Sadly the way physics are calculated its almost impossible for us to make the game fully deterministic ("play out" exact the same each time it is started). By removing and simplifying the physics to make it deterministic we would simply ruin the game from core up
I have put a quick review on the appstore, well done devs. Room for improvement: - As people mentioned it, a quicker way to get to the start line would be nice but I have to say, hitting "pause" and "restart" isn't very difficult either (and with no loading time, it works). So just something that just makes life a bit easier. - iCade support: Seriously, this is another game where having a joystick/buttons wouldnt' necessarily make the game play better, but there is the odd time where my fingers slips off the button or the lean buttons and I end up messing up. With the iCade or other bluetooth controls, that eliminates this. - You've already mentioned it, ability to see list of top rated levels. I want to flip my comments around as part of my review, with comments on what this game does not need: - User submitted content: Thank you for the easy ability to download levels and I have to say, a few submitted here on toucharcade are really cool and fun (and there's some sadistic bastards around here, but that's ok, they're great!) - Universal support: Always asked, not always provided, therefore this is very much appreciated. - Personality: The Baron is a cool dude, I personally don't get tired of his quips and I could see this guy being a mascot for your company (or the cat eheh) - Fun factor: You've nailed it, no need to update this at all. Thanks again, Loaf
The problem is that Game Center only allows a total of 25 leader boards. So blame Apple for that one. I have no idea why they don't increase that total number. The only way to track scores for all of the tracks would be to add OF support, or create a custom leader board (which isn't a trivial task).
Jeez, the guy wants to fly over whole levels like in Mario. I am glad devs do not over-simplify games to cater to such gamers. Actually some of them do.
I am pretty sure the physics are actually very deterministic. But for players creating the exact same run everytime is not possible. For e.g. If you just press only go from the start and don't leave it. You will run the exact same way every time. I have tried this.
Ok. I thought I had finished all intermediate levels. Turns out, I haven't. The last one before the joker, How am i supposed to get the coin snuggled in between all those barrels. I have gotten it before with the front tyre, but I had failed to notice the first coin then. Now I can't get the coin between barrels at all. Help!
I finally finished Joker Cat 3! Once you start getting the pieces down, it isn't that bad, but there is no way I'm going to finish that level within 30 seconds. And with that bomb bridge, it is highly doubtful I'll do it with no crash. I'm happy enough just making it to the finish line.
The further I get into this game, the less I play in a single sitting. Partly because my battery has died, but mostly because I fear for my brain cells with continuous exposure to failing the same. bloody. JUMP. GRAWRGH! Okay, back to playing.
Tell me about it. The guys who designed the levels are bloody sadists. I am sure they have a murder room in their homes where they torture victims. Of course the fact that I keep coming back for more makes me a masochist.
I just went back to play that level, and I got that coin a couple of times. I basically stop right at the beginning of that final ramp, then accelerate enough to make it up and off the top. As soon as you come off the top, let go of the gas and hold the right arrow to maneuver the front tire into the coin. I couldn't get the coin every time, but just keep launching off and holding right. EDIT: if you accelerate correctly, you'll let go of the accelerate button before you pop off the top, but you will still have enough momentum to launch off. That seems to help where you just barely launch of the top -- a bit easier to move that front tire in.
Hah, masochist indeed. The thing is, I LOVED Trials. I was one of the very few people to get the achievement that required you to go from start to finish without crashing once. I played every similar game, and never found the same level of fun and / or challenge. This game is the next best thing.
I totally agree this is the first game in ages has that the same kind of difficulty as trials hd. I also got that achievement.
As in all the levels without crashing once?! I have not played the game, but have seen tons of videos. You must be quite a daredevil motorcyclist in real life? I hope they don't add that achievement in Bike Baron. I will then be forced to try and achieve it. I so do not want to attempt that.
