That is part of the style. Trust me, even if the inital creation of the sprites was sliding a hue tab, there were so many animation frames it about drove zack crazy. It's not in-game huetab sliding, if that's what you meant MidanGTX.

Well to be honest just sliding a hue tab doesn't turn the eyes red anyway: ...so I dunno what he did to get that but it was obviously more work than just changing the hue... intentional or not.
I think it was something like stylizing the color palettes, it used like 10 hue sliders and zack had to get them all right to make the red work out. And you're right about the work, it took him at least a half an hour to get every frame done.
