Although, this one seems like a dark one. I mean, my wife’s severed hand in the trash can - that doesn’t start pretty. I’m a sucker for romantic happy-endings in stories with a kiss, camera zooming out and orchestra playing. But I’m afraid I’m not gonna get any of that in the end of this journey. Still, checking those screenshots, watching the trailer.. insta-bought! Let’s find out what happened. EDIT> so it's not full game yet. Just two episodes for now. I can start with either. The third one says "coming soon". That's a (slight) letdown. Did I miss it in the game's description on the App Store or is it missing on purpose? Here is the forum thread from that: https://toucharcade.com/community/threads/beyond-this-side-by-glim-games.400227/ Since then Crescent Moon has taken over as publisher, episode 2 is now available, and episode 3 is scheduled for release this summer. And e3 should be out in Summer macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #6 macplash, Apr 15, 2020 I wish I knew it’s not a complete story. I would’ve waited with purchase. I might even forget what was it about once the 3rd episode is out in the summer. Instead of replaying it then, I’d rather wait and experience it all in one run. Which I’m probably going to do. From what I’ve seen so far, I love the hand-drawn graphics, it’s quite unique. Animations are also great. But as far as the gameplay goes, it’s more or less just tapping on blue glowing circles and dialogues. And I wish there was full voice-acting. That’d be neat. Also it seems to be on a shorter side. So, yeah. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,046 623 113 #7 anthony78, Apr 15, 2020 Still a bit annoying that they don’t say in the description about it not being complete. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #8 macplash, Apr 15, 2020 Yeah, so I ended up playing it anyway. Took me a little bit over an hour and a half to go through both available episodes. So, quite short, but with the 3rd episode added for free (hopefully) I guess it’s gonna be alright considering the $3 price tag. Not much of a challenge, just following what’s happening on screen and some puzzles. I really like the visual style though. ste86uk and Makara Nou like this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,569 896 113 #9 ste86uk, Apr 15, 2020 I’d probably wait until they are all out but it is sounding simple and not all that interesting so far? I had Tales from the Borderlands or whatever it was called by telltale which I loved I thought it was so good as I was a big Borderlands player and I never even finished that waiting for the content to be added and then forgetting what had happened and not wanting to start again. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #10 macplash, Apr 15, 2020 @ste86uk if you didn’t buy it yet I’d suggest to wait until the game’s complete. I guess I’ll be forced to replay it anyway to refresh my memory once the 3rd episode is added. And yeah, this is no hardcore adventure. I grew up on LucasArts‘ adventures like Monkey Island (dressed up myself like Guybrush Threepwood for Halloween once FCS) or Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, so this was not what I expected or hoped for. But as I said, for the price and visuals it’s okay. andsoitgoes and ste86uk like this. andsoitgoes Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2010 2,673 58 48 In a van, down by the river! #11 andsoitgoes, Apr 16, 2020 dude I love this. My favorite memories of growing up were the Kings Quest games. Had the biggest crush in a girl who had Kings Quest on her, gasp, 386 PC! fell into Quest for Glory and Monkey Island and i never looked back. I sucked, for the most part, but I loved every minute playing it. I’m still crestfallen that I can’t get Monkey Island on any system other than PC, it’s not even available in my purchase history for my iPad, and alas I clearly didn’t save the ipa file One thing that makes my heart soar, however, is that I can play Maniac Mansion inside Thimbleweed Park, I’ll never forget the hamster in the microwave on my NES! Dude, I’m not surprised you had such a crush on her. Who wouldn’t?! I mean, I started my PC journey right from the bottom: 286 all the way up. Yeah, good times. I miss the Turbo switch. Anyway, don’t wanna hijack the thread by off topic chitchat so I’m gonna be brief. Point and click adventure is a great genre especially for touch screen devices and I really REALLY hope one day we get some remakes of the biggest classics. Can you imagine?
