Big Pixel Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2009 228 0 0 London http://www.bigpixelstudios.co.uk #13 Big Pixel, May 21, 2013 Hi, We have ads displayed sometimes once a game is finished (it doesn't happen after every game). We had to do this for players who get the app for free. Players who originally paid for the game will not see any ads at all, which we thought was fair. Hope this helps clarify how the ads work. Thanks sink_or_swim Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2012 3,504 5 38 Germany #14 sink_or_swim, May 21, 2013 If this is true, I wonder why not every dev is doing it that way. So I'm curious if the early customers have ads or not. Maybe Andy or Gabrien can answer it because they bought the game. Andy C83 Well-Known Member Oct 20, 2010 3,627 20 38 Over the Rainbow #15 Andy C83, May 21, 2013 I bought the game, but deleted soon after because the performance on the 4th gen iTouch was pretty poor. I've upgraded now, and I'm wondering whether it'll know whether I've paid for the game or not, in terms of showing ads. I guess we'll see. This reminds me, I need to check out Froggy Splash again. Big Pixel Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2009 228 0 0 London http://www.bigpixelstudios.co.uk #16 Big Pixel, May 21, 2013 If you had iCloud enabled on your device, then when you re-download the game it will pull your save data from the cloud, and know that you bought the original version Unfortunately if you didn't have iCloud enabled, and the game was deleted, then we have no way of knowing that you bought the earlier version. I'm happy to skip past an ad every now and then for a quality free game like this, even if it's only temporarily free. Tango Well-Known Member Sep 11, 2010 455 0 16 #19 Tango, May 21, 2013 While I think it is fair to have ads in a free game, I find the "it will know you paid for it until you uninstall it and reinstall it" part just awful. I cycle through a lot of apps, play games for a bit then delete them and reinstall them after maybe an update. As a paying customer, it would tick me off to re-install and be greeted by ads in my formerly ad free game. Maybe the best solution for this sort of monetization, would be make the app free with an IAP to disable ads. I have no problem with this and you avoid the user must have cloud data to be remembered as a paying customer.
