I just made it 15 waves , seriously the more I play this the better it gets. Only thing so far that I don't like is the shadows, why the hell can't your turrets target them? That sucks! Other than them the game is amazing. All I had is upgraded plasma turrets so they can see in the dark and have 10% extra range. And basic 50cal and a couple of basic lasers. All build in the trees just so they were off the ground.
Seeing the "Hoth" base gets me pumped to see what the community comes up with after getting some more time with the game. Their really will be some fantastic ideas to play around with....as well as plenty to admire. The ability to upload/download and edit other people's creations is AWESOME and will give this game some serious longevity.....as would multiplayer and co-op!
There should be an online map sharing interface so users can upload cool towers/maps they've made for others to play with.
Turret, with a couple of range upgrades you can turn it into a static sniper gun. Quite useful with early upgrades...
Depends really, for long survival games I'd almost always go in the middle to get maximum Sight and allow you ample time post wave 20 to find the shadow goblocks, otherwise if your base is at a corner they could hop over and be inside in seconds. I'd be tempted to move base into the corner map and be more creative if shadow goblocks could be damaged by a particular type of close range turret, otherwise the risk becomes great, then I suppose you could make a high wall to cover that downfall but then the regular mobs wouldnt have anything shooting at them and you would lose the wall and corner shadow protection any way, it's quite a dilemma. Unless of course you are on maps where you can use proper cliffs to your advantage in a particular area, so the mobs have to take extra time climbing down and back up again. Cliffs on three sides of the barracks could be ideal in the proper situation, but I have yet to find that perfect cliff that makes me move away from dead center map. Of course I am coming from long range perspective, if you do put a base in a corner then I guess you could take full advantage of close range weapons like flamethrowers to toast mobs early as they appear before they become a big threat. Another reason for going in the middle is that by the time you start having long games, the terrain gets demolished eventually. For a quick match id say it really depends on the terrain more so than survival but it really depends... If you want the one hour achivement on that you need to have simillar tactical awareness like in survival. @forsaken: there is a typo in the hints and tips menu within the game, under gameplay/resource types it says there are two resource types, but at the top right corner of the screen it clearly shows three... Or am I missing something? Is it actually talking about money/minerals and not the three types of blue, yellow, green minerals. Idk it's not that important really, but I just noticed it.
How do you change the color of the paintable blocks? And why are they so cheap for their health? It's 1 mineral but has 200 health, whereas wood and stuff are only 100 health and cost the same?
Controller Support for iPad Retina? I absolutely adore this game; the concept at least. I have a couple questions. 1. Does Block Fortress have controller support? I do not have a controller for the iPad, and swore that I would never play a game with one, but I would definitely consider getting one just for Block Fortress. The touchscreen FPS controls have made the gameplay virtually joyless (for me). Perhaps Fours4ken Media could tie in with an iPad peripheral company and provide support. I would shell out $30-40 for this. 2. Are changes in the field of view being considered? The view for me feels very constricted. And is there a zoom-out function when in god-/build-mode? Anyway, I think Block Fortress is one of the funnest concepts to be offered in gaming - touch or otherwise - at the moment. Usually, if I have complaints about a game, I just quit and move on to something else. But I really want to enjoy Block Fortress. Thanks to anyone who can provide answers to my questions. Does anyone else crave controller support?
Devs, I'm finding it hard to move, aim, and fire at the same time. The claw is even less comfortable on a phone than on a controller. I heartily suggest two solutions. Either could be optional and toggled in the Options menu. 1) Auto-fire: If I've lined up the shot (red reticle), just take it for me. I haven't played long enough to get powerful weapons where I may want to be more strategic with my rate of fire, but with the pistols I'd be glad to just have it fire for me. 2) Don't let the mobs attack me. If I don't need to run away from them, that certainly lowers the risk, drama, and difficulty significantly... but then I'd feel safe aiming and firing without moving constantly. I really think (1) would make the game more fun and playable. The game would get a little easier, but the deep strategy element would remain unchanged. I want difficulty to come from making strategic decisions rather than from cramping my hand. I'm beating a dead horse by now, but if I wanted my difficulty to come from wrestling with an input device, I'd play Rock Band instead.
I'm looking at it right now, it's 1m only. Does it cost a $1 to paint it? Nvm figured out how to paint, just click on it with the pointer and it brings up the color palette. I still think the 1m price point is too low.
