    new in-game controls - iphone 5

Is there way how to adjust in game controls back to the old style? I hate the new style.

Yeah, I preferred the old controls, too. These are alright, but I guess I had gotten used to the old UI. :/

I would like the old controls back - with the movement limited to lower-left of the screen. It's very hard to aim with the left hand and shoot with the right, without moving the character or getting in the way of the view.

Also - how about a blog that produces resources? It could be a way to "invest" in resources. In later levels, it's a pain with fewer and fewer resource sites, too.

    Great game, of course!

I like the new controls. What's wrong with new ones? I am using fixed controls, fyi
Briann: I aim with left hand when using heavy plasma without any problems

I got used to aiming just above the movement pad for best visibility; starting to the right a bit feels off to me.

Experience doubler or a bot: which would be better for 0.99?

About the controls: IMO, I feel that the game has some of the best FPS controls on IOS. Very responsive and smooth. It helps that the enemies are slow and that accurate shots like headshots aren't required.

Orbital strike is awesome. Never gets old seeing a Globlock go flying across the screen when the laser impacts

Once you can mod your plasma rifle and max it out, then that is all that is needed up to level 15 to 20. Concentrate on mining. I usually run two sets of three stacked drills... They need to be covereed in mesh from arounf level 10 and move them each level to the opposite side of the next attack wave... I don't really start building my base until I have over 1000 m...

The shooter gblocks are proving to be a pain by the way.. Now started a couple of new bases to work on counter strategies.

    Great game!

How are you able to put down 3 stacked drills down at once so early? They're expensive and when you first start, you have to upgrade the bunker to even use them. And then I don't have enough $$ to move the drills cause they get increasingly expensive

Ok, more detail... Yes the first couple of levels (maybe 5) you are using mine shafts, then upgrade base and go for the drills. The main point is not to waste gold and resources on defences early on. You also need to mod both shafts and drills with salvage mods so you can move them without losing gold.

I use the pet dog bot because he is cute! And mainly for collecting gold - now no need to run about the map for this. The other thing is to select your map with the final base in mind. It some times takes me up to 10 times to generate a map I like.

From memory I tend to have mined all the resource blocks by about level 40, so then move over to mine shafts on standard bedrock. Need to ensure they are in very protected areas. In the long run the mine shafts will mine more m per total cost vs. drills, but there will just be more of them.

So you can put shafts on regular bedrock and get M?

Yes. After minerals are exhausted simply put your shafts/drills in protected areas and they will generate minerals, albeit at slower rates.

Experiencing exactly the same thing... Now starting new maps as there are some fundamental design flaws in current bases due to new 'optimised' shooter gblocks...

At levels above 100 the lasers go through everything in its way... Big holes right through my massive bases. You can actually see right through... And they tend to take out high value turrets and mine shafts...

Tell me your secrets!! Levels above 100? Wow, I can barely survive level 14. Haven't reach a wave 20 yet and I've been playing for hours after the last week. I'm level 24, experience wise.

My best base is over level 400... Secrets... Hmm... A lot of it depends on the map and how to exploit it. But modding weapons and turrets is fairly critical. Have a plan for modding as you need to balance rare minerals etc. Salvage and self powered are good starters for turrets. ROF and power fir plasma rifle. Get air cover early meaning MIRV and even one orbital laser helps. My favourite turret, the one I tend to have the most of is the howitzer...

    Hope this helps

Everything You Need to Know About Mining

I was wondering about how the rules for mining work and so I ran some tests. Here are the results if you're interested:

First the interesting points, then the total breakdown of how it works:

When you stack drills, they actually mine faster that three separate drills would mine separately. So if you had three mineral deposits and could only afford three drills, it would be best to place all three drills on the same deposit as you'll drill an extra 24 minerals than if you drilled with 3 separate drills.

Once the mineral deposit runs out, it yields exactly the same minerals as a normal spot of land. Obviously, it yields a lot less, but you don't need to worry about where you place the drill/shaft.

    Now the details:

No mines of any type - You get bonus rare minerals still, but no M.

