Immediately noticed two things that have me worried. The text is really poorly displayed. Lines cut off mid word making it hard to read, and that's just a sign of a cheap game to me. Second there is a coin shop that I was already directed to twice and I've only played a few minutes. Seems this might be a 3 dollar paidmium game, but we'll see. I'll post more when I've played more. Otherwise the gameplay seems to be pretty good so far, about what I was expecting. It's one thing to have IAP in a $3 game, but I surely wouldn't want to be harassed to buy it after just a few minutes of play. theteamster Well-Known Member Jun 3, 2010 124 0 0 #9 theteamster, Jul 1, 2012 Hi Guys, thank you for posting this for us. First of all, thank you all for trying out our game Bio Crisis, we hope you guys enjoyed it. Second, about the "misleading" to shop option. I have to explain, there are 2 emergency buttons on the top and lower part of the screen when, 1, your hp is dangerous low 2, you are out of ammo and you are still tapping the fire button. If you do not have enough coins and yet you keep tapping them crazy, it will give you an option to go to the shop menu where you can buy ammos, upgrade your weapon and of course, iap. Now, you might say this is very harsh, since it is a paid game and shouldn't be any iap in it. Well, if you play the game long enough (or not), the character's HP regains itself, so, it is more like a patient battle on each level, unless you like to rush to a group of enemies and start slashing, that's your style, of course, it will get you killed easily. I think the game has a pretty good balance on keeping your characters alive, the HP regain system is meant to give the player a moment of rest and restore your HP and fight again, the instant heal and instant reload is for extreme players who do not believe in waiting. There's always a price to pay if you keep standing up and firing at groups and groups of enemies..right? A close counter knife strike will prevent an enemy from firing at you, so even if you low on ammo and do not wish to buy them, it is still possible to roll and slash and roll slash again, you just have to time yourself. But nonetheless, we really appreciate everybody's supports, please do give us your thoughts and we will try to do our best to adjust the game, in the end, if you guys aren't happy, we will knock ourselves in the head for disappointing you guys. I'm only a couple of missions in (4th mission) right now, but I'm already pretty damn impressed. The cover based shooting is great. I haven't been directed to the IAP shop or anything yet either... but then again, I haven't emptied out clip after clip into enemies or spraying around in the air either. There are little ammo spots throughout the game where you can stop and pick up ammo for all of your weapons. They don't fully recharge them, but they give you enough to get you through, especially if you try and use all the weapons they give you instead of just using the machine gun, or just using the shotgun all the time. For a Sphinx Entertainment game, I'm VERY impressed. Not saying that their previous ones haven't been anything special... I really really enjoyed VR Mission, Bouncy Penguin and Carrot War, they're some of the games that I've double dipped on, and wound up buying both the SD and HD versions of after I got my iPad... but this... has got to be their best game yet. =oD ** forgot to say... yes, the text does kind of bug me. Having it wrap around and complete words on the next line is kind of... well... annoying. Hopefully that can all be fixed in an update... but after playing Crimsonheart, I'm kind of use to it, so it's no deal-breaker by any means. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,788 576 113 England #12 psj3809, Jul 2, 2012 Decent retro shooter. Do like it but bizarre how they released it with all that terrible text wrapping. Didn't anyone notice it? The game itself is great though syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #13 syntheticvoid, Jul 2, 2012 k... little suggestion... any way you could make it so that you pull away from the wall by moving your character away from it, and then crouch again if you move your character towards the wall... instead of him staying stuck in the crouching position for as long as he does? It can get to be a pain when you're trying to run backwards, and are moving slowly because you're crouching, and can't roll because you rolled into the barrier, or you run by a barrier and it slows you down because you go straight down to the crouching position, even though you're kind of a ways away from the barrier... syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #14 syntheticvoid, Jul 2, 2012 ha... just re-read the game's AppStore description again... From what I can tell, when your health or ammo is low, you have two options. 1) purchase coins, or 2) wait it out. Isn't this basically what all freemium games do? Only this isn't free... so what's stopping this from looking like a grab for extra cash and putting off the consumers? syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #16 syntheticvoid, Jul 2, 2012 Yeah you have to wait for health to regen, but it only takes about 30 seconds. As for ammo, that doesn't replenish with time, you can get it at ammo spots (think Shadowgun) or buy in the shop... You get coins for each enemy you kill... I'm on Mission 8 and haven't needed to purchase any ammo yet, but if I need to later on, it's 1000 coins for 100 bullets, but I've got about 8,000 coins... It's really not pushed towards IAP at all, and does not feel like a freemium game what-so-ever... ducksFANjason Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2012 128 0 0 E-Discovery data technician Southern California #17 ducksFANjason, Jul 2, 2012 This looks great but I really hate the idea of IAP for ammo and health. No matter how prevelent they are, if I paid $3 for your game I shouldn't have to purchase anything else to stay alive! IAPs for new levels and additional content are bothersome but at least understandable, but this just smacks of greed... It's a shame too because the trailer makes it look awesome, I'd easily pay 5 bucks for a great game like this if they dropped the real-money-for-ammo(and health) stuff. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #18 syntheticvoid, Jul 2, 2012 Really?!? Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #19 Royce, Jul 2, 2012 Right around where you are is where I hit a wall, started getting low on ammo, and felt like I needed my weapons upgraded or something. Granted I did waste a ton of machinegun and shotgun ammo on the first boss before I figured out to use the rocket launcher and laser. I don't want to grind in this game. It doesn't feel like a game I should have to grind in, but I'm also not gonna pay more for a game I already bought, so I just chalked it up as a loss and quit. The game doesn't push dramatically toward IAP, but it saturates the game, and to me it absolutely does "feel" freemium. I'm always thinking about my resources and the idea of IAP is ever present. If freemium style games bother you, just the idea of them, then I'm pretty sure this game will bother you. If you're the type of person that likes playing freemium games and grinding to avoid IAP, and you think this game looks like its worth 3 bucks to you, then you may very well enjoy it.
