The levels are well designed and offer a nice challenge if you want to collect everything. The performace is a little frame-y on my device, looked to be about 20-25fps. I'm going to try to address this in the first update, but in the meantime try closing down all other apps and restarting and hopefully that will help a bit. Thanks for the feedback! Think of it as being more along the lines of the Rayman iOS games, just with a lot of weapons and stuff. BigKid Icarus Well-Known Member Jan 31, 2014 68 0 0 Video game designer. I made a decision early on to use HTML5 because it was much simpler to develop for, in spite of performance concerns. I'm going to look into perf/memory restrictions and try to improve that in the next update though for sure. BigKid Icarus Well-Known Member Jan 31, 2014 68 0 0 Video game designer. I'll keep an eye on this thread. chief78 Well-Known Member Jul 24, 2012 2,316 7 38 #11 chief78, Dec 23, 2014 First imps: this game is a hellotta fun! Easy controls, and there are levels, so progression forward happens automatically, but it is structured (as the dev mentioned) like Rayman. I like the progression system, and can't wait to see what's to come. Fantastic game, with good humor. Oh, an NO IAP's. Austin TX http://www.reboundstudios.com #18 BigKid Icarus, Dec 23, 2014 That was a big debate I essentially had with myself early in development. People either love virtual controls or hate them, and I just wanted to see if I could pull off a SNES quality platformer on iOS where the player only needs to worry about jumping. I wanted to see if I could lure hard core gamers (like myself) in with branching level design and challenging levels and jumping segments, while appealing to casual gamers (like my mom) by allowing them to only focus on aiming and jumping, and not shooting and moving on top of those things. I can definitely see doing another game like this in the future that has virtual controls, because if there's one thing Mikey Shorts taught us, it's that giant virtual buttons on a touch screen can work just as well as any controller out there. I appreciate the feedback though, and you're not alone in feeling this way! BigKid Icarus Well-Known Member Jan 31, 2014 68 0 0 Video game designer. Austin TX http://www.reboundstudios.com #19 BigKid Icarus, Dec 23, 2014 Thanks jpgold! No IAP is the only way I'll ever make games. I definitely prefer to present the consumer with the entire experience up front. Can you clarify what about the controls you'd like to be tighter? Maybe it's something I can look into in a future update? BigKid Icarus Well-Known Member Jan 31, 2014 68 0 0 Video game designer.
