Ok, so after being in an infinite loop of dieing endlessly in the middle of Chapter 2 due to having less than a quarter of health and not enough to buy potions, I gave myself an ultimatum - play again, and if this is still a problem, delete. So I restarted the game. I already had 3 full crystals, so I needed 3 more shards to complete another and get the health regenerator (next to second wind, can't remember name). MAN!!!! This made THE DIFFERENCE. All of a sudden, I breezed through the first 3 chapters, fights became fun, and I didn't die even once. If just that ONE THING could change the gameplay by SO MUCH, that means the game is inherently broken. Is anyone on my side with this observation? Controls notwithstanding, and the battles seemingly being mundane (slash, slash, block, shoot, slash, roll - rinse and repeat), the game is now fun and interesting. I want to see more of the area and find out the story. From being a 1.5/5 game before this, I'd now rate it 3/5. Still broken, thin on content, repetitive, suckish controls and IAP pushy, but its now playable. I just can't imagine the devs put off releasing this game for one year yet could only achieve so very little with that extra 12 months. I was honestly still expecting more.
Somebody also mentioned depth of field earlier in the thread. I don't see an option to turn it on in the settings. Is this limited to devices higher than the iPad 2?
Combos I normally trigger a combo by doing right/left/right/left combinations, and once I have Blade Master maxed out, I can finish with a left or right slash, resulting a knockdown or a thrust. A map showing all combo moves would be welcome addition.
My fave move is right-left-right-down-up-down...and then continue repeating down-up-down. I think down up down is the most powerful combo (no?) Also, what does the wordings mean - like wicked, swift, bloodslayer, railroarded, skullmaster (I can't remember then exactly). Also, how do you know that you've triggered a combo?
I have both iPad 2 and 3, and it's a world of diff between the two. It looks pretty amazing in retina iPad (better than IB 2 IMO).
If you don't mind, can you please just list em differences? I'm curious to know what are they exactly. I have a Tegra 3 tab too, and that probably will get even more effects than the iPad 3 version when it *does* come to Android.
The difference is basically in terms of image details (2048 x 1536 vs 1024 x 768). You see a lot more details, especially far objects in the background, and the color is more vivid on iPad 3 as well. Game play is identical on both. Here are a couple of screenshots from each for comparison: http://postimage.org/image/fh5yicy0b/ http://postimage.org/image/fwh8bdjxn/ http://postimage.org/image/lw4zf14q3/ http://postimage.org/image/683s88p4b/
On my iPad 3 it's in between the 3 sound volume options and the clear data option, would have thought if the 3 had it the 2 would have as well, unless a memory thing.
I won a copy of this game on twitter from the dev kerosene game , I have just played the first chapter, and this is the type of game what I have been lookin for on the ios for ages, it's has got brilliant graphics and the game play is very technical and deep, not what you normally get from ios games This is different. I like it and I want to play the first chapter again. Playing this on my i5 I'm enjoying it thank you dev kerosene games great job
Depth of Field is on by default on every device except iPad 3. Since Bladeslinger runs at retina resolution, this effect usually it about a 5-10 frame per second hit, and in really complex scenes like the Caverns with multiple enemies, the frame rate (with Depth of Field on) can dip into the low 20s, so we don't recommend it. All other devices do fine with it Brett @kerosenegames kerosenegames.com
A while! Tried to squeeze in Thanksgiving dinner & some R&R. Been a long stretch! Brett @kerosenegames kerosenegames.com
Awesome that you're getting into it, defred34! The words tied to combo streak aren't really informative yet...we're working on making this better in our first update so that you know the name of the combo you performed and how you did it. BTW, the Blademaster upgrades unlock more powerful combos...definitely work exploring. Usually the that's the first upgrade I do when I have enough soul stones. Brett @kerosenegames kerosenegames.com
