Hey everybody! We've just pushed out another update, and keen to know what everybody thinks. We've added missions and player progression to this build to start experimenting with a few ideas. Sign up for the beta here: http://bit.ly/skysquadronsignup ------------------------------ Listen up, Pilots! So after shooting down all those enemy pilots, I bet you feel like pretty hot stuff! Well don’t get cocky kid, because that was just the easy stuff! Now you’ve got your dogfighting skills honed, it’s time to get the real work done! Last week we slaughtered enemy planes by the hundreds using our state of the art flight control technology. Oh boy, did we put a dent in their fleet numbers! It’ll be weeks before they’ll be fully operational again! For a rundown of the results, you can read the full mission report here: http://blog.trickshotdev.com/index.php/2018/07/09/sky-squadron-mission-report-3-core-combat/ Now it’s time to start being more strategic. This next mission has more complicated objectives to complete, and bigger rewards to collect! Do well pilots and you’ll be flying the Golden Mk II Blaze in no time! What’s new: Watch out! The enemy has a new missile attack. Make sure to dodge incoming fire! We have a range of new missions to undertake - hunt down the enemy, take out their towers, steal their tuna! Level up! Get stronger! Unlock more things! Earn infamy for your sky pirate exploits and climb the ranks on the global leaderboard (iOS only) So many floaty numbers! See the damage you’re inflicting on the enemy! Things we’d like feedback on: Do you like picking your own missions undertake? What do you think about the different mission objectives? Do you like levelling up? What do you think about the level up rewards? What do you think about the new missile attack type? Do you feel like the damage and mission progress is being clearly communicated? Do you like the damage numbers that pop up whenever you shoot an enemy? Things to keep in mind: Some mission objectives may be hard to complete - we don’t have any auto balancing for objective placements The missiles aren’t always coming towards the player correctly Everything is still placeholder! Expect the visuals to change! We don’t have an “end game”, once you reach level 5 there isn’t any more content to unlock We still have a bunch of work to do on incoming damage! Furball has your back Sign up for the beta here: http://bit.ly/skysquadronsignup ------------------------------ Listen up, Pilots! With all those new missions you’ve had plenty of time to start climbing the ranks! Great work, pilots. With a new levelling up system we saw pilots proving that they really are made of the right stuff. For a rundown of the results, you can read the full mission report here: http://blog.trickshotdev.com/index.php/2018/07/23/sky-squadron-mission-report-4-player-progression/ No more going it alone - this time you’re going in with backup. In the latest version of Sky Squadron you’ll be joined by fellow pilot Furball. Keep him alive and he’ll have your back! What’s new: Wingmen join the squad! Work together to fight back the enemy. Fly the brand new Wisp! Sleek and agile, they’ll never be able to hit you. New plane colours! Watermelon is so hot right now. New mission intro and outro sequence! Things we’d like feedback on: What do you think of the wingmen? Are they helpful? What do you think about the new plane and paint jobs? Do you like seeing the planes before and after missions? Things to keep in mind: There is only one wingman at the moment! Your progress will be reset! Unfortunately that will be pretty commonplace while we’re building the game There is still a lot of placeholder art in the game The User Interface is all very temporary Missions are still very early, that’s something we’ll be working on next iOS testers have been added to Test Flight, so you should get an invitation shortly. If you don’t, please let me know and I’ll see what I can sort out. Make sure to shout them a beer at the officer’s club! For a rundown of the results, you can read the full mission report here: http://blog.trickshotdev.com/index.php/2018/08/10/sky-squadron-mission-report-5-wingmen/ I’ve got some bad news squad. The enemy has cut supply lines and our tuna reserves are dangerously low. At this rate we’ll be fishless within the week, and it we’ll be stuck eating dry food! The enemy’s tuna factories are brimming with delicious fishies. How about we go take a few off their paws! What’s new: New tuna factory environment full of tasty fish for you to plunder. New enemy targets! Vehicles! Giant turrets! Fish filled barrels! A new top priority mission to undertake! Go get those fish, pilot! New procedural mission types! It’s not just a mission timer anymore. “Exciting” new screens! Change the audio options, or even restart from the pause menu. In game patch notes! Keep up with what’s new! New title screen icons! Fewer words means lower localisation costs. SO THRIFTY! Things we’d like feedback on: What do you like or dislike about the tuna factory environment? What do you like or dislike about the the new tuna raid mission? What do you think about splitting missions into high priority for longer experiences, and side missions for shorter experiences? Things to keep in mind: Missions balance is very rough, this is something we’ll be focusing on again very soon. All user interface is placeholder. The enemies aren’t very dangerous, we’ll be working more on difficulty and AI soon If you have any other feedback please email us at [email protected], or fill in our form at: http://bit.ly/skysquadronfeedback If you have any friends who would like to join in the beta, feel free to have them sign up at: http://bit.ly/skysquadronsignup You can also follow us at: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/skysquadrongame/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/SkySquadronGame Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Sky_Squadron/ Discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/EnsSjZR Good luck, Pilots!
