Enhancements Great game. Btw! 1) I understand limited inventory during combat. During build though it is just annoying. Possible solutions are doubling or tripling the inventory row during build. Please place common blocks at start, instead of the crappy wooden ones. So Mesh and Tech for sure should not need scrolling. Sort by usage would work more generally. Another solution would be for long touch to bring up other items you have used in that slot. Like last 5 or something so you can quickly select them from the popup. 2) I want to second an earlier suggestion for a rebuild button. Some of the tunneling damage inside a base is difficult or impossible to repair because you cannot fly into a one block high tunnel. Inspecting a base is hard at night. 3) make it so that coins floating inside the water can be collected after round is over instead of just bobbing there taunting you. Probably just needs another one block pickup radius. 4) make the rain stop. My iPad is already burning up with this game. No need for the constant rain. The snow is nice though. 5) Max speed plasma rifle sounds lame. Is it firing less frequently because its own visual effects slow down the fps or is it just not sending sounds out consistently during low fps? When you use it at close range it really gums up fps. Maybe Apple just needs to release new hardware? 6) Heavy plasma is hard to use. It's too easy to get misaligned or accidentally fire. Maybe if it had its own button that shows up above the left move pad? I use it with plasma rifle so after switch you have to lift finger off the fire button but that changes target frequently so you have to re aim but without touching fire button, then fire. A better solution would be for it to just fire if you switch to it with fire button held down already. 7) Some jump slack would be nice. Running at edge of your high base requires mouse precision but you only have a tiny touch square so half the time you plummet. Or you need to move forward a bit to get a down angle and overshoot a quarter of the time. Either way you are suddenly plummeting and your monkey brain spews adrenaline into your body which is bad long term for your health. At least when I intend to jump I can close my eyes and avoid that.
How About a Higher Difficulty Level in Survival No Seriously. I know the game is hard enough as it is, but as you gain experience and mods, it becomes easier to just breeze past the first levels, if you could have an even more difficult setting, you would have to employ more strategy to the earlier levels than just trying to establish yourself and mine the outer areas on those first 10-15 levels. Also, what if there was a type of play where all Mods and experience points are nulled or set to a standard level and you just try to get to the highest level you can using this standard stuff? Kind of like the 100 mode of Desktop Tower Defense?
Would it be viable to have a quick double-tap anywhere act as a reload rather than the icon? Or perhaps an option to move the inventory boxes to one side...
A Hardcore mode I believe IS coming, just not in this next update. However, we've implemented a "skip ahead" feature, where you can choose to start a new game at any round that you've successfully completed, as long as its after round 20. You will get a set amount of resources to start the round with. Anyway, this should be a nice happy medium until the Hardcore mode hits, which will have its own leaderboards, etc. Did I mention the next update will also have bots? Actually we've re-arranged the UI a bit to be able to better access the inventory buttons on the fly (they are close to the shoot button now, so you should be able to press everything easily without stretching or being awkward on an iPad).
Block Fortress Wiki Hi guys, we have recently started a block fortress wiki, most of the basic information is complete, but we still need more contributions to help make the wiki a complete guide to the game. so please, help yourself and others by helping us Block Fortress Wiki http://blockfortress.wikia.com/wiki/Block_Fortress_Wiki
Like those pet bot things you posted pics of? SWEEEET. I assume you can upgrade them and stuff with minerals. Do you start with them or buy them as you progress in a game?
Crashes I have and iPod 4th gen, 8 gigs. The game constantly crashes while in quickstart mode-it's not even a challenge to see how long I can last, it's a challenge to see how little lagg I can cause. Fortunately, survival mode has only crashed a few times, despite much more intensive battles. And fixing the "all turrets fall" glitch would be nice. To see it, just make a 1x1 tower into the sky, and place turrets up the entire side. Destroy any turret and sometimes all the turrets will fall, wasting tons of resources/time.
It's appalling there is no tutorial in a complex game like this. I pretty much had no idea what I was supposed to do, and there were about a hundred things to do in level 1. Took me a while to even figure out how to pan the camera horizontally. Deleted the game after level 2 as it got extremely repetitive and had nowhere near "M" (whatever that stands for) to build anything, and it was basically just the guy walking around shooting stuff. No I didn't buy a game to read a wall of text in the "wiki" articles in-game, a terrible idea to attempt to get players to get a grasp of a handheld game through long and boring text walls. Pretty much all games nowadays have a "tutorial" level where they walk you through on what things you can and should do...
There are menus that tell you what to do sad to see someone give up on a game like this so easily. You learn as you play, that's the fun of it. Every level means adapting to new enemies and night time as well. The game is great.
Via Forsaken on Twitter : Block Fortress update - including bots, "start from your previous best round" option, and lots of other fixes - submitted and coming soon!
Thanks for the feedback! Though I'm not sure judging a game "extremely repetitive" after 4 minutes of game-play is very fair Out of curiosity, did you not see the "!" informational icons that pop-up to the left of the screen during your first play-through? They are labeled and explain in bite sized topics pretty much every facet of the game, step by step as you do things (they are actually only each 1-2 sentences each, so not that long). I understand if you chose to read the entire tutorial at once it would be quite daunting, for sure... but it is presented in a way so that you're just reading 1-2 sentence blurbs about the mechanics of the game as you continue to play and do things... really pretty standard. I know its not the most creative or interactive tutorial, but Block Fortress has SO much depth and info to go over, something simple like you'd find in many casual mobile titles just wasn't possible... ah well, thanks for giving the game a shot at least!
Full change-log below... can someone say JETPACK!? The bots also really change the feel of the game for the better too, imo... really neat to have your little buddy fighting beside you You can choose not to use them of course, if you prefer. v1.2 • added 7 different robot companions that you can bring into battle to help you survive! • added new equipment - a jump pack that allows you to soar over the battlefield! • added a mod that can be crafted to increase weapon accuracy • major memory optimizations should help with crashing on complex bases • fixed an iCloud syncing bug • you can now skip to later levels when starting a new game in survival mode once you’ve made it to at least level 20 • enemies do more damage and are even tougher on very high levels • adjusted the position of some of the in-game controls • you can now delete blocks in your barracks foundation in sandbox mode • weather now changes in sandbox mode when you stay on night or day • fixed a bug that would cause some teleporters in loaded games to not be linked correctly • fixed a bug where your barracks would sometimes appear in the corner of the map when loading your game • fixed some render bugs with some of the massive bases • fixed a bug that would cause blocks with scaling costs to be priced incorrectly sometimes when you load a game • fixed some ui issues in the upload/download window • fixed description of orbital lasers (which are capped at a max damage amount, not a max number shot) • tons more optimizations, crash fixes, and tweaks
Looks great! Thanks Foursaken Media! I'm still enjoying this game but I am really starting to notice lag problems now at wave 25. The main offender seems to be the MIRV. When 8 of those launch at once and break up into even more missiles, and then fall all around you, the game basically stops. I'm hoping the optimazation fixes in this update can address that, but I do wonder if it is just a limitation of the hardware (even though I'm on an iPad 4).
Jetpack! A jetpack! That was what i thougt the stimpack was until i got it. Now the manchete is the only awesome thing the goblocks have and we don't!
Haha, the very thought that ANY of the games these guys have put out would need a 'tutorial'. Are you kidding me? Seriously?
