This is becoming more and more prevalent in the app store. and usually for no god-damned reason. The only game which IN ALL HONESTY can REALLY ONLY RUN ON THE NEXT GEN might be Epic Citadel. DEVS, YOU COULD OPTIMIZE THE SAME GOD-DAMNED GRAPHICS BEFORE 3GS WAS OUT. What stops you now? Oh, right, if people buy your crap regardless, why do it? And no, the fact that apple doesn't support anything beyond the 3GS any more has nothing to do with this. THEY have a hardware to sell. App store devs don't. sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,712 1 0 Indiana, USA #6 sizzlakalonji, Sep 29, 2010 I'm glad that devs are pushing the hardware to its limits. You can't just look at filesizes to determine what levels of processing and graphical strength you need. I want less doodle jump and more Epic Citadel. It's time to get rid of the 1st and 2nd gen devices, and get with the times. amusing Grace Well-Known Member Dec 23, 2008 1,685 8 38 Music, Muse, Magick Berlin, Germany #7 amusing Grace, Sep 29, 2010 @sizzlakalonji : I really don´t see where this game is pushing the hardware to the limits, honestly. Besides, restrictions like this should be mentioned in the previews in my opinion. markx2 Well-Known Member Dec 28, 2008 685 0 16 #8 markx2, Sep 29, 2010 Shame, I was looking forward to this. Be interesting to see the tech specs which make 3rd gen+ the only hardware. sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,712 1 0 Indiana, USA #9 sizzlakalonji, Sep 29, 2010 I understand what you're saying, but I think people need to realize that this is the direction that the app store is heading. The most desired games will more and more be 3rd and 4th gen exclusive. My point is that I want games that push the hardware to its limits, so I don't want devs to feel that they have to "dumb down" their games to make 1st and 2nd gen owners happy. Upgrading hardware has always been part of gaming culture. markx2 Well-Known Member Dec 28, 2008 685 0 16 #10 markx2, Sep 29, 2010 True, but not as expensive and as often for something so cheap. And as I say that as someone who owns a dozen and more gaming systems. doodlejumper Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2010 2,881 2 0 Stuck in traffic #11 doodlejumper, Sep 29, 2010 Not 2G?? Don't worry though when you upgrade you machine will be backwards compatible with what you have now. Sorry but nobody knows how to make things forward compatible yet (stupid physics). sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,712 1 0 Indiana, USA #13 sizzlakalonji, Sep 29, 2010 But the main reason it's "so cheap" is because this market started as primarily casual games that didn't push the hardware at all. Thankfully, those days are gone, and along with the casual games, we're getting games that are full-featured and robust. I don't want to go backward. I've owned three generations of iPhone, and I'm not complaining. Remember, this market isn't designed for children. crunc Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2008 4,575 0 0 #14 crunc, Sep 29, 2010 Well, I've got an iPhone 4 so I'm really looking forward to this. I will definitely be buying it for $1.99. I tried the demo on the Wii (when that was briefly available) and liked it, but never picked up the full game. Now I can get the iOS verison of less and with more features? Nice! I hope the accelerometer controls work well, though, because it seems like it ought to be accell. controlled given how the Wii one worked. I'm a tad worried about that, though, especially since they've included touch, which may imply that accell. control doesn't work well. I guess I'll find out! arta Well-Known Member Feb 14, 2009 6,902 1 36 #15 arta, Sep 29, 2010 Last edited: Sep 29, 2010 sammysin Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2010 8,375 2 0 Government Official. Edit: and it's fanboys. markx2 Well-Known Member Dec 28, 2008 685 0 16 #18 markx2, Sep 29, 2010 So I head to the Apple Store, pay £249 for a new Touch just to play a £1.19 game. Can't see the economics making sense there. I have a Touch and a shedload of games. It would be cheaper to buy a Wii and play this on my TV. I know tech moves on but each time it does some people do not follow and all those people can't buy those games. Namco doesn´t have the best reputation for flawless releases anyway, think of Ridge Racer, Katamari...........
