Neither do I, we'll stick with the iPhone vs DS vs PSP wars we've already had a million of thanks.

Wasn't all that interested until I read "Rocket Propelled Chainsaw Launcher"

I just couldn't get into fallout 3 when everyone else seemed to love it.
And I'm also playing uncharted 2 at the moment.

So should I get Borderlands or the new Batman? Anyone's comments/advice appreciated in helping me make the decision.

Borderlands if you've got a lot of time to spend playing it with other people... Batman if you're more into single player. Overall I'd say Batman is a more polished game, and also more unique, but once it's over there's not much left to it... Borderlands has more replay value but you really need to be doing it in co-op.

I hear that Borderlands story is a little shallow, but does it even have a legit story? Is the multiplayer in Borderlands anything like COD multiplayer? How would you describe or compare the controls in Borderlands?

I can tell you half the story right now... there's a mythical vault filled with treasure, may or may not exist... and lots of people want to find it, you're one of them.

...then you play the game, pretty much zero story occurs...

...then you get to the end and find out the answer, I haven't got there yet.

Multiplayer isn't anything like CoD cause it's mostly co-op... you're all working together, doing exactly the same thing you do in single player but with friends. There is an arena for PVP though so you can duel each other. The controls are pretty standard, more or less the same as CoD, maybe a couple of differences but easy to get used to. Movement and aiming feels fluid.

There is also a girl that kinda looks like Faith from Mirror's Edge thats shows up out of no were once-in-awhile to tell you you have to get to the vault

She reminds me of the girl from Evanescence... which isn't particularly good.

I've been playing Borderlands solo on my PS3 and I'm have a lot of fun. PS3 version has graphical glitches though (flickers during cutscenes and when you're looking at the map), but other than those hiccups, it's a very enjoyable action rpg shooter. The story is completely ignorable.

Not sure about problems in the multiplayer for PS3, but that seems to be something they need to fix and patch according to Borderlands official forums.

Apparently the multiplayer problem is with Gamespy... they don't handle PSN accounts properly. When I tried to look at my friends list on the game, it didn't show people who were actually playing the game, but for some weird freakish reason it decided to show people I'd deleted off my list months ago.

Thanks for the details. I'll still have to think about it all. I hear Borderlands has a great multiplayer but no story, yet I hear some say its better than Fallout 3 which had a good story and I loved that game. So I guess the question I gotta figure out is is it better than Fallout 3 and how much of the same feel do the 2 games have.

Oh well I bought (paid in full for reserve) COD mw2 today so I got that taken care of.

I prefer Fallout 3 at the moment, but I'm still waiting for my friend to come over and play couch co-op with me on Borderlands... I think it'll really start to get fun when that happens. The FPS element is better than Fallout, the gun combat is pretty much like any other FPS. Fallout was more RPG with only some FPS elements, Borderlands is FPS with RPG elements. If you mostly used VATS then you're probably more into the RPG side of things... but then again you said you like CoD so you're obviously a fan of shooting stuff too.

It's a tough call... ever played WoW? If you've spent a hours at a time grinding exp on that and enjoyed it, you should enjoy Borderlands. Most of the fun comes from shooting stuff (a lot, over and over... and then some) and collecting loot... which is almost always more guns.

I don't see much similarity between this and Fallout 3, other than the desolute landscape. And still, this is not some post-apocalyptic world where nukes have gone off, this is just a planet that isn't very developed. You won't get to customise your character very much at all either.

It's like comparing Diablo 2 to Elder Scrolls. (And I like both and if someone ask me which is better, I wouldn't be able to say.) To put it as short as possible, this is not a deep roleplaying game, it's a hack n' slash, with guns that is. (What would you call that? A lock n' load?)

Can anyone who has Borderlands say how many multiplayer modes there are? and briefly describe each mode and the objectives if you've played them all?
