who wants to run crappy 1st gen games and calls me an idiot for suggesting even 1/8th of his iphone get used
I wasnt expecting Epic Citadel but I was toying with the idea of getting this sequel from Game Loft, its too ugly for even my 2nd gen.. I almost barfed when I saw that face, even PoP has better graphics (great deal at .99) even that got a graphics update =p
Lastly, as a core gamer whom spends good money within the AppStore, wouldn't I technically be the demographic they (game companies) could by some peoples logic hope for? So yes to another post, gameloft can make their games play better and look better. They could update their engine at the very least.
Agreed, like I said, I dont even want that game on my 2nd gen touch.. Bigger games are headed down the line, luckily we didn't buy into the iPhone 4 for gaming, because we wont see these goodies till iPhone 5; once companies realize that these games are threatening PSP and Nintendo went from "iphone isnt a threat" to "iphone is a threat"
Device space is of no concern ATM, this iPad has 32 gigs so a game with increased size is fine. Heck I rebought Chinatown wars just for the Hd and that doesn't disappoint, at least it's crisp and looks cleaner than most gameloft games with muddy textures and block hands
Alright fair enough. But the Unreal 3 engine was just demo'd a couple weeks ago, the 4th gen devices have barely been out. Gameloft has acutally been raising the stakes for quite some time, but console quality games aren't developed overnight. My point is that lots of developers have been succesful with casual games, and imo, the success of the Appstore is built on the foundation of casual games. If the bar (and corresponding price point) is raised to the point of PSP/DS/console whatever, wouldn't most gamers just opt for the PSP/DS/console? If I wanted to pay ~$20 for a portable game I'd get a PSP or DS personally... ya know, one of those systems made pretty much exclusively just for playing games... with buttons.
Their sequel didnt have to be Epic Citadel to get me to buy it.. but I sure wasnt gonna pay for w/e 8 polygon character they had on the big splash picture in the review.. Even the HD games are a dissapoint, I prefer the non-HD version because it doesn't call-out the low polygon count and simple textures. (the iPad is schooling these HD versions) edit: Obviously you guys dont like me, Outkast I was saying the same thing the whole time? Do I give you little angry baby tears too?
Off to sleep hopefully all this wasn't for naught and some see reasonable logic. No reason to accept less than we know the device can produce.
Great topic! My son plays Gameloft SpiderMan and he enjoys it so much that I would spend $30 or more on a sequel. See your son happiness is priceless. I mean it.
Hey buster I was talking to the other guy What? Yes but they're big crocodile tears. You have a great night and seriously plz tell me who you buy your drugs from, I want. I'm off to smash my iPhone 4 now, yes, I too have an iPhone 4. I use it to call my bitches. PS - I don't know about the other guys but remember Outkast1 loves you <3
That was the last game I bought from them. My boycott started a while back. That game looks so awesome! But, I can't get used to the controls no matter how I set them up. I must now depart this thread. Fanboys, you can post your hate on my profile.
I do agree with the point that with the new tech available, developers should be looking at producing better looking games, if they don't people will end up feeling a bit ripped off. But the iphone 4 has only recently come out, and the unreal engine even more recently, developing games that take full advantage of the tech will take time but good things are to come
