If you've played BOT and asked... "What's up with the soccer ball?!" ...a new comic answers that question! Some of you might have seen me posting about "Project: Salvage" on these forums. Now that BOT #1 is available, I can discuss more about it. First thing, you can see the controversy for yourself. The app's loading screen contains the uncensored screenshot. That's right, this app is rated 17+. While downloading BOT #1, I saw this iTunes alert for the first time! ...but there's more to BOT #1 than "neathage" or mature themes. It's the story behind the game. When I created BOT, I thought that players didn't want to read a bunch of text. While playing online role-playing games, players just seem to skip it and run straight for the loot. I thought that they just wanted to play. And considering that the iTunes App Store is a global store, a sizable percentage of potential customers might not even be able to read English. But apparently, players do care about the story. That's what this comic is about. This comic shows the personalities of the characters in the game. It also gives clues to two of the quests in the game. If you like this story, and you want to see it continue, you might want to post up on the iTunes App Store listing for BOT #1. If the feedback for this app is good, then I'll probably continue the story. App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.
Here's an update about the 17+ rating on the app. It seems that I might have been overzealous in the rating. According to the feedback, there's nothing in the comic that warrants such a high rating. And so I thought about it... yeah, 17+ is like a porno or a violent horror movie. This app is nothing like that. So, I sent a new version off to Apple for review, with a lowered rating of 12+.
There just might be some justice in the world of BOT, but there definately isn't any physics - how she managed to stay in that top after running and jumping from building to building is beyond me. While it was nice to see why someone was asking me about a soccer ball in the game, I thought her outfit was a little over the top. (was too little over the top?) And did that grunt know he was hitting on an android?
It's the future. The advancements in women's garments are staggering. Ha ha, I'm happy to see that you're having fun with the story. Clearly Karen's outfit was memorable to you. So, I think she's dressed just right. That's actually the same outfit that she has on in the game, but you can't really see from the overhead view... and the fact that she's 32x32 pixels in the game might also have something to do with it. Ha! He's not hitting on her. He's teasing her, as you can tell by her immediate reaction. But he might be hitting on her too... she is cute.

I'm glad that you liked the app! An update was approved today... It's not a major change. I just lowered the rating and corrected a spelling error. So, for those of you worried about your parents getting mad about you installing a 17+ on your iPod Touch, that issue has been resolved. Now it's a 12+ app! I'm seriously considering continuing this series. It's been fun. So maybe there will be an August issue.
=oO Having more issues would be AWESOME!!! I'd love to really get into the Bot world... this helps... but I'd really really really enjoy more! =oD