Not at the moment, and it's unlikely we would get that feature in. The game is pretty heavily designed around being third person rather than first person. That said, we did manage to get a secret first person mode into Astro Attack, so maybe it'll be an easter egg It would be interesting to throw a camera on the plane and see what it looks like. I expect it would be a one way trip to vomit-town
Time for another beta update! Sign up for the beta here: http://bit.ly/skysquadronsignup Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel ------------------------------ Listen up, Pilots! We’ve had reports the enemy has upgraded the tuna factory. Operating at this efficiency they’ll overfish us all to starvation! Time to head back into the fray and get those fishes while there are still some to collect. What’s new: New Tuna Factory hazards - Try not to get crushed, smashed or burned alive. Art updates for the canyon and factory sections. Environmental collisions - No more ghosting through rocks and trees, sorry. New title screen art and smoother loading transitions. Plane part and paint updates Updated enemy targeting system for more reliable pew-pew Various bug fixes and improvements Things we’d like feedback on: What do you think about the new tuna factory hazards? How is the performance on your phone? What do you think about the new targeting system? Things to keep in mind: We are still working with a lot of placeholder, especially the UI and audio. The new game camera needs a lot of work. The enemies aren’t very dangerous and incoming damage isn’t balanced If you have any other feedback please email us at [email protected], or fill in our form at: http://bit.ly/skysquadronfeedback If you have any friends who would like to join in the beta, feel free to have them sign up at: http://bit.ly/skysquadronsignup You can also follow us at: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/skysquadrongame/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/SkySquadronGame Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Sky_Squadron/
Hey there...I am enjoying the test flight beta. Any more beta updates coming? ETA on world wide release?
Hey! Sorry on the radio silence, but yes! We do have some updates coming very soon (probably in about a month - I've got a wedding in a few weeks and that's slowing things down). The reason it's been so long since the last update is because we've been completely rebuilding our mission system and combat system to get all kinds of awesome stuff happening in the level while still keeping it randomly generated. To give an idea of where it's at, check out our latest tweet https://twitter.com/i/status/1129384911788552192
Hey no problem Mr Snuffle. I understand you have been busy. All the best on the wedding. That train looks awesome. My test flight build expired. Any chance on sending [email protected]. Thanks.
The build is in a bit of a state of flux at the moment, so isn't really ready for test flight. We'll definitely be posting a build again soon, and I'll make sure you're in the next round
Hey everybody! Sorry we've been so quiet lately, but that's because we've been hard at work on getting Sky Squadron ready for open beta! Good news - it's ready now You can go grab it on Test Flight here: JOIN OUR IOS TEST FLIGHT BETA HERE We're really excited to hear what everyone thinks. This is only the beginning for Sky Squadron, and your involvement will help make the game as awesome as possible If anyone is interested in more info, we've got our website here, and our presskit here.
Very good work. Looks like a simple arcade shooter at first but there really is a lot going on here, which manifests in the variety of levels and objectives. Everything meshes together well; flying, dodging, shooting, upgrading; it all feels right. Biggest draw for me is the overall Porco Rosso vibe, captured in the stylish and colourful artwork. No technical issues so far. Only concern is the game icon is a bit average.
