camps, where you can buy different types of creeps to fight for you. #3: There is indeed cover We're adding some bits and pieces to gameplay to make it a bit more tactical this time around, cover being one of them. #6: Yep, spare parts are now a separate base building currency that you have to actually collect (along with food) and bring back to the base. We think it offers a better flow to the game, and fixes a lot of potential problems in multiplayer (people not wanting to spend THEIR gold on base defense as opposed to upgrading their own heroes, for ex). In a nutshell, its an action/defense/strategy hybrid... a lot of elements from Heroes & Castles (if you're familiar with it) were actually precluded by Bug Heroes. You play as a team of bug heroes (in BH2 its a team of 2), switching between them on the fly. Each hero has their own strengths and weaknesses, so switching to the correct hero in the correct situation plays a big roll (for example when a large horde of weak, melee fleas comes charging in, you want to make sure to have someone with crowd control or good armor to take the hits and fight them off, as opposed to a frail, ranged hero for ex). You can also give your 2nd hero basic commands like "move here", "follow me" etc. This way you can set up pincer attacks, offer cover fire, etc. Then, you basically explore around the map collecting food and spare parts, bringing it back to your food stash to store it. You can fortify your food stash with turrets, as well as heal your heroes with the food in it (which actually depletes the health of your food stash - so its a neat little give/take system there). Finally, your ultimate goal is to survive, defending against different bugs that siege your base, attack your heroes, etc (in endless mode at least - in Bug Heroes 2 we have a whole new, progression based mission system, with more of a clearly defined path). Of course there's a bunch more to it, but that's the basic gist
FM: Can you share list of things that have to be done before release? I'm sure you have some "to do" list It's like release date to me and you can't be mistaken
Oh my gosh. Epiphany time So you know how a lot of 4saken's games have been games where you control a hero then there's other units around you that battle? And we want a scifi 4saken game? Well, doesn't that make you think of Star Wars Battlefront? (; (; (;
Dude, you got to play bug heroes. I think it's free. The game is anazing. Fire it up for about 20 minutes and you'll get a good fence on how the game is.
Now, topically Made it so far yesterday in the Attic again, for me level 27 is far ... for me, that is truly the purest of the levels, with its open floor plan and ability to have some obstacles but also some room to maneuver. The office is my second favorite... Played a bunch of arena, too... will that be making a comeback? Love the Termite's turrets... I will spawn a ton of those. Added in the Spider's abilities to help take down centipedes... I did buy the IAP for alternative skins, which says there are special skills for the alternatives, but Snail/Ant are the same abilities? I do look forward to the Heroes & Castles-esque skill sets if I am getting what the screenshots show...
Each skin has one ability swapped out with the character they are replacing. By that I mean, one attribute is different. Spider has assassinate, but the wasp has more speed (or something like that), the mosquito has vampirism, the snail has hardened shell or armour instead. Actually, it is Beetle's alter ego that has speed instead of armour. I do wish the character select screen did have a page showing what each character has - you can't view them until you are in a game.
This will be a great game, played the crap out of the first one and heroes and castles is probably the best game I've ever played and it will never leave my iPhone or iPad . Basically foursaken is the best,
Well, we've had to push the release date back Looking like a mid Feb release now - we need the extra time for polish and making sure the gameplay is perfect. In the meantime, here is one of the most powerful enemies, the War Snail! Towering over anything else on the battlefield - packing independently firing machine guns and artillery, heavy plated armor, and bladed tusks - this guy is nigh unstoppable without the absolute best of the best equipment.
Seems so, although I'm pretty sure this enemy was in the original game as well, or at least some variant.
