It's a good book, but I found it somewhat tedious at times*. I have huge problems with repetition, and it just seemed too familiar, too much like The Stand. I felt like I pretty much had everything pegged very early on, and that was a disappointment, but I still enjoyed the read. IIRC, UTD was started around the same time as The Stand was, but just finished "recently". * Or so I thought. I had no idea what tedious WAS until I started reading Duma Key.
I'm an avid reader as well (believe it or not) and I agree with that. Only ones I've liked by King were the Bachman Books, particularly the Running Man (the Long Walk was good too)
