Any opinion on if it's worth making large groups of icons vs just clicking in groups of 2? I find that that larger groups don't give as much of a boost that I would expect. It seems better to set up small groups during the walking phase rather than a large group then hoping the new tiles coming in have more swords. Thoughts? Maybe different characters or different equipment make larger groups more worth it. Maybe we can get the guys from the Threes thread to do the maths.
There seems to be some confusion here, and I'm not certain it isn't mine. The TA review calls the game fast-paced and frenetic, and states that it is in realtime. But yet, combat sequences are as turn-based as can be (and suffer for it. Had the whole game been a realtime fast-paced experience of quick decisions and split-second mistakes, I think I would have enjoyed it in spite of the exceedingly simple puzzle mechanics). Am I missing out on a realtime combat toggle somewhere?
Yeah I noticed that in the review as well. The reviewer even goes on to say it keeps him on his toes and mentions tension. This is false and definitely not the case. I agree it might add to the game, probably not enough though.
Developer Here Oh my god hi! So, I apologize if things have been in the dark on the forums from me here, this is the first time I've seen this thread. A bit about "Dot Warrior Games", were a 2 man team here in Tokyo, Japan, an American programmer and Japanese artist. I'm the programmer/designer of this game. This is my first game I've ever shipped by myself so, sorry about any of the bugs! I am reading all of your comments and am incredibly blown away by the feedback. All/most of your concerns are currently being addressed as we speak. This weekend is Japans biggest indie game festival, Bitsummit, over in Kyoto. I'm going to be completely honest right now and say, yes, I rushed a bit at the end in order to ship for this event. Was it worth it? I'm not sure, but it sure felt good to tell people/press they could buy the game right then and there than say "please remember us next week-ish if/when it releases!" That said, I was literally bugfixing the game with one hand and showing people how to play the game with the other while talking to random press people at the same time. If you don't buy the game because of the bugs, I'll accept that and apologize that I kind of prevented you from playing our game. Honestly, I'd really prefer for people to play this game in the best state it can be anyway! https://twitter.com/BlockLegend/stat...296256/photo/1 Here's some of the changes that are coming up in the latest build that I'm going to try to push out ASAP on Sunday when I get back home. (Not listed here is orientation flipping support and a few other fixes as this was taken a couple hours ago): https://twitter.com/BlockLegend/stat...630209/photo/1 Negative feedback, positive feedback, I'm incredibly blown away people are even talking about our game at all. You guys are awesome. Please continue to let us know. I'm thinking about new features/balances/goodies to add in everyday. For the latest updates check out our twitter as that's the most updated (at least until we get news/blog functionality on our website). Thank You, Alvin Phu Dot Warrior Games
Just unlocked a character. Wow, I love that it totally changes the strategy. For example: Spoiler With the knight I was never clearing EXP while walking, now with the witch all I am doing is clearing EXP. Just read the twitter feed @blocklegend and so glad I spent the measly $2 to support this game.
Hey dev, does this work on iPod 4? Thanks. Also I are you people kidding me? Your freaking out because a dev isn't on a forum that was for his game that he didn't even start? Not everyone KNOWS about touch arcade, and he was posting on his twitter! I can see your mad, but you shouldn't be mad the dev isn't on a gamer app forum to answer to all of your concerns? this was rediculous.
This thread has grown to 16 pages in 2 days, that is incredibly unusual and a real sign of how much interest every one has in the game. I'm still absolutely loving it and as EP has mentioned, it's a very strong contender for GotY for me also. The absolute honesty of the devs is really refreshing as well. Being able to handle a few people flying off the handle isn't a skill they always have so I'm looking forward to any future offerings from the studio. There does seem to be a lot of confusion about the pace change so I think that could use some sin posting in the game. I wouldn't want it to change though, it's something unique for me and that's unusual in the gaming world.
The list of fixes mentions fixing the resolution on ipad mini, but doesn't mention fixing it for ipad air. But I'm hoping it's safe to assume that will be included. I use ipad air myself. The game looks great! Can't wait to try it.
