I never jailbreak and usually don't upgrade. In fact, if it were not for airpods I would still be in iOS 9.
And then there's my problem, being on Windows Vista which is not getting an update for iTunes to work on iOS 10. I'm stuck until I get a new computer. Unbelievable. Vista hasn't died yet. For some reason something arbitrarily changed in the file system, for how it backs up stuff and connects to the phone to transfer music/files/whatever. Where's the backwards compatibility?
Because I'm running a lot of music software that hasn't been updated or optimised yet (or maybe even won't be) and I can't afford to lose the compatibility. I'm not just an avid gamer, you see. And I'm sure many other people have legacy reasons for not updating.
Wtf? I didn't know that of Vista and iTunes version. I usually use my work Surface (Windows 10) to backup my iPhone (iOS 10.2), but my old laptop at home is Vista. Thanks for the heads up!
Not me. I jailbroke years ago and it made my device run slower. Never again, plus I'm just not interested in jail breaking. Offers me nothing I want. I usually update to the newest iOS but will wait to read about any bugs first. Also, I may not upgrade until certain games support it.
500+ hours? Really? I can't honestly say I've ever had that number out of any game (except maybe Chaos for the ZX Spectrum), there are plenty of excellent games that have been $1 or less: Infinity Blade 1-3 Limbo Swordigo Geometry Wars Evolution Battleheart Legacy Dust: An Elysian Tail Waking Mars Don't Starve Push that to $2, you get Crashlands and Sproggiwood. Push it to $5 and you get X-Com and Oceanhorn. I've got no issue with the dev if they want to charge $15 for the game, but it is disproportionate to the prices of other quality games in the App Store,
Yeah... A while ago I happened to look to download the latest iTunes install file while I was on my phone somewhere, which lead to seeing no mention of Vista, and from there going and finding out the latest Vista-compatible iTunes wasn't compatible with iOS 10... And I had not updated to iOS 10 yet, fortunately. Also I recently went looking this up again and saw comments saying it seemingly still worked before (or appeared to be backing up) but not anymore with the latest iOS 10-point-whatever... What happened? Some amount of backwards compatibility would make sense. Why wouldn't it still work?
This. Just because Crashlands and Dust went on sale, doesn't mean you should think of them as $2 or $1 games. I think the Butterscotch guys released Crashlands at a solid $5 (off the top of my head) price, and stuck to it for a whole year. That was still a bargain. $15 would have been a bargain - it kept me entertained for over 50 hours. If Binding of Isaac is as gripping as fans say it is, then $15 is fine. Still cheaper than any Nintendo Switch game will be. Oh, and I'm still on iOS 9 too. Not jailbroken. Just fond of GC and being confident that all my games that I already own will still work.
Again you don't have to be jailbroken to use pirated games. Some people who pirate games will be jailbroken some will not. Being jailbroken isn't the determinant factor, whether you want to pay for software is.
Well said, Sticktron. It gets old being lumped in with pirates just because I tweak my phone to play a scene from Jurassic Park whenever an incorrect passcode is entered.
1) (speaking for myself and others I know), because the latest can have its fair share of bugs and you'll be waiting for Apple to sort it out. A lot of people like to stay on a proven iOS than download the next iOS the minute it releases. 2) if you're like me you want a jailbreak. You know why I want a jailbreak? Because I can play iPad only games on my iPhone 6+. That's right, after I post this I'm going to fire up FTL on my iPhone and play that for an hour. When I'm done with that I'll fire up dungeon of the endless and play that for a while. After that maybe I'll fire up space hulk, or maybe I'll fire up desktop dungeons, or door kickers, or aquaria, or Runespell or quarriors or The confrontation. Sound like a good enough reason? I've got access to iPad apps on my 6+. And to Eli, I also buy all of my games. I bought Isaac not long after it dropped. And because I have a jailbreak, I was able to load version 1.1 of Isaac onto my iOS 9 device. That's right, I've got version 1.1 which is stable, the same as the latest iOS guys.
Talbs speaks the truth. So even if their goal was to deter piracy, which I suspect it wasn't, there is already an easy workaround. Edmund himself has a very good outlook on piracy and is aware that each pirated game does not equal a missed sale. Here's an old quote from around the Super Meat Boy release Our game was hugely pirated we dont ####ing care. If there are lets say 200,000 copies of SMB that are getting passed around for free, thats 200,000 people who are playing th game. If they like this game theres a really high probabability of their friends coming around and seeing it or them posting about it on their blogs. And its not cool to go round and say I really like this game that I stole, so theyre not going to say that. So its going to come around to sales. With that said, I pay for all my games and tweaks and I am not defending piracy.
I didn't want to come off as self-promoting so I changed it PS it's always a pleasure running into someone who enjoys your work. Thank you!
