This is a tough one. I use my iPod Touch far more than either of the others, but does that make it the best? I can't play FFVII, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil or Castlevania Symphony of the Night on my iPod, but I can on the PSP. Those are some of my favourite games of all time so although I don't play the PSP even half as much, it definitely makes it damn appealing.
pretty obvious bro the iPhone/iPod Touch AND the DS i dont realy like the PSP very much but the iPhone/iPod TOuch and the DS have more features
I think you may find these results rather skewed...seeing as we are on an iPod touch and iPhone gaming sight...
*sigh* the one on the iDevice is nothing but a glorified duck hunt, a fun one, but still not actual MGS game.
Poll and topic as a whole fails to recognize that iPhone/touch is NOT a portable game system. It doesn't matter how you personally use it, the fact is that it simply isn't a dedicated game system. It's a mobile platform, one which has a market for games, but there's a difference between it and dedicated devices. Seriously...it's like directly comparing PC to Wii/360/XBox. There's a reason stuff like NPD data doesn't directly compare PC game sales to home console sales.
Come on, spiffyone. Sure you may be right, but does it really matter that much? This is just a poll in a thread on a iPhone gaming site, does it really need to be perfect and 'spiffyone standard'. Let's just assume that the iPhone/iPod Touch IS a portable console, just for the sake of the thread. Just think of the thread being called: 'Which device do you prefer to play games on?'. I know that being all correct/official comes naturally to you, but jeez, can't you lighten up just a tiny bit?
As an overall mobile device I prefer my iPod Touch, but as solely a video game device the iPod has yet to surpass my love for the DS. It might someday when it starts getting better and better games.
The DS will always be my favorite, even though I haven't had one for a while. The iPhone has potential, but it was released more of an all-in-one device than dedicated to games. The market reflects that and lowers prices drastically. Lower prices mean less budgets to create games. The devs on the DS have incredible budgets to work with, meaning they can add loads of content and polish, making updates totally unnecessary. The iPod's cool, but it has limits.
LBG, everything needs to be "spiffyone standard" IMHO. Maybe it's because I'm spiffyone...I dunno You should see what I do at Starbucks. Like an impersonation of Dennis Leary to the nth degree. "What the hell is this? Why the hell does my coffee smell like maple syrup and chocolate? I didn't order hot chocolate, I ordered f'n coffee!" "Sir, it's a mocha latte...." "WTF did you just call me you little ****?" Seriously though, to answer the question of the thread (and, btw, you're right LBG...sorry). Am I the only one that likes all three...equally? If I have to be put in a position to choose one though it would be... DS (DSlite in this case). Why? Three reasons: 1. I can play my GBA games on it 2. home to current gen 2D platformers in these series: - Mario (New Super Mario Bros.) - Sonic (Sonic Rush) - Rayman (Rayman Raving Rabbids - don't let the title fool you. It is NOT a Raving Rabbids mini game compilation, but a "new" 2D Rayman platforming game, and a good one too.) 3. Ace Attorney series (Phoenix Wright, Apollo Justice, Miles Edgeworth) The other platforms don't have these. Plus, I like clamshell designs. If Apple ever makes a Mac netbook or overgrown iPhone/touch netbook tablet sort of deal, I wouldn't mind them going clamshell, and putting two touchscreens on there. The bottom could be used for typing (with haptic response). And a clamshell dual touch screen device would be a killer e-book reader.
Why are you guys hating on the PSP? I like it, though I really like the Mario & Luigi series, and I like Toy Bot, so I guess I would take my iPhone if I had to, But I would rather have all three or at least a DS lite so I could play Toy Bot AND Mario & Luigi
iPhone, since it's has most of functions of a computer and phone. PSP is good too; I just saw some Wii-quality games on there and it looks amazing. I wouldn't go within ten meters of a person holding DS since 95% of the time it'll be some crap like Mario or Sonic or their band of circus freaks.
To hell with the technicalities, I bought my iPod Touch almost uniquely for games, so as far as I'm concerned it's a portable gaming system. ...and people are always comparing PC's to consoles in terms of which is better for games. I can't remember a time when they didn't.
