Boxy Kingdom is an endless suspenseful arcade/adventure game of pure survival, exploration and looting, and introduces an all-new type of gameplay, the Backstab move. The game is bursting full of quests, heroes, orcs, dragons, ghosts, and goblins, and tons of treasure. And if you can play Crossy Road (we love you, Hipster!), we use the same super simple controls! Boxy Kingdom is different each time you play. You can get all 35 playable Boxy Heroes, most who add a fun new twist to the gameplay and have distinct personalities--especially the powerful Legendary heroes. This innovative game was developed by several of the famous lead designers/creators behind Gears of War, Max Payne, Duke Nukem and Prey. Combined these games made billions commercially. Now this same talent is breaking into the mobile market with their most creative and compelling game yet, one that will define a new category of mobile adventure/looting/exploration gaming. To play you simply tap and swipe the screen to move your character past dangers, traps, pitfalls, puzzles, and creatures of numerous types, all the while collecting as much loot as you can carry (and you can carry a LOT). You also earn gold and gems by defeating enemies with the deviously addicting backstab attack! Dispatching enemies for points and plunder has never been so fun on a mobile device! The "Cool Stuff" List! o You've discovered the famous Amulet, now escape with your life from the Guardian Dragon! o Numerous unique enemies want you for dinner, like fire breathing drakes, skeletons, dividing blobs and more! o Numerous terrain types to explore--none of it very safe, sorry! o 35 Boxy Heroes to play, including 6 Legendary heroes with super cool abilities. o Each character can level up to a max of 20--gaining loot with each level and a special ability at the level cap. o Over 100 Quests to complete, each giving a sweet reward. o Tons of humor. (Some probably cornball! We’re just developers, not comedians!) o Loot the dead bodies of your fallen friends, mythical characters, actual famous people, and the top players on the Leaderboard! o Tons of cool gameplay tricks and secrets to discover! More than tons, in fact! o Speed Run mode is built into the game! Seriously super speedy fun! o We guarantee that this game is more addicting than country fried bacon. o The amazing world of Boxy Kingdom awaits!!! The voxel graphics and lighting effects look really really good! Lots of characters with different skills and animations, and good voice acting too. I instantly bought "Mindy Jones" after trying her! Great "crossy road" model, with no timers and no forced ads. Simple gameplay, perfect for quick sessions, and the looting is so satisfying! This certainly deserves more attention! thumbs07 Well-Known Member Jul 20, 2010 916 0 16 UK #5 thumbs07, Apr 29, 2016 Well I like this. Boxy Kingdom is awesome and we've been fortunate to have played the build throughout development. We love what the team is done and the things they've implemented and you ALL should play this one ... a lot Qwertz555 Well-Known Member May 22, 2010 2,318 29 48 #7 Qwertz555, Apr 29, 2016 Agree. Different skills and animation is always clever for more replay value. And important (for some) to mention: you get a separate leaderboard with 1 life! Thanks for this rare species, Devs. I bought (my not needed) Heart doubler due to that. @Devs Some of the screenies seem to have the resolution i'd like to see in the actual game. It looks a bit too blurry for my old eyes. Should i reinstall the game? A lot of talent worked on this one. The CR formula is becoming the next match-3 and people are over doing it but this one is good. Lighting effects are fantastic. Controls are great. I was a little confused at first but it looks like you're not allowed to attack enemies from the side. I like this much better than Quest Keeper. Haven't played this a ton, but it seems you can level up your individual characters which is very cool - what that does for you I'm not sure, but I'm excited to find out! I'll join Qwertz and support the game with the coin doubler - if I run across a heart doubler I'll grab that too. Also, good point about the separate leaderboards; very good choice to keep them separate (If you want to sneak in some GC achievements I won't object). Great job devs!!! Mr. Charley Well-Known Member Sep 6, 2008 2,629 38 38 #11 Mr. Charley, Apr 29, 2016 Are the hearts only for continuing? And yes, there is a heart doubler as well JD_2020 Member Feb 25, 2010 13 0 0 #12 JD_2020, Apr 29, 2016 Wow, thanks for the kind words Matt! Josh from Dream Team here. Happy to answer any questions you guys have. Just a few I saw so far: 1. Yes, the Hearts are only used for Continuing the game. One thing you'll discover the more you play is just how much there is to explore the further and deeper you get. The game also ramps-up significantly in difficulty past the 400 steps mark, so for a lot of folks, you'll only be able to experience that by spending some hearts. Though worth noting, my single life high score still stands in first place worldwide at 758 -- I welcome you to get into a high-score war with me 2. The only combat mechanic is indeed the backstab (no attacks from the side or front). This makes combat less about Kiting, and more about strategy and navigating the ebbs and flows of enemies. Though, there are plenty of little hazards that can be weaponized to your advantage. The fire braziers, poison mushrooms, and even the statue sentries can all work to your advantage in key scenarios 3. The depth of content is something a lot of reviewers and influencers haven't yet discovered (because the game is just so new). It really will take a few hours of play before you really start to appreciate what Boxy Kingdom has to offer. We're hoping the game is addicting enough to get you to that point though. We've been playing for months and still have a blast. I was the one running our launch live stream, and was only supposed to play for a couple hours. Ended up playing for like 5 haha. Here's our Launch Trailer, which shows a little bit more than the 30-second app preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iuhWJexhtY Hope you enjoy the game!! <3 -Josh crhinehart New Member Apr 29, 2016 2 0 0 Project Director - Designer - Programmer Madison, WI #13 crhinehart, Apr 29, 2016 Boxy Kingdom Programmer here: We'll look at the resolution issue on the 6. Similar in concept to a lot of games that have come out recently (e.g. Looty Dungeon). However, something feels more dynamic about this one. Maybe it is that the game moves at a faster pace than Looty? Also, the hearts seem plentiful and the F2P options fair. Some suggestions: - I think I would enjoy have a select few quests highlighted rather than the huge list of quests. Having 1-3 highlighted would give better short term focus more so than just a massive list. - There doesn't seem to be a way to buy the coin or heart doubler from the shop. I've only seen it as an option after dying. Not sure if this is a conscious decision, but you might want to add it as an option to buy from the main menu somewhere. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,489 177 63 #20 vectorarchitekt, Apr 29, 2016 If I had one wish for this game it would be to allow enemy attacks from the back and the side, so that you only take a hit when you collide with his front.
