I made it to lvl 25 with mostly plasma as they are a really good Value for the money, 10-12 orbitals and 4 Howitzer I sit on my top platform with modded Plasma rifle and Stun Gun modded for range and aoe. Freeze/stun then blow up any dangerous enemies with Plasma rifle. I notice my corners were getting hit so i built short walls around base and tall distraction towers on corners. Works well! I built base at center of map, i find it easier this way.
Every turret. 7 of each mineral. Also, every turret can be modded to not need energy. 10 blue, 10 green, 20 white. The differences are for other attributes. Some turrets can have the rate of fire increased, whereas some others cant. Couple other differences, cant remember them though.
What mods should I use on plasma rifle, besides energy core? Should I go for damage or blast radius or rate of fire?
Found this game solely because of H&C which I am thoroughly addicted to, lol. I guess that means H&C is a "gateway drug, er, game." So then, I guess... Block Fortress is what ...?... The cocaine of video games? The heroin of iOS? LOL. Either way, glad to see you guys roll another good one out - though I have no idea how. Do any of you sleep - ever? Main point of my post was to chip in with an ENTHUSIASTIC YES!!!! to your question about a non-FPS mode. I get why it's appealing as it is currently, but frankly I get all the FPS itch-scratching I need out of heroes and castles. The reason I like TD games best is the challenge of trying to set up a system that has to operate by itself during the crisis. Can I do it? How do I tweak it to be better? How will the system respond to unanticipated events/attacks/strength/complexity/etc? If it responds well to the unexpected at all, how long can it go? Heck, I prefer the very few TD games that DON'T let you do anything during a wave, which sounds like what your "TD-only Mode" would also require. Hmm.. i think I just figured out why i like the genetic programming and autonomous agent fields so much! Kind if similar! lol. Anyway, as you said, what's great about Block Fortress is that you can include many - potentially radically different - game modes without breaking stuff. You can really satisfy many different gaming desires with the same game. Pretty cool! Since I am posting, I have one very minor question/constructive criticism: for those weapons, equipment, and specials that you can't access because of level (player or barracks) restrictions, it would be nice to still be able to use the "?" button to get the same description and details (price/minerals/damage, if applicable/etc.) you normally can get. Right now all you get is the message telling you that you are only some pathetically low-level n00b and have to be Level=God to unlock the MegaDeathRat or whatever ;-). Okay, it's not that bad, and I assume I could go to sandbox to get them before I reach the req. level, so not a big deal. Would just be nice to be able to read it when in a regular game. Very minor and seriously loving the game so far. Just FYI, I also had a "3 enemies left" at the end of a wave, with no actual enemies; only happened one time so far. For me, when I finally gave up looking and quit, I saved it anyway, and when I loaded it back up, it appeared to reset to the beginning of the same wave (as if it had not run that wave yet at all) and that time it finished fine. HTH. Cheers, Scott
damage is good because it already has high rate of fire. one aoe mod is good too since monsters like to clump.
I'm not sure if this is intentional by the devs or if its fixable but if you start a round and get gold coins from the goblocks, save the game before you beat the round, then reload it, you return to the build phase of the round with the additional gold(i.e. start attack phase with 0g, get 50g, save, reload, round starts with 50g instead of initial 0g).
Man I finally have a good strategy worked out only losing less than 20 or so blocks per this round now :3 I have a mesh wall, and some lasers and Plasma Rifles as well, I... Well so far so good for me this game is awesome. At early levels, I built a tech 2 base with block armor. It's pretty hard to break through along with the mesh wall.
Crash report I was in sandbox mode, random map - snowy with hills. I built 600 lasers and energy to cover them (one energy mod) and they started blinking (plasmas are ALWAYS green, aren't they? Mine were once green once dark - depends on angle of view). Then I launched hard attack and were in spectator mode. After 15 seconds game crashed. I did not save my map. Also I was using paint blocks (painted only one, rest default) iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.2
STIM PACK! Who here thinks you walk too slow in this game? Never fear, stim pack is here! Just modded m y stim pack with 5! speed up mods Each mod speeds you up by 50% I walk VERY FAST NOW, WOOOOO!
Ah, I was wondering if there's any way of walking faster. I just need to level up one more point to access the stim pack. (level 23)
Keep getting bad slowdown and crashing once i get into higher waves, I have a game currently at wave 23 and it crashed 7 times in a row midway through the wave before i gave up, my device can't handle all the enemies and explosions.
Just purchased the $5 IAP and I'm afraid to use the minerals for upgrades. I'm only afraid because of all my guns getting destroyed. I'm under the impression that if I don't do everything just right them all those minerals will go to waste and ill be back at square 1 again. Am I correct ?
I got one question, what does it mean to "upgrade my barracks to level 2" I want to place other defenses apart from plasmas and mortars. Anyone help me?
I noticed this as well but why wouldn't it be more or less intended? You did go out there and shoot those invaders and collected those coins. You character is persistent and outside of the save games themselves. You can also save the game, go and start 10 other survival games, level up a bunch, upgrade your weapons, tech blocks, turrets and then return to that original save ready to kick a lot more butt than before. Somewhere earlier in this thread one of the Foursaken crew said they'd intended saves to be very flexible so people could experiment, this seems to fit in with that statement.
Any upgrades made to your weapons and equipment using minerals is permanent throughout the game, it doesn't just apply to the game you are currently playing. So the modifications you make won't go to waste if you need to start a new game.
