The game felt extremely easy to me . All you have to do is focus on getting infinite regeneration and it's over as far as difficulty is concerned .
Anyway I hope for more enemy variety in episode 2 .

Horn updated with iPhone5 support and Bladeslinger the same day! sweet!
Hope the rebalancing is going to be ok with people like me in the middle of the game(ie, not beeing too weak or too poor)

So I replayed chapter 4 as my save data was corrupted in chapter 5.
I can't really tell regarding the balance as chapter 4 was easier but certainly because my character was stronger.
It was much faster to finish each encounter and therefore a bit more enjoyable.

It seems the ennemies AI is better than before as they dodge, run away sometimes, which I haven't seen before.

    The evade system now works!
It makes quite a huge difference in fact.

The first time I did the chapter 5 it was 30 minutes but now it is 25 minutes.

I hope the dodge explanation appearing from time to time while in a battle will stop showing up when reaching the 5th time or something like that as it is a bit annoying.

I still need to start chapter 5 again to see how it goes but for now, it seems really better!

You think Horn would work for iPod touch 4th gen?
It's says in the update that it made lower devices able to play?

    I can't tell sorry.
I used to have some frame drops here and there on my 4S but perhaps the update fixed things. You should check with people on the Horn forum using an iPod 4th gen for better inputs.
It is not full screen on the iPhone5 btw... they just "optimized" the graphics I guess.

Ok, thanks a lot. Upgrading next yr so can't really do anything but ask for iPod 4th gen optimization.

From what i have heard , fourth generation devices get a non retina game of Horn to help it run smoothly on ipod touch 4 and iphone 4. So if you can live with the graphics not as sharp, then i think you should pick it up.

    update

Updated last night. Played through a few chaps. Haven't seen any "new combat encounters". The main changes seem to be

    1. Second Wind now only regen like 1/4 of total health
    2. Chap 5 in Plagued Mode has 15 mins time limit instead of 20 (good luck with that)
    3. Spirit stone drop are really scarce now (not sure if it's because I've maxed out everything)

    No new content.

OK, so did the update bring any good changes, or should I just stick with what I've got for now?

... Why make an already unbalanced level even more unbalanced?

Depends. The off-screen enemy attack button is much better now, everything else seems more unbalanced. If you are early in the game probably stick with the old version.

Damn, i held off updating to see what were you guys saying about it and I dont likE what im reading. Ill wait for more impressions before updating.

I did felt second wind to be overpowered but I was enjoying the game as it was and actually didnt enjoy having timed parts so decreasing the time limit is ni that cool for me.

    New update impressions:

Well, as many before me have noted the off screen enemy buttons are very much improved over the last build. For one, they now actually work, but in addition to that tapping it when it is red will both shift the focus to that enemy as well as dodging that enemy's impending attack. There is a bar that slowly goes away on these indicators, showing exactly when the enemy is attacking. Its a nice touch but sometimes I'd rather it just show up a little later because when I dodge right when the button comes up I often dodge too early. This doesn't make battles in cramped areas much easier, but it relieves a lot of frustration i had with the original.

Second Wind is also nerfed, only restoring half of the missing health this time around as opposed to all of it. Kinda makes increasing the health bar size more important now, and adds some challenge to the game overall. The only problem I have with this is that now I find myself choosing whether or not I can use another technique card and still be able to gain enough spirit to heal myself again, therefore this kinda discourages technique cards in my opinion.

On my second playthrough on the second difficulty level, just got to the timed mission. the time limit is now 20 minutes, and is impossible to reach without using viper oil and other consumables. I really don't like the timed levels and I feel like others will probably call them pay walls, as you constantly need to use items to even have a chance of winning.

About the new characters, there are no new enemy types, but some enemy names come up in different colors (red, green and blue so far) with adjectives before their name ("Hasty Reaper" or "Hulking Brawler"). Not sure what the names mean yet, but if I had to guess I'd say it relates to their attack patterns somehow. I do like the new system of earning tokens, as you now earn the pieces by executing finishing moves on enemies with green stars above their head while stunned (as opposed to yellow stars). This makes earning tokens much more dynamic. I would love to see some correlation between the new special enemies and the token drop rate (tougher enemies = higher drop rate) but I'm not sure anything like that exists right now.

Overall, definitely still a game worth playing. I'll be interested to see what comes in the first major content update. Keep up the good work guys!

Yes, the off-screen buttons work and it's a huge improvement!

As for the rebalancing, I've played on the iPad from the start and I do think it's easier.
That's why I guess they reduced the time limit of chapter 5(even though I don't really like this chapter).
Well, it might be easier because it's the 2d time around though but each encounter takes less time that's for sure.

And, as expected, this game is better played on the iPad. The only draw back will be the finish QTE that are fullscreen on the ipad. Half the size would have been perfect IMO.

I've finished the game in normal mode as
the update did fix the chapter 5 no-spawning bug.
I have to say that the sheriff did take quite some time to finish and if I had died, starting over would have been too much for me...

I don't think it is pushing IAP that much, way less than NYZII IMO but without regeneration or second win it can be challenging.

All in all, it is a good game but really needs more ennemies to make it fun.

Will try the game without buying Infinite Second Wind or Regeneration on the ipad and see how hard it can get. Especially want to see if we can use different card (as for now using a power attack instead of Regeneration is too risky)
