What do you do for placement? I throw a big pole up, make a cross in the sky and go crazy with those guns. They really are strong even with only a couple of upgrades!
Here how a game of block fortress goes for me: I place my barracks and then some machine guns and power blocks and start the wave, I manage to pretty much kill all enemies by myself. The second round kills all my blocks leaving me my barracks only. The third round kills me about a min. In. Do my barracks level up by itself ? and is there a way to tell what condition it's in during battle? I'm real confused with this game. I bought the xp doubler hoping it would help later but with so many options its quite overwhelming. I'm a huge TD fan but not particularly great at them but this game is in a league of its own and very different from the TD games I'm used to.
Here's what I've been trying out mostly. It's been working pretty well and I'll probably keep adding more and go higher with the tower. I keep food in between the wall and barracks.
Should I stop using Machine Guns entirely? What are the best turrets to start off the first wave with? Plasma towers?
I plan on spending a little $ in this game but don't want to until I understand what I'm doing. I have so many ? And the guide doesn't help me enough
Basically once I got the shotgun and plasma it started getting easy to get 10 waves+. Then Lasers make it even easier. Use block armor on your base walls like in my picture above. It really takes a beating and only cost 2$ each. Which is nothing. I crafted the self powering mod onto my mines so I don't need random power stations around the map. It helps get you the extra m you need for the plasma/laser
AHHHH THIS GAME IS AWESOME!! Just made it to wave 13 or so, and I know, not a big achievement to you pros, but pretty exciting for me!
Coun't me as a fan of this game. Not a fan of IAP at all but there seems to be good balance in this game. I'm trying to get by without it, but I might have to eventually splurge in this case if I want to progress. We'll see
Well, as you start to get better, you yeah. I'd suggest upgrading plasma so it can go without power blocks. You save a crap ton of minerals and such. It's wave 14, I'm loving and hating my upgraded PR. It makes craters which destroys trees that have my turrets on them. I barely made it past round 14. Although if PR is my absolute fav because I gave it a mod so it has no reload probably going to lose, but we'll see. The map I'm in is surrounded by cliffs and canyons which is both good and bad.
I don't think you'll need to if your up for grinding. The rare minerals come pretty quick once you get past round 10 or so. Iap seems more for lazy/people who want to support.
Or for people who want to progress faster without using up so much time. Like me But the minerals go away quick.
I start with lasers but quickly build mirv, howitzers, orbital lasers, and the final plasma turret. First five levels are all about building drills, and protecting them by running around with the plasma rifle. This gives me a chance to build resources and go straight to the heavy hitters. All my turrets are midded so they dont need energy and can fire in the dark. Totally bought $2 of iap to start with, plus the cp doubler. Wanted to progress really fast cuz i dont have a lot of time, and i didnt buy iap for heroes and castles and i really wanted to support these guys. The end game is amazing and hectic! Also, the plasma rifle kills all tiles except rock. Use this to your advantage to make the whole map flat and increase line of site for your turrets. I kill trees, everything that gets in my way! Oh, last thing. Try and build 10 orbital laserz asap. Absolute mad damage anywhere on the map! Extra last thing: use the early rounds to mine minerals near the edge of the map. Much easier to protect and u get the closer minerals near your base when the enemies become more difficult. Someone else on this thread recommended this, and i cant stress how important it is to get to later levels.
I'm getting it now, discovered I could get different rare minerals on select levels, so cool, no IAP needed me thinks, maybe I'll go for exp doubler for kicks.
