Strategery is quite nice since its last update, offers quite a few options to customize the game, interface is really nice too. Though I now never play it. Slay is the current turn based strategy game I'm playing, 384 levels with 4 difficulty settings. Theres a free windows version if you want to give it a try, no Lite version yet (its only about 2 weeks old on the app store). The game is very balanced having been around for a number of years. I used to have the palm version and missed it alot after getting my iphone.
Also waiting for a good turn-based strategy game. On my old phone, my hands-down favorite game was the Ancient Empire series (second one more since it had multiple skirmish maps). So that, or an Advance Wars clone would be nice!
Reign of Swords is decent, controls are a bit slow, but it seems to be the best option. I'm still on the edge though...
Yeh its not the best looker on the iphone, the graphics are a direct port of the basic windows graphics. It is however a good balanced strategy game with good depth to it. You can download the windows demo at: http://www.windowsgames.co.uk/slay.html The windows version is skinnable has a level editor and also has network games, hopefully the dev will be porting some of these features to the iphone.
One of the non-puzzle-quest Warlords games would be awesome. They managed Warlords 2 for the DS a while back; that would be an enduring game for the platform, especially if they could swing multiplayer by email or similar ... wow.
its interestin u mentioned multiplayer ... i always feel turn base online on iphone would be a challenge seein how short bursts of gaming time u hv on this device, and turn based games takes awhile to play compared to arcade .... u will need a quick blitz like turn based game to really work on iphone maybe?
I'd kill for a Total War: iPhone game! Rome or Medieval, how cool would that be? you would satisfy the RTS and the turn based crowd seriously
Actually, I love Strategery. I especially like playing the mode where there are empty lands between you and your opponents and you have to race to capture extra spaces before your opponents do. That game has quite a few nice options.
I believe this is real time (played it on the Pocket PC a while back but not on the iPhone). Ironically enough, I used to play this all the time on the PC when I owned the shareware version. As soon as I bought it, however, I stopped playing it. Go figure
I ran across this thread as a link from the Master List of Useful Threads. I figure we might want to update this thread with some of our new favorite TBS games that have been released since March. Anyway, these were on the front page of this thread. I got a good laugh from them. Civ being out just this week, and "Battle for Wesnoth" currently in the works. Good times. Good times. In adding to the thread, I gotta say I am really enjoying "Civilization: Revolution". It's the first TBS game I've seen with the depth that I have been seeking in an iPhone/iPod Touch game.
