We're doing everything we possibly can to make this game enjoyable to the user with a system that never forces the user to pay for the experience. Free-to-play has earned a stigma to many gamers, that is something we're working hard to change! free game. In app purchases that are non-game breaking and eventual add-ons and DLC planned!
Oh don't get me wrong I've nothing against a free download with iap to unlock the full game or extra content, its free to play style consumable currency and things I don't like. I'll gladly pay to unlock extra content (forever) or to remove adverts Anyway the games looking sweet, can't wait.
I'm really hyped about the game, after the video. I really like the turn based planing phase gameplay. But i really hope, that we'll see larger maps, that are more open and hopefully not only indoor. But so far, this is one of my most wanted ios games at the moment
I'm really digging the indoor locations. They were the most exciting and tense areas in XCOM but there weren't very many of them.
Don't forget Space Hulk There seem to be quite a few similar strategy games in the works, I wonder if it's worrying any of the devs. The reality is I'm just gonna buy the crap out of all of them.
Hmmmm..... I think this game looks very interesting, something different to the Rainbow series but developed for phones and tablets, BUT, you HAVE to get the IAP right, and by that I mean let people unlock the full game or a third of the game via IAP. Sorry but I hate having to spend endless cash for guns and ammo and health etc. Why devs can't just charge a premium price is beyond me, do you really make that much more money from IAP?
We'd rather more players get the game than do this to make money. We're gamers making games, and we believe the game is strong enough to warrant a strong F2P system. As stated; none of the gating stuff, none of that pay-to-win system and all of it workable for players. Anyways, we've just gotten back from PAX East, and we're settling in for the evening. Things went over quite well. Got some cool pics on our Facebook page of Tycho playing our game, as well as pics of Polygon, Joystiq and others stopping by to play. Cool! Glad it went well. Joystiq said a few indie devs for mobile had some pretty crazy locations for demos (under staircases ) F2P can be done well. People have been burnt alot in the last 18months by freemium but as gamers I'm sure you will avoid it Is there plans to have perma death in this? This might sound stoooopid but the other day I was thinking it would be cool having a similiar set up to Real Racing 3's time shifted multiplayer. Mainly in the way that every player could have a Breach and Clear captain. This captain could be customized with unlocks earned in game. When one of your game centre friends fires up a round they can include your captain as a squadmate. It appears in game with your profile pic and deets. Your captain can only be gravely injured in their game (unplayable for 6-8 rounds) but is always playable to you unless injured in your game. Might just be a cool way to build community. It was fun in RR3. Not so much that your racing them live but it adds personality and would be a cool twist on Xcom. Sorry for the rambling. I should be studying
Well I hope you just charge for map packs and DLC, that's fine, but please no £60 for big gold reserves like what Gameloft do, at least it's optional, we won't even mention RR3, i just hate F2P because of the potential of spending endless $$$. I appreciate your a business and need to make money and profit to continue existing let alone make it worth making the game, just when you see the top ten grossing apps are all F2P then you worry.. I really appreciate your reply too it's great you come here and liase with players. As said, having watched your gameplay demo it's an interesting game design, I like the bit where you have to move to cover and look in certain directions etc. The way you can spin around the map is great, it does look like a game for a tablet size screen though, so is it coming to Android soon? I have a Nexus 7 and iPhone 5 but will get it on my Nexus. Also I wish Pax was covered a lot more in the media, at least we have You Tube to get our videos haha.
Just got back from PAX...and man, we had a heck of a good time. Lots of positive reception to the game, we're pretty stoked to get this one out in the coming months. This will give you guys a look at the gameplay, as well as a glimpse of the technical stuff for equipment, loadouts and all that. The SEALs depicted are a 'base loadout' look, while the JTF2 is more akin to today...(disregarding the fact that they are using CADPAT rather than Multicam in the AO....we're trying to give visual identifiers to these units...you'll be able to customize these guys like crazy in the end run). We're looking to do this so no one feels like they have to pay, more that they want to. No gates, no maintenance fees. We have a few things in there to really stir it up, mainly through premium content that is fun and unique. We're going for convenience spending, not pay-to-win.
