I just picked up a PSP a week ago, and I'm looking for some game recommendations. After playing through a few hours, I am LOVING Final Fantasy: Crisis Core. I also am enjoying Daxter and Jak & Daxter, and I have pre-ordered Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. What other recommendations do you guys have?

Yup, Crisis Core and Peace Walker are all you'll need. I can think of a few other good games worth checking out though.

Final Fantasy I (although it'd probably be better/cheaper to just get the iPhone version)
    Burnout Legends
    Mortal Kombat Unchained
Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai (well, if you enjoy the Budokai games at least)
GTA: Chinatown Wars (again, iPhone's cheaper, but the PSP version has online/extra missions)
    Dissidia: Final Fantasy
    Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix
Metal Gear Ac!d 1/2 (the second one's much better though)
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops (but Peace Walker's almost out, and it's going to be WAY better based on the demo)

Otherwise, if you have PSN credit, go buy Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil 2, and Metal Gear Solid, and you should be good for a long time.

    Is that a hack-and-slash?

Yes, but it's one of the best hack-and-slash games ever made. You can upgrade weapons, and do a wide variety of moves. Highly recommended.

So it's more than a button masher?

It's a really good arena-based fighter (as I'd label it). If you've ever played any of the DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi games, it's like them. You run around the different Final Fantasy-themed levels, fighting with characters from major games in the series, like Cloud, Tidus, Sephiroth, Jecht, Squall, etc. (unfortunately, it's missing some of the less-important characters, or those from side stories, like Auron, Zack, and Angeal). You use attacks to lower your opponent's bravery and raise yours, which is used to reduce your opponent's HP. Then there's a ton of equipment and a level up system, adding tons of replay value. Check out the demo for the action, but remember that there's multiple storylines and TONS of RPG elements to the game.

God of War's production values are amazing. It's almost like an AAA ps2 action game in your pocket  Burnout Legends/Dominator is another must have

Ya the graphics are mad good but in worried that the gameplay will focus solely on how quickly I can mash the X button...

You definetly should. I got it the week it came out and it's still a good game. TONS of content if you include leveling up all of your characters, collecting all items, etc. It's a really good game, you won't be disappointed. My top 3 picks that you should get though that you aren't already getting/have:

    1.) Dissidia: Final Fantasy
2.) Metal Gear Ac!d 2 (don't worry about playing the first one. I beat this one before I even played the first one and it made complete sense)
3.) Burnout Legends (heard it's better than Dominator)

I know ones a console game and the other is a handheld game, but how does Burnout Legends compare to Paradise?

Edit: Bought it, couldn't resist. Guess I'll see for myself.

I'd recommend Resistance Retribution if you like a good TPS, Motorstorm Arctic Edge if you like racers. Other good games would be the previously mentioned Dissidia God Of War, Burnout Dominator/Legends and Star Wars Force Unleashed, Little Big Planet. I didn't really enjoy MGS, probably because I wasn't a huge fan of the series and I thought the controls were pretty bad.

BURNOUT LEGENDS FTW!!! seriously tho, its freakin' amazing. Its 10x as good as dominator, and 20x as good as paradise. I have had a psp for 3 years now (actually three years a week and 5 days from now) and for the last 1.5 years, thats all i've used my psp for.
*What is Burnout Legends* (besides one of the best racers of all time)
Burnout legends is an amazing arcade racer. It doesn't have licensed cars, or an open world, but it does have some amazing graphics, awesome fun, and huge ass explosions. Seriously, get it now. If you hae a psp, you owe it to yourself to get burnout legends. (btw, I saw it for 12 bucks at gamestop) it is exactly like burnout 3, just with 97 cars and a shitload of tracks. Also, the soundtrack is decent. BTW, its like 12 bucks at gamestop. I have spent over like 20 hours playing and i'm not even 68% done with it. There are like 75 different race events, and 100 crash events. My favorite mode is road rage, but instead of being timed like in paradise, you just keep going until you crash out. (except in world tour, in which you are timed)

    You gotta play it

Haha, I agree with everything you said. Burnout 3 revitalized my interest in racing games because it encourages sideswiping/battling and playing it on a portable screen an incredible experience. I have yet to see any iPhone games come even close to what burnout legends offers but it's probably because the technology isn't there yet...Well maybe be done on the 3GS and iPad but games need to scale down to the 3G right now which is what many people are still using.

Here's a gamespot review of Burnout Legends

Yeah, your right. It would be amazing on the ipad screen tho, and EA could pull it off. I remember watching that video a few years back, costing me the best 20 bucks I have ever spent.
    Gamespot: 9/10
    Pocket Gamer: 9/10
    1UP: 9.5/10
    Game Chronicles: 9.1/10

    ...the list goes on

    - Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. (the only game you'll ever really need)
    - Phantasy Star Online. (Solid action rpg as well)
    - Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce. (great action button masher)
    - Disgaea. (Solid tbs game)

those got plenty of playtime but MHFU is a must have. I'm 800hours and still going strong on my main character.

I got plenty of others to reccomend depending on your preference.
