Bravo! I just figured out how the drills keep generating even after all the normal deposites have dried up. I gotta redo some of my maps to take advantage of this knowledge. Im up to level 40, but kinda slowed down last couple days cuz a little burnt out. I firmly believe that heavy plazma is the best weapon in the game. Though I'll admit I havent spent much time with the other weapons. I've levelled mine up to have 1k dmg, and its just rediculous. How can u have mortars on your map? That shocked me right there. Wellp, looks like I'll have to catch up. Good stuff!
Mortars have modifications to slow mobs down, its one of those turrets that doesn't do much damage but if you need to cover a particular area of the map or choke point... Placing these down means that other guns may have more time to shoot and add more damage. I'd consider them to be a specialist weapon, using them like the freeze guns more than ranged DPS.
So for higher waves we should orient more to specialist guns for slowing down those mobs, not just spawn dps turrets.Anyway, looking forward to your update in hints and tips thread
In some places yes. This base was actually at the corner of the map and that meant there was a clear danger of mobs that spawn close by to hop over the mountain and start hammering defences within seconds. Once I started to slow them down with mortars the corner map was (or is I should say) the least of the problems. Will probably update that later tonight or tomorrow. The cryo gun helps with that sort of thing too. That is perhaps the easiest personal weapon to overlook but increased aoe radius can make it strong against mobs while rockets, mortars, and satellites rain fire. In a flat map pure dps could still be viable but rocky mountains has more strategical options, in some ways it's more difficult for initial planning, but after the initial consolidation period the terrain can be a big advantage using utility guns.
im lvl 65 and in 40's on survival, have my Heavy Plasma Rifle at +19x damage and 1x ignore armor so it does 1700 to 2000+ damage Anyhow any tips to mine M without mines left?
Yep! Once you exhausted all your mines and minerals, delete and move them into the safety of the middle of your base then place them where you feel like it because it won't matter at that point. They will trickle in tiny ammounts of M resources but it still means you can buy powerful guns every couple of levels. At that stage you can put them in a block of reinforced squares and forget about them while they work. As far as I know theres nothing much else you can do. Hope it helps
65...91? Damn guys. Nice. My highest is like 25? I need to play some serious catch up. Also, I second the jump pack. That'd be sick.
im hero level 67 he is hero lvl 91, i'm in campaign wave 40ish hes in 50s i think. Just fyi JUMP PACKS FTW /drool
So there are ONLY 3 rare minerals at stage 59? Foursaken, please increase the limit Also anyone knows rare minerals cap on quickstart? Who has got the most?
Official congrats to Dreathor from Forsaken on Twitter "We weren't even sure it was possible" reaching lvl 60 lol Congrats dude. Looking forward on the tips thread How do you guys have so many crafting done already? My best is level 11 on snowy hills and I have perhaps 40 rare minerals in total Maybe I should give Forsaken some of my money to craft some things, could make my life easier
i spent some $63 in app purchases for Block Fortress (3x $20) and the double exp and $2 for minerals once too. I don't mind if its to support my new favorite ios developer Keep up the good work Foursaken
sweet, didn't know about this I have a system to farm minerals, it's somewhere in the general guide thread. You can set up level 5-6 to be completable entierly AFK. Which means of course, that if your'e making a coffee or doing work you can collect rare minerals for upgrades. 3-4 lasers with no upgrades positioned well and a few mines around the map will set this up perfectly for you. You can give them money for extra crafting things (the more you play this the more you realise a couple of pounds or dollars initial price is nothing compared to what this game is worth!) but if you do that I suggest working out what you need before you buy and spend any. For example salvage mods on mines means that you can keep more money in early levels, pure damage mods on lasers can help but then again, so can modding weaker weapons because those have special effects. They totally deserve the money but you should be sure on what you are going to spend the minerals on first. It is easy to see how they could be wasted because the options are so great. The greatest recommendation I can give you if you do buy any, is first make sure your defences can operate in the dark and without power. Not having to build power stations and/or lights is a MASSIVE game changer.
To slow down enemies, I build a bunch of $1 blocks in concentric circles around the whole map. Its EXTREMELY effective. I only lose to shadow creatures that for some reason I dont notice till its too late. Mortor idea is interesting though. Im checking to see if MIRVs can have slow on them. I much prefer them to mortars. EDIT: No slow on mirv In retrospect though, would it be better to use lasers for the slow affect? range is really far, gonna get a lot of bang for the slow buck, whereas mortors start with only 18 range.
I'd say it depends almost entirely on the map, play-style and barracks location. In mountains if your barracks is surrounded on three sides or something similar mortars mean that you can have less guns exposed to enemy fire, so on a good mountain map the slow on those is probably better. However, on a flat map where mountains are almost a non-consideration, unless you make some fancy walling system slow would likely be better on other guns like the lasers because your turrets are mostly all going to be exposed any way. That's not saying a fancy walling system shouldn't be used because thats a great thing to do also. For my mountain map I only have mortars for a very specific job but they do that extremely well, mainly because they are protecting the blind side of my mountain from mobs that climb. That means that if my infi-range guns like satellites (and MIRV in most respects) are busy shooting half way across the map then the mortars will buy enough time for them to destroy said climbers (or disrupt goblocks from trying to get cheap shots on my base).
Suggestion: Allow small one handed weapons like pistol, plasma pistol to take up half of one slot so its possible to be dual wielded! Id love to use hammer+pistol or plasma pistol lol How about a new weapon that pushes enemies? A force gun would be great New blocks like Lava that damage mobs that walk through them New blocks that make your turrents shoot them perpetually if no enemies around so you could set it over your base and protect it from the invisible enemies. Wish the map would allow you to build higher up and was a wider and deeper map. What about finding new mines as you destroy terrain? Would reward exploration. As always Jump Packs, /drool
thks for the advices mate. Quick question: do the crafing you do (say full refund or no power) work on the saves you had before crafting? Can I reload an old save and use them? For the moment, I'll try to grind, the difficulty is going up anyway, so I'd better learn the hard way than fast forward to a new cliff
What do you guys find is the best value for the money turret? Any good number cruncher math wiz persons out there? In my view the regular Plasma one is very decent for its cost. Not based on any math
Random thoughts from a player who is lame at the FPS genre: Some things which might make this aspect of the game a bit more enjoyable for some of us might be: 1. third person view, or ability to zoom out; 2. a larger firing button on screen (at least for iPhone); 3. adjustable positioning of fire button (where you place your finger); 4. auto-resume firing after reload so finger doesn't have to come off fire button to start firing again and finding the fire button; or maybe, a personal favourite option: 5. instead of FPS, make it a dual-stick shooter style of personal combat (ala Minigore, etc) as that would incorporate several changes from the wishlist all at once.
