My advice would be to start at place near mineral veins so you can extract them easily. For extractors and nearly all stuff to work you need generators.First upgrade in craft menu minigun damage and aim for no energy upgrade for minigun turrets ASAP so you can have a lot of them without having to worry about generators, they are cheap and very effective when stacked together with damage upgrade.I always surround my extractors and generators with another layer of blocks ( and put one turret near if they are further from my main defenses ) as they are both quite expensive.Main base design varies from map to map, but always aim for higher ground , it is much easier to defend it.Once you are mostly done or satisfied with "main block wall" around the base I suggest building blocks to extend it "in the air", meaning you can just add one block in line with other to create a path in the air without any blocks needed to support that. With that in mind, you can build virtually endless air corridors ( as long as they are connected with one block to ground level) to any part of map and just put turrets on them which will shoot enemies as they approach, and enemies won't be able to destroy any of them. I am not sure if I like or dislike mortars, on one hand they provide very good long range support from higher ground, but on the other ( I am not sure about that though) they damage your own blocks and destroy "stock" blocks over time, what can be very dangerous in snow covered maps, once it destroys snow, you have a big gap for enemies to come trough. I wish I could build some kind of labyrinth castle but it just isn't possible with enemies oriented to destroy stuff first, not charge in.
Lol Guess I'm already a fanboi but oh well, I'll bite. FM has given so much advice and support on these forums it's actually pretty cool. Now they may have a good dose of pride in the veins right now, which comes off sounding pretentious when someone attacks them or their game, but that's kind of understandable considering the quality of these products. Then again it's hard to really extract tone from text unless the author is being explicit. Maybe provide an example of this vibe you get?
I managed to survive until wave 21 and took a few pics to help with those who want to survive longer 1- upgrade mines to use no power 2- upgrade plasma gun distance 2 times and get power source mod and use as snipers 3- get detector mod on laser for night time missions So here's the base. If you manage to get to wave 20 you get attacked from all directions might be good to keep in mind for future planning! In loose form it's an upside down pyramid, giving maximum circumference range to the guns but the only issue is that as a base like this sits in the middle you MUST pack long range weapons to protect the mines at the maps edge! I'm stuck on wave 21 but with more crafting upgrades it should go further no problem! as I very nearly passed it any way. Just happened that I walked in front of a mob behind a hill while taking pictures then died.
Hmm, sorry you feel that way - definitely not our intention! All we try to do is be active, and give honest answers. We also build games that we love to play, so when it comes to balance and game-play discussion, we may sometimes sound just like another passionate player arguing their opinion - but we still LOVE to hear other peoples' thoughts and opinions!
Here's an idea! It might be cool to have the ability to create an item transport / advanced storage which goes accross different maps. So if you craft something like IDK... Sniper or plasma gun you can put it in there and take it out somewhere else. Of course if leaderboads balance needs to be considered it could have a high mineral cost so people don't coast through level 1 (not that that's a bad thing). What it means is that people who make big bases but don't want to waste the save because it's well... Big and fancy, they can come back after having upgrades and crafting additions then use a gun from another map to help out... Which at that point I don't think it will be an advantage as it would be more than an extra tool to help with progress. Wink wink EDIT: lol some one in the UK app store said "if you want to build in this game forget it because graphics is not nice" but still gave it 5 stars? Weird! Any way, the graphics are actually pretty darn good.
Damn. I feel so far away from that, both in terms of gameplay and concept. Cool to see. Thanks for posting.
Just downloaded this game! (accidentally fell asleep waiting last night. ) Can't wait to get into it today!
Go to Main menu, Tap options, Look under first subsection controls, There you will find a sensitivity slider. Possibly turn it down there if you find it too much, Or turn it up of course
I bet anything that I suck more than you or anybody else for that matter. I almost feel dumb trying to play this. I'm gonna keep an eye on this thread and hopefully come across some helpfull hints and tips that I understand, people here at TA are usually very helpfull
Definitely if anyone thinks they have a cool looking base, or would like tips on how to improve their current fortress, post a screen!
so placement of the MG turrets is vital, depending on where the MG turrets are place to shoot down, straight ahead, etc. is that correct?
Your "iphone" screenshots for the game all show a black bar down each side of the screen. I'd fix that if I were you, because I probably won't be the only person to think your game doesn't support 16x9 aspect ratio and therefore not buy it.
I am Loving it and am sure will get it but I am struggling with MG placement. I seem to get the line of sight wrong and they don't shoot an enemy when I think they should be able too. It is a bit frustrating but is very good and enjoyable.
This happened to me a few times but I was always able to play through it. I just saved at the end of the round I couldn't find the bad guy and then reloaded (from the beginning). After a few tries it worked... and I got some extra gold, minerals, and EXP.
I registered just to say I agree with this. I've been lurking in the Heroes and Castles thread for a couple weeks and felt the same way. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Can you post a quote or give an example of where we have "bitten" anyone? I suppose we just could just ignore people that post things we don't agree with so we don't give the wrong impression, but I think its more respectful to interact with the people who take the time to post something, and take our own time to explain why we won't do something or why we may disagree with them. Thats not "holier than thou" syndrome... its trying to show that - while we care deeply about everyone's opinions and ideas - we can't make every change everyone asks for.
