Over the past 6 mos. or so, my backups have been getting longer and longer. The last full backup I did took 15 hours and backed up over 30K files! I finally figured out the problem - it was either AppSniper or PandoraBox (or both). I removed both at the same time (unfortunately), and after that, backups went back to taking 10-20 secs and backing up only 3.7k files. But it's something that happens over time - when I put both apps back on, it didn't change backups back to being really long. I have a feeling the problem is AppSniper because I got that a while after PandoraBox, and I think it was after getting AppSniper that the problem started (though not immediately). And it wouldn't surprise me given how buggy AppSniper is. Of course, this could have just been a fluke with my iphone, but figured I'd share to give others fair warning. I've removed PandoraBox to see if this problem happens again having just AppSniper. If so, I'll report back again.
On the options screen for appsniper is a button to clear the icon cache. It even states that doing so before syncing will improve performance. It's how the app works, and the app has a way to help which is labeled so you can see that you should do so. EDIT: I mispoke slightly - if you tap the clear icon cache button, then it tells you that clearing the cache before backup should improve times.
Ahh, ok. Yeah, now that you mention it, I remember seeing that before, but didn't make the connection. It definitely makes sense now - I think that should really be made clearer though (like perhaps a popup message when you launch the app and the icon cache has gotten to a certain size).
Not sure, but I don't think it has the option to clear a cache. The fact is, PandoraBox hasn't worked well for me either - it's usually days behind in updating the list of apps. And sometimes it doesn't list an app at all.
