Sounds like you would like Eek! Definitely one of my favourites. Monkey Labour, too. What are some of your favourites?
So *many* games! Wow, so many games I want to try out! I wish there was a better way to note them all down then doing a "copy paste" into a note or txt file.

oh EEK! looks like just the ticket! Hadn't heard of that one... Some of my own faves are Zombie Gunship, Into The Dead, Fruit Ninja, Tilt To Live, Silverfish, Super Hexagon...
Hope you enjoy EEK!, it's definitely one of my faves. It's pretty tough, some games lasting for just seconds, but I wouldn't have thought that that'd scare someone who lists Super Hexagon as one of his favourites.. Oh, that reminds me, if you like Super Hexagon then you should really like infinite, by Nexus Game Studio. Silverfish/Silverfish MAX is pretty great. As is Critter Panic, formerly Match Panic, from the same dev. Pretty much as pure as high score games get.
You can add Annihilate which was just released, if you like DSS. I have only played a few games so far but it's pretty decent - good controls, minimalist design, swarms of enemies and decent challenge. From what I can tell it does not really have any sort of combo scoring system. For a game with a combo scoring system I would recommend Fireball SE again, I really enjoyed that one and it was all about the combos. For a different style, I forgot to add 247 Missiles earlier. It's basically a modern missile command score chaser.
I will also throw in another vote for EEK! I am usually not much of a fan of tilt controls with the iPad, but have been enjoying that one.
Just searched it and found a lite version, so installing as I write... That comparisson sold me (on a lite version but still )
