Potential to be a aaa ios title however I think it requires a bit of compromise when it comes to controls from the dev team. I understand that the dev team has a vision and have pretty much done an amazing job with regards to gameplay and the controls to some degree, however I would request an alternative control scheme for making the game more accessible to people who play with two hands. One hand tapping works well for infinity blade mainly because it lacks free form movement, bladeslinger however would fair better with traditional 3rd person action controls and a bit more zoomed out camera during combat so as to make it easier to doge. I've gotten used to the controls however its impossible to be perfect in combat and controlling with just one hand with taps and swipes makes it unbearably hard on my fingers especially while holding an ipad. Still very addictive gameplay make it worth the effort. Please consider an alternative control scheme it would make it more accessible to people. Thank you for all your effort.
While I would like to see a compromise of the kind Nielo360 mentions, I would probably settle for just having the character's movement direction change when the camera is turned. To have to let go of the second finger for the Bladeslinger to change direction creates a very cumbersome and unintuitive movement scheme, forcing the player to choose between camera or movement control, instead of unifying the two (which is the norm for a very good reason ).
I've been tracking the game since before it came out, I'm a big fan of developers who push the iOS platform to new levels with quality games and finally I get this game. The first impressions from this game was about the gergeous effects and looks, very well done specially for the themed. The gameplay seems very ambitious, I like the dodge and block options like defense also the long and short way of attack with shoots and slides. With every ambitious project comes issues and I think this game has one with the camera angle and the controls. I'm a believer of the improved controls, I don't think it's necessary to have a virtual gameloft-style joystick to work well, but I think the game would work better with an extra option for walk like point to walk like Horn or maybe the virtual joystick Chaos Rings-style. I'm playing with an iPhone, and the two-fingers way to block and dodge really surprised me, and it must be good in the iPad maybe there the game has more space for the camera, because sometimes I was trying to dodge but I just simply couldn't by the space or the responsive of the game, I think two-tap with one finger to the place we wanna dodge it's a more simply way, but the two-fingers to block seems very well improved. The camera angle it's very important and more when it's automatic, I think would be good to have a semi-automatic camera option, maybe to zoom-out while battle, cause I need space to see the screen off enemies and also my character, and of course some space to do dodge and moves. The game seems very good, but I've always said: A game may be ruined by the lack of options. By the way, I'll no buy extra chapters, the first liked to me, but it needs work, and of course feedback from your users very good work Kerosene, congratulations and hope to see updates soon.
Wow, when you start to get the game.. the controls... and how they all come together you realize what a great game this is... To some who may have been discouraged - try the controls out, buy some upgrades most especially Second Wind first and then a couple of Blademaster ones. Combos and options will open up and when you can string up combos with your sword, your gun, and your punch - ALL in one string of attacks - that's when you'll SMILE and tell yourself they did the right thing with this awesome game. Thanks Kerosene for forging ahead and going against the grain!
Wish I could play... Really want to love and play this game, but it sucks that iPod 5 is not supported. And yea, I know about the ifunbox trick, but as soon as I sync my iPod, it removes it. I don't blame Kerosene though. I saw another game recently that tried to support iPod 5s, but got hundreds of bad reviews because stupid people wouldn't read the description, and bought it for the iPod 4! Why Apple, must you make life so hard for developers? Anyways, keep up the good work Kerosene, and if you can make this play on the iPod 4, please do, so all of us iPod 5 users can enjoy it as well.
beat all 6 chapters. its a fairly quick game ... i bought if for a dollar and would say it was worth the dollar ... hoping that the next episodes are only a dollar or 2...and ETA on the next episodes? also is episode 2 gunna be a completely different app? or an IAP?
Recently I talked about my impressions of this game but days ago backed to played the first chapter. I bought Bladeslinger and Ravensword at the same time and actually started again Bladeslinger to finish the first episode (I only did the two first chapters) Anyways, now I'm more acquainted with the controls and I really admire the Kerosene's work, it's great to play with one hand and really works very well, but that iAP pressure it's very annoying, would be good the game works by levels and we could get all without purchase anything (just the aids) Actually, this game it's better than Ravensword, but it needs to be fair with iAP, don't mess up this game please.
I've been playing this for the past few days and I really enjoyed this. More than infinity blade. One thing that bothers me is that there are just no alternative costumes which makes the character looks boring after a while and the enemies are all the same save for the bosses. Also, does anyone know how the final score accounts? Espacially the 'speed points'. No matter how quick I beat chapter one, I always get a big 'C' in speed points, is A for speed possible? How? Additionally, the game seemed to only let me acquire hidden spirit stones once, which means I have no way to change the final score with 'how many stones found' through any replay, not if I clear all data and lose all upgrades I guess. This needs to be fixed. I'd like to be able to reset my highest score through replays that don't remove my hard eared upgrades.
Hey buddies, anyone knows how to perform Charged shoot? I let my finger into an enemy but nothing happen'
Hi Farfield, if you hold your finger on the enemy (tap & hold), William will charge a shot and fire on release. Brett @kerosenegames kerosenegames.com
Thanks, in fact I wasn't figure out that you need to upgrade and not only unlock the skill. By the way, I send you guys a feedback email days ago, hope you like the feedback I'm really excited about what it comes for this game.
Looks like we might get some new content soon (i hope so), and Android users finally will enjoy this game to From KeroseneGames twitter: "We’re cooking up a tasty Bladeslinger update for your iOS consumption. Oh, and ready your Nexus 7s and Galaxy S3s as well…"
