I dont know how far ive gone inside the vortex, but it seems endless. What's difficult is that there arent any floors to aim your landing on. Instead, you need to aim to "touch" a floating debris/platform/demon worms/etc. to reset the jump/flap counter to keep going. This game still keeps on making things amazing for me. I think one of the hidden achievements has something to do with taking all 3 damsels to the temple Spoiler after you have brought the clock there This is what im going to aim for next.
Reading all your posts is just making me wanting to get further and further since it sounds like it just gets better and better. I absolutely love the game, but am still not that great at it (usually make it to the second boss and I think once to the third). I need to carve out more time in the day to play this (damn work and family...just kidding on the latter, of course)! Thinking once I unlock the 3 lives and 3rd wing upgrade (only have the 2nd one now), I'll get much further.
Even at this point where im at right now, the game still surprises me. Im sure you'll be too when you get farther. I havent even seen the golem yet. I suggest you get the wings up to 3 first. That final flap will be worth more than a life point or two more often than not. I have respecc'd my wings like 4 or 5 times now because my jailbroken 4S keeps on losing my upgrades. It isnt stopping me though, i notice i can get a lot of coins in the game anyway, like around 700 to 1500 per run (without wing flaps or with only 1) so it isnt so bad as im addicted to this. Im sure id have better progress if there's a fix for jailbroken devices already..
How are you getting so many coins? Guess just because you're getting further but don't think I've ever gotten more than 500 a game and that's only if I'm lucky. It amazes me that you're getting as far as you do since you're losing the upgrades everytime you play. But you do seem to be the endless runner king around here so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Thanks... Im no runner king, but i am humbled. I get the most coins when playing with Shaneela. She can blast everything in a cone in front of you at max charge. When you see enemies drop gold coins, dont shoot, or those coins disappear (weird, that one) when you shoot, and try to grab those gold coins. If you just want to farm, like I do when i start with little or no upgrades, avoid using warps or boosts. They get you farther faster, but they also make you miss opportunities for more chaos coins. My upgrade sequence is always Wing, Resu, Wing, Wing. Just works for me i guess. Also, with this strategy, you'll be picking up tons of grenades and boosts. So think of this as a strategy to earn both coins and consumables. Right now, ive got everything maxed again, with 18k coins left, enough to buy a few upgrades next time I lose all upgrades again.
Why do you buy every upgrade? You can get them from those monsters that leave power ups. The only upgrade that should be bought is the first upgrade for the wings. At least I only bought that... And the warp upgrades because I thought they would be bonus levels or something cooler
I was holding back for a bit on this one, because of the mentioned issues in the first few pages, but reading Exact-Psience's comments I think it's time I take the plunge on this title. It really just sounds to damn awesome.
I guess I like the extra score I get when I pickup wings, resus, grenades or boosts. Plus, with all the coins and non-grinding, I can afford them all anyway. I say non-grinding, because most of the time, i play to unlock more of the story, or to use another character, or to go as far as i can, or to get as much points as i can. Right now, im playing to try and see what happens if I choose the first option when taking each damsel into the temple with the clock in it. So far i did it with Shaneela. Catherine will be next... Later.
I dont really want to take the credit, but i hope you like it. Out of hundreds of runner games (yes hundreds) i have played, this is the deepest and most engaging of them all. Plus, it's just has too much going on even at first glance, that will tell you this isnt a Temple Run clone.
Well, for one I start in survival mode when I'm not in the mood to deal with the bosses, especially when a few of them appear during an actual stage, sometimes getting me killed. And by stage I mean not chasing you down a road or a train. That being said, on one of last story mode play throughs I nearly killed an Ogre or Golem (I forget what they are named), and I need to go back and score that achievement. Of course, one of the things that makes this game so fun is how seemingly random it can be...and it can take a loooong time before you cross one.
You have a gun for a reason. A lot of enemies will drop a gold coin, worth 100 coins, when killed. Also, ignore the chains of ten coins (which are worth 1coin each) and grab the ones worth 10 coins. Finally, get most of the consumable powerups by killing the orbs, instead of paying for them.
From the other side of the spektrum (endless runner non-fan, or possibly anti-fan. Or endless anti-fan), I wholeheartedly agree. This is a spectacular title, and the only runner I intend to remember. (Though One Epic Knight with the Subway Surfers-inspired controls coming in the next update might actually be a nice diversion at times. Subway Surfers was the first runner I actually enjoyed, if only for a few runs.) I was glad to see the developer declaring intentions of adding a touch-only control scheme in the future. I am actually enjoying this already (as the second tilt-reliant game ever), but once touch only hits, I'll be playing this like, well, like there's no end to the fun Dev, did you come across my two posts with suggestions on how to implement the touch interface and controls?
Ok, I've come across a bug that has halted my progression. I just purchased the mermaid (The first character I've unlocked). When I try a run with her, the tutorial begins, explaining her weapon. The game pauses for me to shoot her weapon. The fire button won't work, and I can't continue. I've tried about 4 times. I've tried swapping the sides that the fire and jump controls are on. I've tried going back, running with the default character, and then selecting the mermaid. Doesn't solve the problem. Every time I've had to force quit the application from the multitasking bar. BTW, I'm playing on a 4S. I'll try restarting my phone and seeing if that helps.
Did you tap on the instructions at the middle? I think that's what i did for each of the characters when i first used them. But i never had that problem on my 4s.
Take the credit dammit! Take it! Finally got around to playing a bit (read: planned 30 minutes, ended up playing nearly 2 hours), and all I can say is WOW. Took me about 10 fails before the first boss to adjust to how it's played, but after that the experience was much smoother (though having gotten enough coins for the first jump upgrade also definitely helped ). Eventually stopped finally when the train just wrecked me (pun most definitely intended), at a cool 3.5 million, 7200 meters run. For anyone still on the fence, just damn well get this already, it'll blow your mind.
Reading through the comments makes me want to play this game soo much. But I'm using a jailbroken iPod Touch.. Is there any way of getting around the problem, such as disabling iCloud or something?
I didnt try disabling icloud, but Gamesmold has the upgrade ready and waiting for apple's approval. I hope that doesnt take long. The only things affected by the jailbreak bug are the middle row upgrades, and the story elements that get saved. Oh, and the Survival mode unlock too. I was fortunate enough to test the new build, and everything's been fixed. The landing problem was also addressed so we can see easier where we land on. It's not a bad idea to get the game now, as what you have bought in upgrades, if removed by the bug, will be "reinstated" by the update.
I'm assuming he's referring to the camera. I've gotten much better and used to the camera, but do still find times when I fall due to missing a roof I couldn't see (sometimes even due to over use of the wings and getting too far up to see what's below). I'll be anxious to see how the camera is adjusted in the new version.
