Controls are a bit off, It is impossible to aim when you are surrounded by enemies. I had hoped for a more NOVA like control scheme. I hope we see better controls in the next update. That apart the game kick ass!
bought the game.. and the controls kinda suck... it is set in the fullest sensitivity but still its quite unresponsive... GL should have implented MC's control scheme... with regards to graphics, i prefer having the bloom effects turned off... framerate is also disappointing in my IPT3G
I agree the game is good but once you have experienced the controls of NOVA and MCS and you compare them to these NOVA and MCS feel better. I love WW2 games myself which is why I am frustrated by the controls. If I had not played NOVA or MCS and I got this game I would think that it is the best FPS out there without peer. Not being able to shoot by holding down the fire button and then aiming by dragging your finger around like in MCS is a big let down for me personally. You end up having to strafe just to aim for example at times. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of work went into this game. The multiplayer is the best out of all of the FPS games. For me the only thing that holds this game back are the controls.
I agree with some of what you're saying, and I have both NOVA and MC:S. I think that NOVA's controls are the smoothest of all of them, but they're also more basic. You don't have as many options in NOVA as you do in BiA. I think the controls in BiA are fine, there's just more of a learning curve. I don't see strafing as a huge issue, but I understand that others may disagree.
Some issues I've only played the first mission and one multiplayer match but I've run into a couple issues. 1-Look sensitivity is kinda low, I'd like it to be higher. Like the current one could be 50% in the options or so, as it is it's 100%. 2-Multiplayer spawn rules. This problem is a carryover from MC and NOVA. There simply don't seem to be any rules governing spawning in multiplayer so you get unlucky spawns near enemies. Once I even spawned with an enemy right in my sights! Right there! All I had to do was stand there and shoot and I got a kill!
Ok, from what I'm reading about the controls, you can't aim and shoot at the same time like in eliminate and nova... if this is true then its a large step backwards, I guess I won't buy
Well you can, but it doesn't work well with the modern combat controls. If you like Eliminate there's controls like that with tap to shoot and higher sensitivity.
I actually like the controls. It would be better if you could turn the sensitivity up higher, but I think they work well. The only big complaint I have with Gamelofts games is that you have to beat the game in order to unlock hard difficulty. Normal difficulty should be the easy difficulty, and if hard is anything like NOVA's "hard" or Modern Combats "hard" then it should be the new normal, and than they should have an actually hard difficulty. Also they should have all the difficulties already unlocked. I hate playing a game all the way through just so that it can be some what of a challenge.
There's a trick that works in this game as well as MC and NOVA. If you press the shoot button and keep your thumb down you can continue to fire while you slide your thumb around to aim.
It's awesome Please, seriously stop being so ungrateful. It's awesome! You actually get used to it. I didn't notice any faults really....
i agree generally with your sentiment, but i wouldn't say that people are being "ungrateful" - we're paying for the game after all. it's not like gameloft is making these games out of charity, they're in it to make our money. therefore as customers, we should be able to criticize a product when it is warranted.
Woah, I was expecting a 100+ page thread here! I'm half way through downloading this, excited about the online play. How are the graphics? = Modern Combat, > Modern Combat or < Modern Combat? >.<
I don't like I haven't tried the online yet and I hope it's good because tha campaing is so lame. The bad guys just stand right in front of you and might as well say shoot me and your teamates are not able to kill anyone so they shouldn't be there. Graphix are very nice but I think better gameplay is way more important. The $.99 games just keep looking better and better. I think I will stick to the cheap games and stop giving gameloft 8 times the amount of money for games that seem to lack the extra attention and controls that are good. They had good controls in nova ( if it ain't broke then it don't need no fixing)
Online issues: I seem to be the only person who has these problems. I can log in, get into a game, but then I get no connectivity after a min and I'm out . Why? My connection is fine.
Wow, there are some very douchey comments on this thread about the controls. Aside from the sensitivity issue (which isn't actually that bad) the controls are perfect. They may not come easy straight away, but if you actually give them a chance, they are excellent. When I reached the Sicily campaign, I actually turned the auto-aim off because I was finding it too easy. Remember, this game isn't about run-gunning through rambo style like in NOVA. The bulk of the game requires you to take cover, popping out of cover occasionally taking shots at the enemy. What I love about this game is the sheer variety and diversity of the gameplay. Gameplay elements include firing from MG nests, firing the MG on top of a Jeep, piloting a glider, using a Flak gun to blast away tanks and infantry, flanking MG nests, raiding bunkers to search for secret documents, driving tanks and much more. Graphics are excellent, they seem to get better and better as the game goes on. Better graphics than PSP, IMO. Sound is spot on, the voice acting seems to be better than in previous GL games. Gameplay length is very good. Each mission lasts for about 20-30 minutes and there are 16 missions. 25 * 16 = 400 400/60 = 6.6 hours of gameplay. 8 hours if you take more time in the missions. Then there is multiplayer which is pure awesome. No lag, very smooth gameplay. 3 vs 3 TDM is excellent. Nice variety of maps, weapons etc. I haven't encountered a single hacker from playing many matches. The reports of hackers must be false, it's just the beta-testers had a high scores before the game was released, misleading some people into thinking that they are hackers. So if you actually take the time to play the game, rather than writing it off after a couple minutes of playing it, you will find it to be a very enjoyable game and a worthy sequel that combines the best parts of the first BIA, Terminator and MC: Sandstorm. Definitely recommended.
Just had this awesome glitch. On the third mission in the campaign after you pass the first town the guy tells you you have to go on foot. After the short video clip I found myself running around with the vehicles machine gun turret! It stays unless you switch guns.
i love this game I adore this game. The gameplay is immersive, the storyline is incredible, the controls are great, and the multiplayer maps are expansive. I dont think there is a better game currently released for the iPhone/iPod Touch. This beats modern warfare mobilized (on the DSi) hands down. I beat mobilized in about two hours total gameplay. This game has taken me longer than that on easy and I'm not even done with the campaign yet, and the online multiplayer? Well that's just amazing. This game offers unprecedented depth and graphical capability. With N.O.V.A. and GT Racing: Motor Academy, all I can say to Gameloft is "Keep up the great work guys".
I honestly think that most of the negative comments here are from people who either don't own it, or didn't want to like it going in. That may sound strange, but there are those who have this odd desire to hate on something popular, so much so that they'll pay 8 bucks for the privilege. I think it's amazing that I'm playing something this impressive on my phone for less than 10 bucks. Honestly. I've paid a lot more for a lot less.
