The community manager himself has adressed this issue on the previous page..Which this particular post is in..
Little buggers like to run around and try to get behind your team if they can. The higher difficulties are not for the faint of heart...and I don't say that to entice. I say it because the Mighty Rabbit guys made em a real challenge .
This just gets better and better. I love how it looks in the launch video. The artwork and the movements look very cool. I thought I was already hyped enough for this one. I stand corrected. Also, at the launch special price and a day one gift (which it always for me anyway), it feels like we're actually ripping the developer off. Awesome info there Josh and Praetorian (infamy awaits it appears), thanks very much for that.
Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot to see people so positive about the work. We're confident we can deliver a great game and the best part is we are so close to launch! We'll have details on the Day One gift soon!
Holy shit, so 1.99 is a launch price?! I already had 3.99 ready for an instant purchase but this is even more awesome. First, they go the premium route and now launch at a reduced price Hope there is some kind of content IAP, would love to support the devs even more. We need more devs like this Can't wait
More or less correct with the 1050mb if downloading from App Store on device as opposed to iTunes. 750mb will do if you download to iTunes and install that way. Give yourself another 100mb of leeway for direct download just for some memory cache conversion things. So 1200mb total just to be 100%.
The $1.99 deal is a limited time, will run for a week. Glad you guys are enjoying it! I'll let the MR guys answer that question on total installation size!
Sorry, I don't know the specifics on how much space you'll need to download the game. I just know the size of the download (~325MB) and the uncompressed size (~750MB). We're really excited for the game to launch on Thursday - can't wait to see everybody's impressions. I'm pretty proud of the game, so I hope everyone enjoys it.
I was sharing the info on launch price and release date on NeoGaf and of course one person was worried that the game would have IAP and eventually go free. What's your response to that? Me personally, I've been ready for this game since I heard about it. Can't wait for Wednesday night
Looks fantastic. Loving that launch price and installed size. Sadly, I've been getting so many massive games lately, I still am going to have to figure out what to sacrifice to the iOS gods to make room. Or frantically try to finish something!
There are small, non-essential IAPs within the game. This game is completely premium oriented, we just offer the option to do what you want with in-game currency (spend a couple bucks for tons of silver.) In-game, you can earn just about everything through normal progression in a very reasonable amount of time. We did a lot of revamp work on the in-game economy, a lot of care was put into ensuring this did not have the negative feelings that many associate with F2P. Luckily, from the get go we were focusing on making a reasonable F2P systems (more like what you see with PC titles that run F2P.) We're confident that when you purchase the game, you will get the correct experience. We offer a couple IAPs for just getting a ton of in-game silver should anyone want to get items even quicker. No gates. No 'bug your friends to play faster' No F2P.
Our publisher has made a pretty strong case that the F2P model was detrimental to B&C. As far as I know, the game will never revert back to being freemium. As our executive producer has mentioned in a few articles, the decision to go from free to paid was not a fickle business decision. We built Breach & Clear with an emphasis on fun, tactical gameplay - when it came down to "How do we make this free to play?", nothing made sense. We were at a crossroads of either shoehorning soul-sucking F2P nonsense in the game, or just giving players a solid premium experience. We opted to go premium because we didn't want to sacrifice the experience we had built. This actually made the F2P to Premium transition quite easy for us. We pulled out the premium currency, rebalanced the economy, and boom - done. A good quote from Bowling on our transition from F2P to Premium:
Just saw the latest trailed and im really impressed with what i see. I hope it meets or exceeds my expectations.
To expand on this, we took an incredible amount of time to balance in-game currency distribution in an incredibly fair way. The IAPs that are in B&C right now are absolutely non-essential. They will only be relevant to impatient gamers. No effort has been made to make the purchases more desirable or necessary. No content is locked behind a pay wall, everything (aside from the charity patches) can be earned through normal play. The charity patches result in no profit for us or the publisher, all proceeds from those go to the associated charity. Also, money does not trump strategy. In a theoretical multiplayer situation, the player with the better plan would always triumph over the player with better gear. There is no pay to win scenario in Breach & Clear.
Exactly. The team has worked diligently to provide a very core experience to mobile devices, without sacrificing the play experience to casual gamers. It's been a huge topic of discussion internally for everyone on the team, and the end result has turned into something we believe will satisfy the expectations of gamers who enjoy mobile titles, as well as start to bring about the idea that quality games can be on mobile devices for those more hesitant about the platform. And again, we cannot wait to hear feedback to grow and improve Breach & Clear. We'll be watching this thread, and others in an effort to interact and work with people who play this game. Can't wait .
Why can't there be more devs like you? I can't tell you how many promising games have been deleted from my device because of F2P BS. Very few do free to play right, most aren't just worth my time and storage space. Thanks for the in depth response and I applaud you for making that decision.