    Shafts:
    Shaft on a deposit - 20M

Shaft on normal ground - 4M

    Drills:
    1 Drill on a deposit - 28M (28M per drill)
    2 Drills on a deposit - 64M (32M per drill)
    3 Drills on a deposit - 108M (36M per drill)

1 Drill on normal ground - 5M (5M per drill)
2 drills on normal ground -12M (6M per drill)
3 drills on normal ground - 21M (7M per drill)

You're total mined will vary a bit if you get bonus mined rare minerals (unless you don't have a mine on the map, you still get the bonus mined at random times, but it only shows up in the overall game's count of rare minerals, not as part of your M in the game. I think that's a bug)

I have played a lot (and at almost lvl 300 I mean A LOT) and I have yet to see any bonus mined rare minerals when there are no resource nodes being mined. Once all the resource nodes are gone from the map you will only get the standard amount given per round.

Grind away at the first 5 waves over and over until you have enough rare minerals to craft self-powered mods for your mine shafts, mine drills, and plasma turrets. Next get get enough rare minerals to craft salvage on the same turrets. Then finally get enough to craft detectors on the plasma turrets.

Now once you have all that, on your first turn build 2 shafts on the opposite side of the map from where the enemy spawns. Then build 3 plasma turrets on top of your barracks and 2 at the base of tour barracks facing the enemy spawn side. Start the round and just collect the coins. Next wave move your shafts if you have to and build a 3rd shaft. Move your turrets to face the enemy of you have to and build 2 or 3 more at the base of your barracks. Again start the wave and collect coins.

Now by wave 3 you should have enough to upgrade your barracks and start building drills and more plasma turrets. From this point on you can start exploring how you want to build your base and exploit the terrain, but that's the basic rules for acquiring lots of $ and "m" in the first 20 waves.

Which brings me to the new start at later levels feature. Now I certainly figure the amount of $ and "m" you would start with would be a significant amount less than if you played from wave 1. However starting at wave 50 only gives you $2000 and 1600 "m". It just seems like a way lower amount to start with considering you can have that amount by 10 easily (and that's counting upgrading your barracks too).

My early game goes like this:

Round 1: upgrade base, drop a mining block, use upgraded pistol.

Round 2: reclaim mining block, put down drill, one block + modded 50 cal (power mod, detector mod + ROF, damage)

Next couple rounds, build up a 3xdrill stack.

Round 4 or 5, upgrade base to level 3, to max out cash inflow.

Following round, reclaim 50 cal. Stack 7 blocks vertically on top of base. 4x 50 cal on sides, second block up, 4x modded plasma 2 blocks above that, 4x 2 blocks above that. Plasma modded with reclaim, power, detector mods, as well as ROF. These will last until round 10, so I focus on grabbing coins and getting a second 3x stack of drills.

    Next, mid game:

Round 10, reclaim all guns, start a 5x5 scaffold on top of the block stack and start putting howitzers on the underside of the corners. Howitzers modded with ROF, AOF, detector mods. Also equip plasma rifle, detector and the health mod. Next few rounds, build another 5x5, get another 4 howitzers down.

    Late game:

At this point begin expanding a platform around base, getting a motion detector network in place, and get 10 orbital cannons on top of the topmost platform. OC modded with power, detector mods.

Few more rounds, start putting lasers on sides of platforms. Focus on grabbing last few deposits, then just adding more and more armaments as rounds progress. The MIRV's are awesome, but I hold off until I'm ready to obliterate all the soil on the map :). I also put down a perimeter wall from bedrock up once water starts getting close to the base :).

The early game weapons and blocks is the place to focus modding for new players. Get reclamation mods on the drills and mines so that you can shift for free to put your base between them and the enemies. Also get power mods on early weapons so that you don't need that 15 minerals. Upgrade your pistol with ROF and damage, and if you can get a 50 cal out with 5x ROF on the second round, it provides a nice little umbrella around your base.

This strategy has worked for me for a while. Current character level is 227, and all my bases are level 200+! Not everybody agrees with upgrading barracks so quickly, but the faster you upgrade, the more $ earned in early rounds, the faster you can place drills and deplete deposits! You really want to completely gather the further most outliers before waves start coming from 3+ directions if you can.

Did you look at cost per mine per m?
