Just managed to get the level 100 achivement, Started another map to get back on the green hills survival and it's already just rock that remains Took what I learned from the mountain map and applied it here it feels like a big block massacre collecting EXP and such, great fun!
I totally agree with this. The Shadows are a really dumb game mechanic, and I honestly feel they don't belong in the game. If they're completely impervious to all defences, then as a player you just think, so....... Why have I spent the last 20 rounds building amazing defences? Have I just been wasting my time?
Well without shadows, the game actually starts becoming easy. Then the game starts to get kind of slow paced since you will have an amazing base that repels everything. I hate shadows too believe me, I kill them with a passion.
That is part of the game that they envisioned. They wanted a tower defense game with a FPS aspect and total freedom in building your base. I believe they mentioned that they want to create new game modes as well, such as a "tower only" mode.
I love the sandbox mode of the game, I have the pocket minecraft app and I find that it is easier to build in block fortress than in pocket minecraft(there is no range on where you can put blocks). In addition, the turrets and weapons make the game better than pocket minecraft. What i think would make sandbox mode better are windows, easier color picking for paint blocks, and a bigger map. I know you guys are adding terrain blocks in sandbox mode but can you guys also add "decoration" blocks such as wood, water, stone, bricks, paintings, etc as well? These blocks can be treated as terrain blocks(not targetted by goblocks) so it is possible for a person to make a bridge or road goblocks can walk on without them stopping to attack the blocks. An idea for a game mode could be an adventure mode where the map is larger and monsters come at you slowly but continuously. There can also be an economic aspect of the game with mineral mines and gold mines. I like survival mode but i find that i have to use the same formula(building a tower of turrets) for building my base for each map because some builds are more effective in advancing through survival mode than others. I can see how survival mode is good for a challenge but an adventure mode would appeal to players who want to relax and play the game their own style such as building a true fortress(large building with rooms, walls. and towers), or a battleground, or even a boat rather than being forced to build tower of turrets to progress in the game. I know that you guys recently released a patch that would give players and easier alternative to the normal survival mode but I think most people who complain about the difficulty of the game like the concept of the game(turrets and monsters) but want to play the game without the stress of wraiths or large waves of monsters attacking their base. Don't get me wrong, I love a challenge much like the last guy but when i'm tired I would much prefer to build a base through sandbox mode. However, I still want to enjoy the survival aspect of the game as well. An adventure mode would allow me to "work" for the resources to build a base in my own vision while still providing me the survival aspect of the game in a less stressful manner. I also have a few questions about the multiplayer. What plans do you guys have for it? Are you guys planning to input co-op where multiple players try to survive as long as possible after building a base(similar to quickstart) or do you guys plan to make it a base vs base pvp? Personally, I think a multiplayer arena with multiple modes (capture the flag, deathmatch, team deathmatch, etc) where players can use guns and turrets to fight against other players.
Not here to complain but I can't play this game even with all the tips and strategies that everyone has been so kind to share. Block fortress is way out of my league and I just can't grasp it. I purchased some IAP thinking it would make things easier but it didn't. I have no regrets except that I'm not smart enough to play. Great game forsaken but I'm gonna have to stick with H&C and the standard TD games
Great to hear that terrain block building is being added, and the flatter map option will be useful too. I'm really having fun in sandbox mode. Here's an update to my Metal Gear Solid map. Just a bit more construction to do on the base then I'll start placing the turrets.
God those ninjas are the bane of every base I build. I could never go too far away from my base, because these guys show up randomly. I wish there was an upgrade mod just for shooting down these shadow assassins.
I think a mod 5/5 or 6/6max that allows your turrents a % chance to shoot shadows would work because to get for example 33% chance for your turrents to shoot shadows you would have to use up 5-6 mods making your turrents weaker. I think that would be a pretty balanced way to give options.
Part of the problem is you have to envision the meta game that's here in addition to any particular game. For example, when I started playing, I had to bitterly defend my mining outposts... then eventually I upgraded mine shafts with the self-power and salvage mod. Poof, I could move my mine shafts around between every round to place them where they would be safest during the next attack. Then yesterday I finally got the self-power and salvage mod on mining drills, now I can clear a resource node in just a few rounds as well as moving the drills as needed. What I am doing is maintaining one survival game on each of the three colored maps at any given time. If I fall, I fall and start over on the alternate map for the mineral color, but I am able to choose the next mod upgrade, work toward it, and than all three games get the boost since crafting is outside of any particular game. It keeps things interesting, ever changing, and progressing. As for farms, I put down 3-4 farms right next to my HQ. Always know where they're at, and the only way they get destroyed is if they've breached my defenses.
I updated the guide as promised in the last few days, in the general thread section of this forum. It's at the bottom of the second post there. The newest inclusion is talking about KEY turrets which play a large part in getting games to that 60+ wave mark, based on my own experiences of hunting that achievement! What do you think of it so far? The only problem is that I have now ran out of space allowance in both the first and second post to put anything new in there, so it may be shuffled around over the next few days as there isn't any space to give pic examples. May have to move some of the tips out further into the post, not sure yet! Hope it helps those here that are struggling to get further into their games! Still loads more to add though...
This base is freaking awesome. I can't wait to have people playing deathmatch games in places like this...
Ok I just experienced what you told me there. I'm a bit late to the AFK mining party (didn't know what AFK meant lol, thks google and wiki ) Having played a lot more, I also played better. I built a Rocky mountains perfect map on round 6, with no blocks lost and no need to play at all in FPS mode, just 4 lasers doing the work as you said. So I guess, all I have to do now is to reload it, launch it, rack in the rare white minerals and XP, quit, rinse&repeat?? I guess I can try to achieve that for the other maps as well. Seems a bit like taking advantage of a glitch ain't it?
Stim PAck item with move speed and life regeneration is way better than a farm is. Its free HP and move speed is so key no matter what you are doing. Stim Pack and Spotter items are a must IMO.
