Monocle, I completely respect your opinion, but, what you just described is a "Defend Your Base" game, which is what I think BF is atm. You have a base/tower to defend and baddies keep on coming to break it. Again, you have the freedom to express your opinion, but I have to strongly disagree. Pretty much 100% of all acknowledged/recognized TD games have pathing programmed into the monsters. That is the genre's core characteristic.
Here's my newest base, Would appreciate any good comments of improvement on how to push this base to last for a long time. (no problems so far, have had to fiddle a little bit with the ground sides but its working at the moment. Or any questions if you like. I call it the battle box! This is all about maximising firing arcs, at the same time as maintaining line of sight on all or most of the guns. Tech blocks are used to future proof it in later waves, up until now I have been building with wood but if you do that and try to replace it further down the line you can kiss your base goodbye in a long game. The roof is made of wood though, so replacing or expanding when it comes to hitting wave 60 is going to be cheap in theory. All the outer edge map mines are exhausted now, so defending those left in the middle against attacks coming from four directions is pretty simple. There is no hiding guns behind a wall wasting money at the same time because they cant aim to shoot going on. With exception to flame throwers, those are there to protect the barracks in an emergency. My actual character is level 44 now (with no exp doubler or IAP still!) so getting most guns is easy, though the heavy plasma is still locked at the moment. My goal with this base is to get the wave 60 achivement, if possible but if not then meh no problem il improve yet again Isometric view Top down view Hidden power source under nuke Internal area Outside ground view
What I want to know is how you acquired enough BU to make all that while still have 222 remaining? Does being a high level give you more? Or does making it deeper into the game grant you more due to increased difficulty? And, if I'm reading it correctly, does it say that monsters are coming from all directions?
Haven't noticed, monsters come from all directions on every single wave now Well, to answer your question on how to afford it. It's simpler than you first realise, if you make it so that things don't cost power such as lasers and mines, that saves you 15m here and there which adds up significantly later on. I still have roughly 500 m left to mine.
Any beginner tips in this thread anywhere? By the end of the second round my base was smashed to pieces and I had no minerals left to fix it. Am I supposed to be dumping mines on the mineral blocks as soon as possible? But then I feel like Ill have nothing left to build a base with...
#4 on the paid app charts. Holy crap guys, congratulations. I sincerely hope you guys make some huge amount of money off this game. You deserve it... Definitely solidified your status as my favorite iOS developer after H&C and this.
Il see what I can do! Might be a page or two before something pops up, but il take my time and do something detailed, so it's not just a simple post. Will message you what ever page number it lands up on. I put a few random tips some pages back but will correlate those and pop them in with some new ideas.
You should start Block fortress help thread and copy-paste most of your posts from this thread , they have all been very helpfull to many people here.
Nice AT-AT construction. Base looks cool. Are you going to attempt an AT--ST and the shield generator? Very impressive though. I love it.
Thank you very much for that idea. Especially for the comments too it's nice to be of some help. Love the ATAT base some one posted here, I'm a sucker for HOTH! Here it is! http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2715698#post2715698 (I'm assuming it's ok to post links? because it's still on touch arcade and is about the same game)
Some of these fortresses are a work of art! I particularly like the Empire strikes back ones. If FM continues to do work hard with the updates, and stay humble ( Don't let success get to your head, ie, EA) you guys will make a ton of cash.
