Can you flip the screen orientation? The Pop up boxes and the settings look very iOS 5/6. Not used to seeing that so it definitely dates the app.
Hello everyone, I hope everyone had fun yesterday! Coins are currently a completionist element, but will open up "challenge" levels in future updates. These "challenge" levels will be very short, challenging stages for people to compete for the best times. I'm hoping to keep a steady supply of them coming via updates. Game Center is actually one of the first upgrades we have planned, but you're likely to see a few smaller updates first. Currently the screen orientation is locked so that it doesn't go crazy if you're using tilt controls and get a little over-animated. But having it switchable in the options menu sounds reasonable. I'll see what we can do. We have a much better options menu in the first update, which is on its way! Please keep the feedback coming. We want to make this game the best Bounce On yet. We have a lot of cool things planned and will let you know what's coming next as soon as we know. In the meantime, your requests may help us determine which things to prioritize. Thanks again, everyone! -Josh
So for those of you that have not picked up the game yet we are going to give away five promo codes to the first five people to PM me. We do ask that you leave your impressions here. Otherwise, we just hope you have fun. EDIT: I Just noticed that there is a promo code section of the forums I will just post the codes there.
To the devs: Thanks for the responses and activity. It would be great to update the style of the settings and other key areas of the game so it looks in line with the new OS. Just looks dated for a new game! And an orientation flip would be most welcomed! Its just the habit I have holding my phone and its case that makes it more comfortable to hold.
Game Impressions Bounce On Back by Iddy Biddy Games, is bigger than Iddy Biddy! The game-play is smooth and not buggy at all. The graphics feel like something straight out of a comic book, which is nice! You control this red ball character bouncing on enemies, while traversing through various twists, turns, loops, and jumps all cleverly put together into a side scrolling adventure! Along the way, you must collect giggles that were stolen from innocent children. The plot is so creative and funny. (Glad my giggles remain intact.) The sounds and background music fit the game really well, which ties the game nicely. I'm glad this was asked by someone earlier, the screen rotation option in a future update. That was my only suggestion as well. Overall, this is a fun title to pick up and play, you go at your own pace, so you don't feel rushed, so you may enjoy everything this game has to offer. With several challenges thrown into numerous levels, it's worth the price, and the replay value is very high, which is always something to lookout for in an app. Cannot wait to see what's in store in the future! I wish you the best with this app, and be sure to check out the game if you haven't done so already. Have fun, and keep on bouncing!
Updates incoming! Hi everybody! Just wanted to let you know what's on the way: Our first update (which should be available any time now) will have a better options menu, as well as a few minor changes and fixes. After that, the next update (which we're already hard at work on) will have the following: - Option to flip the screen - Gamecenter integration - Leaderboards - First batch of 'challenge' levels (short levels for players to compete against each other for best times) - Various fixes and updates As always, please feel free to share your experiences so far and let us know what you'd like to see in the future! Thanks! -Josh
Does the hero actually roll? I have yet to buy the game, but will eventually get to it sooner or later. I'm very glad you are continuing the trend that was set by the other releases of the Bounce On series by listening to the consumers feedback and such. Please tell me you're are going to update the game to actually display/show the hero "bounce" the ball rolling or at least have an option to turn off the eyes being open all the time? After watching some of the gameplay videos, he rolls nothing like previous games. In fact, it doesn't even look like he rolls at all. Instead looking stagnate with eyes open all the time with no visual appeal what-so-ever. I'm a long time player of the series, and both previous games have not left my iPhone since their release dates. I will be buying the game regardless. Just wanted to clarify my position towards this great series, and by no means want this post to be taken negatively by others who are enjoying the game.
We have plans for more interesting and dynamic eye animation, as well as some techniques for better conveying his rotation. But keep in mind that video compression tends to hide the rotation of Bounce's subtle texture, so you may find this isn't an issue for you in the actual game. Can anyone who's playing the game comment on this issue? That said, we'll be tweaking things until both the fans and ourselves are happy, and one thing we might consider is having an option for a more traditional Bounce animation where he closes his eyes during movement. Our overall goal is find new ways to express Bounce's personality through his visuals while also respecting his history. Your feedback will be essential in this process. -Josh
1.1 update So our first little update was approved and you should all be seeing a nicer options screen now as well as a few small improvements here and there. We're almost ready with our 1.2 update which will include Game Center, bonus levels for timed challenges (earned by collecting coins), and other various fixes and improvements. As always, please let us know what your think or if you have any issues or questions. Please don't hesitate to spread the word that a new Bounce On game is out. We would love to keep adding more free content and improvements in the future! Thanks all! -Josh Iddy Biddy Games
It would seem that there is an issue with GameCenter and the leaderboards. Times are not submitted when levels are completed nor are they updated with improved times over a previous time. This is referring to the Lite version.
