    Update too easy!

While I commend Foursaken for their great games I must say that the addition of the Motion Sensor has made Block Fortress too easy! With proper use bases are now maintenance free and the game has gotten boring. Foursaken, I encourage your continued improvements but the game balance has gotten out of whack. I suggest you introduce new enemies that restore the balance and make each level a challenge to get through. With the Motion Sensors in place each level is simply a matter of waltzing around the landscape picking up as many gold pieces as I can without any concern about my barracks getting destroyed.

So any more tips on using Motion Sensors? I'm still experimenting with them, like I tried putting some around my barracks, with plasma turrets aiming at my barracks, but eventually the Shadows overwhelmed the motion sensors and destroyed them.

Are Flamer turrets worth it? And how are they against shadows?

I just put a square arrangement of motion sensors at a radius of about 15 squares away from my base with nothing else out there. When the Shadows approach my main base weapons (Howitzers and Lasers) just blast them away (at least up to Level 60). I lose 2-3 sensors per round but there are easily replaced.

Ah! Now I understand your previous post better. Motion sensors have made the first 100 waves or so much easier. But when you start hitting wave 120-150 shadow elites are extremely hard to contain (especially before the reload mod for the HPG and motion sensors). They are fine like they are I feel.

Do you cover the Motion Sensors with anything or just leave them exposed?

I just left them exposed although they do have HP and repair mods. I'm at Level 60. Perhaps at higher levels ill cover them with some blocks.

Doesn't seem right to have to play to Level 125 before it gets challenging.

    Perimeter Defense

Even when upgraded, motion sensors are vulnerable. They are also not cheap if you have to replace 3 per round, so it is important to properly cover them. Armored light blocks are a great defense and when upgraded are better than tech blocks. I mod them with self powered, salvage, HP x5, and repair x3. 200 HP and regens 3 HP per sec.

Now once you've detected all those shadows knocking on your barracks door you're going to want to stun and slow them en masse. I use a ring of Flamers, Electro Orbs, Vortex Guns, Heavy Plasma Turrets, and Freeze Guns to take them out before they can do much damage. Here's my current set up on the new Plains map at wave 99.

So don't use them, nothing is forcing you to. If you want to challenge yourself up to level 125 then don't build any motion sensors or orbital lasers until then. I just think they should be available if needed to players of any skill level.

Shadows prioritize lights, so I would surround the motions with lights. I submerge both flat into the base floor so it's easy to mow them down with plasma fire. If the lights are on the inside they still protect the sensors and likely your turrets kill the shadows before u lose anything.

I used to cover the entire base with motions but now just the outer edge. I still plaster lights everywhere though so they can soak up shadow time till I get to them.

My current base design is as follows
    1) plasma only till 8 of them on top of base covered eventually in single layer of tech block.
    2) get to plasma rifle and base 2 ASAP
    3) four pillars of tech metal one square space away from base corners. Build these up to max height minus four.
    4) lasers one square down from top of pillars. Eight to start, eventually sixteen.
    5) now make a platform using mesh at the top. Sandwich a power block (already built for the lasers) with boosters on level one. Then another mesh layer with orbital lasers on top of that.
    6) up a block and out a block from the lasers make a tech metal square. Populate with heavy plasmas and howitzers. 8+ heavy plasma and 12+ howitzers.
    7) Now finish the base using mesh lights detectors and armor plating.
    8) keep mining empty resources since u still get about 6 mins per round from them.

Crafting needed is basically detection first so u can shoot at night.
I put some slow on th lasers. Everything else is damage and armor pen if needed and aoe.

How this works: most things get killed at range. Even shadows if grouped with other goblocks. The giant patch of lights mesh armor and detectors are the only things u lose each round but you can replace with money to spare.

Starting from scratch it takes time to get all the upgrades but simply having your precious artillery above the jumpers will add many rounds before death. Right now I like to farm levels 15 till 40 or 50. You get about 4 specials per round by maxing drills only, no shafts after base level 2.

Hope this answers your detector questions.

    Mining strats

There is the rare consideration too though. Shaft is 10% and drill is 20% chance. So it really pays to only use drills after you upgrade to level two base. Later when you have dry wells you can mix in shafts as described to take up the slack while you save for drills. Of course, if you are maxed on upgrades this doesn't matter.

Drills and Shafts only produce bonus rare minerals when on a resource node. When the node is depleted it will still continue to produce "m" but there are no further bonus minerals. Since the cost of drills increases more than the cost of shafts you can mine more "m" with shafts than drills at later levels because you need less money to buy them. $5000 worth of shafts will produce more than $5000 worth of drills because there are more of them. Rare Minerals are not even a consideration at this level because all your resource nodes are gone by this time. Also you are incorrect on your numbers, shafts have a 5% chance and drills have a 10% chance of getting a bonus mineral.

    Accuracy mod

Dear foursaken media. I would like if you added an accuracy mod as adding a range mod on weapons like the pistol, machine gun and minigun is pretty much useless. If not could you please make so the range mod would increase a weapons accuracy so it is on par with the range.

    damage mod.

This suggestion might be stupid on high damage weapons like the heavy plasma or minigun, but I would like some system that made so after a set amount of damage mods, the mod starts to calculate the damage buff from the modded pistol at that point and not the stock gun.

personaly I have a pistol with 16x damage mods (It looks cool), and it is an absolute grind. One of the things i liked about this game was the fantastic and endless weapon customization. I can in theori make the not so good pistol to a full auto powerhouse, with a littlebit of grinding. When one have to upgrade a weapon 150 times to get to 100 damage though...

Ps. make less limitations when it comes to mods. I would like an autoshotty and a fast firing sniper rifle. just remove some animations when its modded, like the pistols recoil animation.

Yeah, the possibilities of the weapons are so endless, I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface, since I really only use the Plasma Rifle.

Which other weapons (and what mods) are great, too?

With the level sharing, can I play this game as a straight FPS by just downloading random creations and not bothering with the Minecraft mode?

I think I'm more interested in seeing people's creations than actually doing the creating.

  19. I agree... I think some kind of "end-game" should be available for players in sandbox.... a certain "teleporter" or something you step on and "TADA" you win or something..

I hope that CONQUERING fortresses is somewhere in the realm of Foursaken's discussion of future content. It would be one more addition to the epicness of this game :)
