Insta-buy! I’m glad all of the codes were already used up, as I’d be sorely tempted to try and grab the game that way. These last few releases have all been great, deep games. Do you think you’ll ever go back to making level-based puzzle games? I have so many great memories of Sunday Lawn, Icy Escort, Action Buggy, Urban Ninja, Mexiball, Jailhouse Joe, and everyone’s favorite, Cat Physics. Though, my favorite is Bubble Pig! (Please, no pitchforks!) Also, do you think Alice Greenfingers will ever be updated? I have a full collection on my iPad of every Donut Game except that one!
Hi Tinsel, Great feedback, and yeah I actually agree... sometimes I too miss our classic level-based games. The satisfaction in griding through a long list of levels where you just HAVE to 3-star every single level. Perhaps we can find a way to release some simpler pick-up-n-play games in the future. Until then, the closest thing you can get is probably Footy Golf. As for Alice Greenfingers... you're not the first one to ask. The problem is that we ported Alice (the PC version) to iOS in early days of the App Store... heck, it wasn't even called iOS back then, but iPhone OS. And as one can clearly see, that port is not based upon our regular Donut engine unfortunately... if it would have, the game would probably already been updated many years ago. It's a messy process to migrate the game again, this time to our current Donut engine... but I'm guessing I'll have to do it some day. The game didn't sell very well even back in 2014 when it still worked, so I'm quite sure it won't make sense financially to do the port. But many fans have asked us. And I know it's indeed quite irritating to have a complete collection, except DG #10. I'll probably bump it up a few notches in my priority list. Daniel
I really dislike the font. The black and grey pixels just look blurry and give me eyestrain. An option to have all black would be 100% improvement. Probably more pronounced as I’m playing on the big iPad Pro.
Thanks for the reply! Sad news about Alice, but I’ll survive if an updated port is never made. I came across a minor bug in Birk’s. I was entering Robin’s house repeatedly to stock up on bombs, and when I hit 20 bombs, the map disappeared (it might be unrelated to bomb count, but I’m mentioning it). Could not get the indoor OR exterior map to work (they were just blank). Exiting to main menu and entering game did NOT fix this. Killing app and starting it back up did fix this.
I think the world was another world ten years ago. There is a reason why zen games have a so much boom today: People need it! Games like Stardew Valley, Farming Simulator, Story of Seasons, etc. are huge hits. I can speech for the german society: in my country many people suffering on depression, post-traumatic stress disorders and other mental illnesses. Or suffering to performance pressures. Games like Alice Greenfinger and simple puzzle games like Mexiball or Cat Physics too help these people to calm down and to relaxing. It‘s a way bigger gaming market then 7, 8, 9 years ago!
Great platformer Found the enemies a bit on the easy side, leaving the main gameplay to consist of exploring and learning the lands and dungeons.. still kept me busy for a little under 7 hours to complete, and that didn’t feel like 7 hours at all..
How long is the launch sale for? Been spending quite a bit lately but do want to pick this up at some point. On a side note, would love to see Traps n’ Gemstones updated for iPhone X screens!
Thanks! Working on an update to get that tag removed. We stumbled upon this bug 2 times too in an earlier stage of development (in other rooms though), but were never able to reproduce the glitch again. Restarting the app seems to fix it, but we'll keep our eyes open and see if we can find the reason behind it... I hear you. I'd like to add that even back in 2007 when Alice Greenfingers was released on the PC, it became one of our best-performing PC games (we released our games back then under another label, ArcadeLab). The game never took off on the iPhone though. Perhaps the timing wasn't right... or screens were too little back then, and we didn't compensate the visible gamefield enough. But yeah, I definitely agree. Relaxing simulation games like Alice where you "can't die" is good remedy when you feel a bit stressed out. Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we went with pretty easy enemies to make the game more casual / playable by all ages, instead focusing on the exploration / backtracking part. Sorry, no! All the way through December. Traps will be updated soon! Daniel
Hi everybody, Im kind of a newb at platformers... So any help at what I should do at the first dungeon that says to me “Got stacking skills ?” who be greatly appreciated, I am kinda stuck
Any hints on how to upgrade health? Have upgraded O2 like 4 times, but haven’t found any health upgrades.
Sorry I forgot to answer. I see your point. While I don't feel eyestrain myself, the font could probably be better. We still want it to be pixaled and retro-looking though... we'll see if we can figure something out. That's probably one of the more difficult tasks in the game, if you're not used to platformers. If you can't figure it out, just leave it for now. LOL Generally, it's a good idea to just continue trying to unearth as many treasures as possible. One's desired upgrade will eventually be found.
I ended up playing this game through, probably about 5 hours. 99% complete. Im missing a map in one dungeon but I can't be bothered to keep searching or grind for a map. I love platformers and this was very cool how it was kinda casual. My only gripe is the map, the disappearing which I know has been discussed and the fact that occasionally I would miss some of the yellow blocks due to how small the map is and no way to zoom. Would also have liked to see a "final boss" I do have a question for anyone els3 who has saved the king. I recall a guy chained up in a dungeon saying he can't be free till king released, can't remember for the life of me where he was or if it's worth going back to after beating the game.
Spoiler: About that guy... He is standing in the crowd (to the left) in the King's throne room during the end sequence. I.e. you don't have to go back and free him.
I really enjoyed the game. The last 4% I missed are a few treasure maps, unfortunately after you finish the game you can't come back. Nothing important really. Total play time 4 and a half hours. Highly recommended. But there is a bigger game breaking problem. I played on Android (Samsung Note 9) and usually I use my gamepad and external display (Samsung dex mode), which worked great. Today I started the game on the phone's screen (18.5:9 aspect ratio) and the bottom is cut off. The second screenshot shows that the on screen controls are almost not visible. The third screenshot is when a gamepad is used, then you are missing the ground where you are walking. I also had the bug with the map disappearing a few times, fortunately restart of the game fixes it. It turns out the game is not playable on the phone's screen for me, this is a major game breaking problem.