Hi Golden Boy, I am seeing times for all Giggles on the leaderboards, but so far none on the Challenge levels, which does indeed concern me a bit. Is this happening in all cases or only in specific ones? Thanks for any info you can provide. -Ben
The times that are submitted concerning my Game Center ID are only seen because I went inside the dedicated Game Center application and clicked on the individual levels myself... magically it would then submit my timed scores. If I don't do this outside of the Bounce On Back app itself, none of my scores would be seen. For example, I just played a couple games of the challenge level titled "blocked challenge." However, the only reason why my score is posted is because I went inside the Game Center app and clicked on the leaderboard for the level. Then and only then my score is posted. So, times are not being posted inside the game itself, but rather only if you open up your dedicated Game Center app and click on each level you have a time for on the leaderboards or have completed inside the game. I hope this makes sense.
It does, but it makes me wonder if perhaps there's some kind of caching going on from Apple's end, and going to the leaderboards in the Game Center app forces a refresh. I'll look into it as soon as I can. Thanks for the report!
Suggestions and Issues WARNING: this post is rather long, but justified. The Bounce On series is simply great, I wish this new addition to the series would get more press, along with added players. One of the original games in the infant years of the App Store that hasn't died over the exhausting list of apps currently available. I've been a long-time fan of the series dating years back (time sure does fly) and a huge supporter of its development. In order to continue supporting the game and helping by giving player feederback, I have some suggestions and see some issues that I would like to discuss. Issues: 1.) Leaderboards - this was already mentioned in a previous post and is being looked at. I hope it's an easy fix. 2.) Pause Button - In the Overworld area the pause button covers up progress of levels when you move over a door to enter. For example: If I'm working on a level and have completed 2 out of the 3 objectives (say adventurer and raspberries) and go to the door to that level, it's completely covered up by the pause button. 3.) giggle_not_collected - This one I believe is a coding error that should be an easy fix. If you're inside a level, pause the game and want to see a time for one of the objectives, for example "raspberries," that you haven't completed yet it will simply give you this statement "giggle_not_collected." I'm sure you would rather have that display something, dare I say, prettier or more appealing to the players eyes. 4.) Restarting Levels - This is referring to restarting a level from the pause menu, whether because you want to get a faster time for a challenge level or found a better path for an objective. What I see happening is when you restart a level, you can actually start to roll before you can tap the screen to jump. There is a delay for tapping, but not for tilting. You can clearly test this yourself, there is at least a .5 second delay from when you restart a level. Example: Try the challenge level "block challenge." Proceed to play half-way through it and restart the level from the pause menu. When the time starts in the corner try to roll and tap at the same time, you can clearly begin to move BUT if you try to tap there is a delay before it registers. This is an issue for players of challenging levels that require you to jump over obstacles right away in the game. This causes you to lose valuable seconds of a faster time. In level 3, if you restart the level from the paused screen while playing the level, you have to wait over 4 seconds to trigger the first switch to open a path. You can roll or jump all over that switch, but you have to wait a very long time before it triggers. This is easy to recreate multiple times. Suggestions: 1.) Pause Button - Give it some opacity to see through into the background. This would fix the issue of not seeing how many objectives you have completed in the Overworld when you go to enter a door. Or, move the pause button all together. Maybe to the far right/left under the other respective displays. This would also help for the odd placement of the button, making it easier for players to reach. 2.) Traditional Rolling Animation - Please, please, please bring back the older animations of Bounce rolling, or have an option to allow players to decide. In my opinion Bounce looks like he simply glides across those beautiful levels instead of rolling. This may be because of his eyes always being open, but for some reason I can not tell whether he is rolling or gliding. It's as if you took a still picture of Bounce, glued it to a stick and proceeded to walk while a train passes by in the background. 3.) Bitty Coins - Have them displayed in the Overworld screen. 4.) "Weeeeee!" - Old time players will understand what I mean by this. When Bounce would roll down a hill he would say "weeeee!" I loved that. In this version of the game, he hardly says it at all. Maybe incorporate a more repetitive "weeee!" when he rolls down a hill. PS: I love the updated version of the "Oh NOOOOOO!" Made me smile when I first fell to my death. Please be aware that the suggestions are just that, suggestions. I am not demanding anything be done or trying to boycott this wonderful game by any means. I'm just a long-time player and fan who has never stopped playing the originals, ever. So, some of my suggestions may seem odd to newcomers of the series.
Thanks, Golden Boy! We love feedback like this! These are all things we have ideas for remedying and believe we have some great ways to clean them up and add some great polish. The holidays have slowed us down a bit, but we have more updates in store soon! I'm going to try and address some of the things you mentioned in a more detailed reply in the next few days, so stay tuned. With most updates we hope to add additional challenge levels to keep people competing and having fun with new content. We also have some really exciting ideas for world 2. World 1 was mostly about updating the engine, exploring Bounce's gameplay history and adding some new touches. But with world 2 we're planning to push some really fun new gameplay elements that should go really well with the series but are also new and really interactive. Thanks for your feedback as always, and know that we're listening! -Josh
Hello everyone, I had mentioned talking about some of the things we're going to do with Bounce On Back, and apologize for not posting sooner. We have a lot of things going on here and I want to figure out a few things before posting more. But there is more coming. Thanks for reading this! -Josh
