I think you're game is messed up. Or mine is... It stays day for me no matter what until I get to wave 5. Then it goes night for that wave and then goes back to day after its over.

I wonder if the day/night sequences have anything to do with which map area you are playing...

Foursaken is on a roll... NY zombies 2, Heroes and Castles, and Block Fortress ( All on my homescreen)

Their games are just awesome, I would put Heroes and Castles as a candidate for game of the year ( it's that good)

Guys, any advice for a beginner at Minecraft and Block Fortress specifically. I've never really got into Minecraft type games but this one looks like a good hybrid. I'm looking to be pleasantly surprised.:D

    Mmmmm... Foursaken TD... Ahahmahnn...

Foursaken is quickly becoming my first "instabuy" develeper. Now make Bug Heroes 2 with Co-Op multiplayer and take my giftcard money!

I still don't understand the rare minerals, could someone explain it to this layman?

I really wish there was a quick undo button on the build screen. I find myself deleting turrets by mistake and sometimes I have to go back to equip the turret that I deleted. A simple undo button could solve this rather quickly

    is this a possibility?

also, is there a way to get a world overview look during the waves, or is first person only way?

Unfortunately, my issues with the controls detailed in this post occurs when I use the shoot button as the stick (which is the generally the only way I aim and turn in combat), as well as non-aggressive turning and looking.

Learning to compensate and account for this has not taken me long, and I can enjoy the game thoroughly in spite of it (indeed, the controls could probably have been 10x less agreeable, and I would have still had more fun with Block Fortress than most other iOS titles :) ). But the combat phases would be even more spectacular if the fps portion of the game had the same control and movement precision and smoothness of N.Y. Zombies 2 or the MC/N.O.V.A. series.

In terms of strategic depth and variety, I don't think Heroes & Castles is even in the same century as Block Fortress (but since games don't necessarily grow more advanced with the passing of the ages, this means that H&C is probably in the early 2000s, while Block Fortress belongs in the exploratory 90s, when game devs races each other to the horizon in making their titles as sophisticated and intricate as technology and human imagination would allow :) ).

But yeah, "good" doesn't need to have anything to do with sophistication or depth :) Block Fortress is more to my liking, above-mentioned analysis notwithstanding, but I still think Heroes & Castles is one of the greatest games of 2013 plus a good portion of 2012 (since 2013 hasn't really offered much to make a mobile innovation super-powerhouse like Foursaken even take notice of the competition ;) ).

Specific combinations of minerals are used to craft mods for your equipment and turret/special blocks. Tap on the craft menu to see what's all availible.

So far I've crafted a chance to stun with my shotgun; armor piercing with my machine gun and my machine gun turrets don't have to be on a power grid anymore.

Definitely a cool facet I recommend exploring.

    Thanks!

Edit: Holy crap!!! That's an awesome feature. Just when I thought this game couldn't get any better!

    Here's my tip:

Don't forget to use/tap the pointer on the bottom left of the hotkeys during build phase. Once the pointer is selected you may tap any installed turrets to show the visibility and range it can cover. It's in the guides section but I easily overlooked it in my early plays.

I really dislike the fact that you can only upgrade/access the store with an Internet connection & the pistol is very underpowered.

Yeah, the pistol is weak, but it's not hard to get past it. I don't have the Plasma Rifle unlocked yet, so I've gotten in the habit of buying the shotgun before round 2. Not too bad to use the pistol for 1 round.

Just my two cents but I don't like it much.... Not sure why... The controls are not very good. I can't hit the fire button and I just sit there getting hit then I'm like OH shoot I'm not shooting! I have played FPS before and never had this problem. And the gameplay is just HARD! I can't get past night.... Just HAHAFHALKHFASHL.... I don't know just not my favorite... Did not live up to the hipe....

You can upgrade your weapons/blocks with Rare Minerals in the Craft section.

Also, Shotgun is a really good cheap-ish replacement for Pistol.

Night time isn't a problem if you use lights as spotters near base/around map for bigger guns.

It's also very easy once you get to lasers and upgrade them with the mod to shoot in the dark.

Gameplay IS hard yeah, personally wouldn't want it any other way lol, but even then waves get easier the more you craft. For me it goes above and beyond the hype

Also don't stand still when you are shooting, always be on the move strafing around enemies it helps a lot. Once you get a bigger base and can afford towers and such then standing still can work with snipers, rocket launchers etc, though you will still need to collect the credit boosts if you can.

There is also an option to upgrade player armour or plant farms to regen health, then once you unlock plasma rifle you can use it on wave one.

So don't give up, the point is to craft and improve with each base you use at least in survival.

Or go sandbox and just shoot for teh lols

Also, it may sound backwards but try to mine the minerals from the edge of the map first then as the game goes on and enemies get stronger, the deposits that are left over tend to be in the middle and easier to defend from things like wraths. It's the best way for long term play in survival as you can then move to the other side of the base quickly to adjust defences and shoot. Though if you get to the extreme long play you will likely want spotter towers in each corner of the map with teleports to get around them via the tops.

The nuke is an interesting tool once you level up far enough, easy to waste but it can help on a mass group significantly.

Why aren't these games ported to consoles any more? I just don't like any first person games on my iPad/iPhone, they just don't "work" as well imho. This would be great as a console game, though..

    Frustration abound.

I somewhat agree with Jared. Although I love BH and H&C to death, BF's design just doesn't feel that great to me. Some of my observations in number form.

1 - The shoot button is placed so awkwardly. In the majority of fps games, when I tap somewhere randomly on the right, my gun usually fires because the shoot button because it is where I expect it to be. The shoot button in BF is just a little too far to the right. I have to keep looking in that direction then readjusting. But even then, I un-subconsciously move my finger back to the left without realizing it.

2 - AI is TOO smart(?). I don't see how attempting to slow the goblins down is practical in the slightest. There's too little building units and you can't exactly build a long roadblock. How this is bad design imo is that you are unable to funnel anything into your DPS maze(I expected to be at least able to funnel, if nothing else). Furthermore, they target only your weakest link. So if you spend too much time fortifying one place and you die within 5 seconds int he next round, it's because everything was piling up at your 1 block skimpy defense. Edit: Something I forgot to mention is that it's interesting how they come from both extremes of a map. Forces you to defend an additional 2 sides if the primary side is too well fortified :(

3 - And why do weapons have to cost such insane BU? I can understand high levels, but not high BU. You're basically telling players that it's not a TD game at that point, but merely an FPS craft. If I did decide to purchase a weapon, I'd have to sacrifice 2 plasma towers or 10 tanker blocks, which would help me last a REALLY long time.

Just my 2 cents. I still love FM.
    Ruzu

P.S. Anyone know how you upgrade. I've clicked multiple options and have failed to see any kind of upgrade menu.
