I went to look and see as I had been waiting for this. Reviews do look pretty bad. However seems like some updating was done since the reviews were written. I am still going to pick it up. I will try to leave some impressions by this evening. My favourite game in past 10 years is probably Hades. I wish we had something like that on mobile. That game was just epic. Near perfect in every way. I wish all roguelikes would take their progression, weapon and weapons merging system on. So fun. Sagar Asthana, Lull4by and anthony78 like this. Some great weapons and gadgets. Feels like a bit like Enter the Gungeon but easier to play for sure. Still quite hard though. There are some fun mechanics with weapon chips and such. Cool secondary type weapons. Levelling up during game play can feel fun and significant. You feel the level up and the skill you choose. Some are really great. Upgrading your weapons with chips can be really fun and you can mix and match. So many different weapons so far. So it is a fun game. So that’s the good. And here is the bad… Gameplay seems to have some sort of frame rate issue at times or just some kind of shutter I can’t explain it. It’s not game breaking by any means. You get used to it. It’s mostly when there are these little enemies are on screen. It really isn’t the roguelike experience I was looking for. The part you upgrade between rounds is your robot. That being said I have done one upgrade in many games already. The upgrade is not even that significant. And more to that you don’t really use your robot that much. And when you do it’s only for a short time. Your robot is more like a rage power up for 20 secs. So there is not much levelling up to be had. That all being said it’s still a fun twinstick shooter with cool weapons and combinations. Just not really a roguelike. Certainly worth $5 IMO. houseofg, Sagar Asthana, nickhoola and 1 other person like this. Option to customize the virtual buttons, that is said it is hard to do dash without stopping attacking from the normal layout, there is an option to flick the right side to dash indeed, but now you would stop moving after you dash. 2. Saving, yes you can’t save as you want, you would lose the whole round you just played if you choose to leave the game, you can’t resume from the title page as well. (it is acceptable though, since it is a rogue-lite game.) 3. Auto-aim, the reason about it is because the game is originally a pc game, which means you can use mouse to aim without wasting any bullet, now you aim with your thumb, when you just touch the screen right side, you just shoot to a random direction, that is a big problem since you need to dash to evade bullets from enemies, so you would keep wasting the first bullet after you dash. The good parts: 1. Weapons Customization, that is a really fun function that you can try to build a better weapon from a normal one. 2. Map teleporting, that saves a lot of time, especially when you want to get time-limited rewards. houseofg and elcrazy like this. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 706 561 93 #9 elcrazy, Aug 31, 2023 Ugh considering deleting this at the moment…. Had the best run today. Finally beat level one. Was full health with the most incredible legendary weapon a legend chip and an epic chip. Gathered tons of crystals. Just had a blast. Paused and accidentally hit back to main menu….. Lost everything. No warning, you will lose progress. No continue your game. No getting everything I gathered. Just back to like I never played at all. It’s competent, but there’s no sense of peril, and no “magic spark.” Story is weak (perhaps poor translation but very blah), gameplay is frankly indifferent, and if I can make it through the entirety of l1 with no sense of danger + only being hit once, without needing any dashes or specials, then eurgh, really. There’s no zing there. No need to do anything. I don’t want to play through that repeatedly, I’d rather be replaying Brotato for the thousandth time! There’s also screen jitter when moving, which annoys me. Competent game, but I haven’t seen the spark. In a crowded field, with undead horde 2 out too this week, I’m out. Auto aim would definitely help, but there’s too much “keep your thumb on this button in the middle of the screen” with psym - the blue stuff? Perhaps this is only meant to be considered + used outside of battle; it + roll + specials do feel clunky. Contrast with any of the roguelike devolver titles and they’re in a different league. Don’t get me wrong I like soul knight but I personally think their auto aim is a little too much. It makes me feel like I’m not taking any part in the game accept dodging. I actually like how Juicy Realm did their shooting controls. They give you both options together. Hold the shoot button down it auto-aims at the closes enemy, while dragging the shooting button overrides auto-aim allowing you to control some of the shooting. I think this works great if you want to take out a specific enemy first. It gives you an illusion that you are controlling it freely. raravan and ColeDaddy like this.
