Wow, I gotta say this is an excellent platformer. Nice visuals, cool chiptunes retro soundtrack, absolutely solid gameplay mechanics, and the double jump just makes this game a blast. Throw in the 5 goals for each level and this game had done insane replay value. Nice job guys! I have only one request, which is MFi support, which would just be awesome. The virtual controls are excellent though, and nothing to complain about. Thanks devs, for my new favorite platformer ## EDIT: Just noticed the last little tidbit in the app description, and it's coming, so my bad
The whole game is free and ad supported (video ads between levels, nothing during gameplay), or you can pay £1.49/$1.99 to remove the ads.
Just wanted to come back and say that I'm hooked (again). When I was beta testing, I only got through the first world, and it's been a blast going back and replaying through it. I forgot how hard some of those balloon medals can be. =oP I only saw about 4 ads the entire time... usually after every 3 levels... but I went ahead and got the ad remover, as well as placed Bloo Kid 2 on my GOTY list (with Autumn Dynasty Warlords, Out There and Castle Doombad). I'm hoping I can keep the list down to 20 by the end of the year... but I haven't really played a traditional platformer in a while, so I'm just eating this up. I wish you all the best with this, and hope that going the free + remove ads IAP works out for you! =oD
Oh, that was generous of them. Someono on the first page said differently so I got confused. I may throw in the $2 cus the ads are pretty annoying.
Awesome game. Love going for all the star medals for each level. Speaking of which, how the heck do you get the balloon from 1-3? I know what you need to do to get it but it's just barely out reach.
Trust me, I know exactly what you mean. It took me about an hour to get it, but it's possible. Double jumping off the second bee at the last possible second seemed to help me. What I cannot possibly seem to get is the first blue star of the castle above the front door.
It's similar to the balloon in 1-3. You'll need to wait for an enemy to come outside, bounce off it then double jump. I found bouncing off enemies quite hard as you have to press and hold when you jump if you want to bounce off an enemy on your first jump. I've lost track of the number of times I've tried to bounce on an enemy and double jumped just above its head, made worse by the fact that I've been alternating between this and Bloo Kid 1 which has no double jump. I've also noticed that the leaderboards are quite fragmented as I have friends playing all 3 difficulties. Perhaps your Easy star count could include stars earned in Medium or hard too?
Bloo Kid was one of those special iOS games that never really did get the recognition it deserved, and this just takes everything good about the first one, fleshes it out and turns it into a completely different monster. Love it! Also, here I was thinking "how in the world is this gonna make any money if the entire thing is free?", but I have to commend you on choosing to go with video ads. They're so godamn annoying that I'm sure anyone with half a brain will end up supporting you by removing the ads.
Ah yes, I understand now. Got it on the first try after reading that strategy. Holding the jump key on the first jump off of enemies before hitting jump again mid-air, is key to jumping higher (if that makes sense to anyone). If you simply tap jump to land on an enemy (finger off of the jump button at this point) and then try to jump again mid-air, you won't jump nearly as high. Thank you, sir!
