seeing as skater nation has a lite version you may as well get that first and see if you like the feel of it
forget grind... I bought it a while back, I filled up a report to apple because of the ragdoll bails, its pathetic. It's almost as bad as skater nation where you have to watch the slow motion bail / fade to black animation. I dont like wasting time
Random_Guy, Bought both Skater Nation and Mike V: Do or Die, Mike V; Do or Die I like better for some reason, although Skater Nation has better graphics.
Maybe it's because Skater Nation is too hard for you? It was difficult for me at the beginning, but once I got used to the controls, I thought that the game was superb.
Did you help develop that game? Your comments point to yes. I'm 25 and grew up skateboarding yet Touchgrinds is the most realistic, Skater Nation is the most fun(grew up with Tony Hawk, neither are button mashing as you say), and Mike V is the LEAST realistic. Your comments rub me the wrong way.
I didnt, I simply appreciate a real skateboarding game like many out there that commented on it. Touchgrind isnt a skateboarding game if you think so you should probably start rollerblading. I wont even talk about Cartoon nation. What's realistic in it the cartoon characters or the 230 000 points / 25 tricks combos? After Mike V probably Vans is the 2nd most realistic sk8 game for the iPhone, but it gets boring riding the same pool over and over. If you prefer Mario kart over Gran turismo its your opinion. But neither cartoon nation or touchgrind is even close to real skateboarding. (Tony Hawk isnt either)
I like all the skateboarding games mentioned so far, but I still play Touchgrind over a year since I bought it. It's really fun to pick up and play even if you just have a minute. It isn't really very deep though, so if you're looking for career-mode or a Tony Hawk or EA Skate like experience it's not gonna do it for you.
I fail to see how your beloved Mike V game is any more realistic when you can't even skate switch. It feels way more like a button masher than the rest, cept you swipe instead of mash buttons. Someone wants a more realistic skating game, well that's too bad because none in the app store fill that need...so that leaves which is the most fun and judging from my experience/sales/impressions Mike V is not the game.
Haven't tried Touchgrind, always meant to, just perpetually waiting for a sale that will never come. I will say that I think Mike V. is definitely more realistic in terms of looks and what you can do than skater nation. It still needs a little work on animation and physics, and could use some shadowing or something that makes it more clear when you're catching air, but it's not the 360 flip into salad grind into quadruple kickflip to nollie to body varial to bunny hop 3,000,000 points Tony Hawk/Skater Nation type of game. Not that I don't like those from time to time, but if we're talking about what's "realistic"... I'd definitely give it to Mike V. And you can skate switch in Mike V., just go into the options and change your stance. Mike V. lets you ride and do tricks fakie, and I'm honestly not sure Skater Nation even knows the difference between the two. As for the swipe the board controls, it takes some getting used to, but once you do, it's pretty responsive and accurate and you can pull off what you want to when you want to. Actually my current struggle with the controls on Mike V. have more to do with how slow you rotate in air. I really wish they threw in another way to rotate/turn besides using accelerometer controls and tilting the device.
